I take Ergotamine for headaches. I get my meds thru Medco. My insurance pays most of the cost for generics. Last time Medco said they didn't have Ergotamine in stock (first time that has ever happened over the years.) They said they would need to send me Cafergot, the brand name. It costs me 10 times more. I need to know why I can not get Ergotamine.?? ## Same problem with caffergot or its generic ergotan/caff. Wally World used to charge $5 for a generic. Now they say they cannot get a generic. The real caffergot cost $300. ## Unfortunately, shortages sometimes happen, or a manufacture discontinues a medication, and while it is problematic, there's really nothing we can do about it. The typical side effects of this medication may include nausea, insomnia, dizziness, and dry mout...

Numbness in upper lip

I'm currently taking butalbital + acetaminophen + caffeine (50-325-40) and imitrex 109 milligram for migraine relief. I have been taking it for years, but two days ago I started experiencing numbness in my upper left lip. ## I take Fioricet all the time. I would bet it’s the Imitrex that did that to you. I haven’t used that med in years but I remember it gave me weird tingling or something. ## Hello, I also take Fioricet or Fiorinal and have for 30+ year's.. I have NEVER had or even heard of something like you describe.. I would also have to agree and say it's the imitrex. Check with your Dr, best of luck! ## Yes, this can be a side effect of Imitrex, according to FDA reports. Other side effects may include nausea, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, and fever. How...

IF you're getting EPISODIC MIGRAINES, like the type that my mother-in-law had (you get them here & there; once in awhile) those med...

butalbital acetaminophen caffeine 50/325/40 uses

How long does it take for the pain from a bad migraine to go away? I've been taking the pills for 3 days and I still have my bad migraine. ## Hello, Char! How are you? I am so sorry about the migraine. It should have helped by now, if it was going to do so. As detailed by the NIH, these types of medication usually start to work within 15 to 20 minutes of taking them, so relief should be felt soon after. It might be time to explore other migraine relief options, such as different medications. Dilaudid is often used by hospital ERs to treat them. Have you ever tried it? It's an idea you can discuss with your doctor, anyway. The FDA does warn that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, and constipation. ## Char, ...

watson 956 fiorinal codeine blue and yellow capsule by actavis

Is the blue and yellow fiorinal codeine capsule imprinted with "watson 956"? Is the manufacturer Actavis? Is it a brand or generic version? ## This capsule is manufactured by Watson Laboratories and they list it as being the brand name Fiorinal with Codeine. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I can not take very many medicines without allergic reactions. Is fioricet west ward 787 available anywhere?

I had read that West Ward fioricet was off the market. This medicine helped so much with my headaches. Can you please tell me if the West Ward fioricet will be available soon? ## Hi tam213, According to the drug's main webpage, Fioricet products containing 325 mgs of acetaminophen have in-fact been discontinued. New formulations of Fioricet & Fioricet w/ Codeine reportedly contain 300 mgs of acetaminophen per capsule to meet the FDA's safety guidelines surrounding acetaminophen dosing limitations. I'm not sure when it's supposed to be back on the shelves, if it's not already. But I would suggest contacting West-Ward Pharmaceuticals directly for additional details at: Recall Inquiries: [email protected] Customer Service Inquiries: [email protected]

fiorinal with codeine capsules

For many years, Fiorinal with Codeine "Brand" capsules knocked out your headache with no side affects and allowed you to be productive. Since the last year or so since Watson became "Activis", this drug is not the same. They don't work as well, do not knock out the headache. I've heard it might be the "fillers", or maybe they are not making them strong enough. I imagine the generic form are not as good also. It is a shame that we sufferers have to deal with this. If you call Watson Activis, they tell you "nothing has changed". ????? ## It has been a week since I am taking the Fiorinal with Codeine "generic" made by Watson Manufacturer. Out of all the generics I've tried, this one is the best. They relieve my headache with no side affec...

Fiorinal with Codeine #3

I've been taking 4 capsules per day for migraines and pain control. I've been taking this drug for 30 years and it seems like the only thing that works yet allows me to be productive. Since the unavailability issues about a year ago, it seems like they are now not as effective. It feels like they don't have the same amount of active ingredient. I agree that Watson was the best generic I tried. Does anybody know which manufacturer may be better to get from? I find I've been needing more like 6 per day and still am not getting the same relief. Any ideas? ## Hello, Diana! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. At this point, it might be better to just try a different medication. So far, no one who's posted has had good results from any of t...
