Hysingla Experience

This is day 3 of me taking Hysingla 20mg after taking Norco 10/325mg three to four times a day. So far I've noticed some wacky side effects. The pill seems to kick in at around 8hrs, and I can't keep my eyes open, I get a rush of anxiety and nausea. I've taken EVERY other ER opiate in the world and none of them did this to me. I do notice that it has lessened my extreme pain already and I have taken a few norcos on top of it thru out the day, but the 8hr mark seems to be like a different world kicking in. Has anyone been on this for awhile, went thru these side effects and then came out the other end actually liking this med? I can find NOTHING on the internet regarding much experience or reviews out there on people who are taking this med. I've woken up in the middle of the night with abdominal pains, anxiety and an overall feeling of weird. Then it passes and I fall back to sleep, and I just feel so hungover. Also it's like every three hours or so it will ''kick in'' again with the can't keep my eye open thing, the nausea, etc. I started out the first two days not eating much (took away my will to eat) so today I made sure I ate a large meal before the 8 hr mark kicked in, but still feel so freaking weird! Please, can anyone out there give me some feedback?

SAME, I have never been SO miserable in my life. I felt like I was in withdraw too. I had been taking methadone for long lasting pain w/ 10 mg. Hydrocodone 3 times a day. Mind you I have severe pain having Spondolothesis, stenosis, scoliosis, arthritis and a fracture in my back. My legs and back ached SO bad all month long on this. I have been off the methadone for 3 mos so no withdraw from that anymore. I felt severely depressed and anxious, almost like I felt doomed in a way, dreadful. Like I was absolutely miserable on this crap. It seems like it takes around 10 to 14 hours to kick in and the only way I can tell, as the pain doesn't ease up, it's that I start feeling weird. My head feels full like I'm on speed or something, can't sleep well, have a rash on upper arms and my urine barely comes out. I read somewhere that these kind of meds are full of glue. I decided I'd dissolve one in some water, to see how long it took to dissolve. Never dissolved, it swelled to the size of a huge nickel and to about 3/4" thick! I took a fork to see what the consistency was and OMG, it was the stickiest, stringiest crap ever- like glue, went back and checked it after it dried and it was like that tacky glue they use in retail packaging or to hang pictures, it wadded up just like that stuff and the ball was about 2" around in size!!! Unbelievable this crap is on the market. WAY overpriced too. DO NOT waste your time and money trying this for severe pain. Absolutely did not touch my pain and made me feel depressed, doomed, and anxious. It was the 10 mg. I'd rather suffer in pain than feel like this again, can't wait til it's completely out of my system. Still feel weird and haven't taken one in 36 hours.

I have been on narco 10/325 for about 15 years now in combination with whatever was out there to help reduce my pain. I am now 72 with osteoporosis, degenerative joint disease, complications from an auto accident, and more. Fentanal patches almost killed me. Over the past five years I was on OxyContin, with hydrocodone which worked well but began to slowly fade out. My Pain Specialist changed me to hysingla about six months ago and it is now working great for me. It took a little time to adjust my medications so they would work best for me. I now take hydro 10/325 3X a day at 8am, 2pm, and 10pm and hysingla ER 30mg two times a day at 8am,and 10pm which seems to balance effectiveness of each. My pain level holds around 6 to 7 with spikes as high as 9 at times but not that often. I can take another hydro if needed to reduce the pain but try not to. My life is better now with a tolerable pain level. I very seldom go to a 6 even with bed rest and know this is for the rest of my life. I hope this might help someone with similar problems.

Hi all, I was on oxycotin twice a day, with Percocet 10 mg for breakthrough pain. I was on this combination for a few years. After receiving a letter from my insurance company stating they are no longer covering oxycontin for anyone anymore, and they recommend Hysingla. I took the letter to my Dr. He had not heard of it, my pharmacy had not heard of it, etc. That was a little scary to me that no one has heard of it. The last time I saw my Dr he prescribed Hysingla 60 mg, with Norco for breakthrough pain. This is by far the best drug that has ever worked for me. It lasts the full 24 hours for me. I take it in the morning with my coffee. It doesn't make me feel tired at all, in fact the oxycontin did make me feel tired. I am able to do more now, go places with hubby, I feel like I have a good quality of life back. I have no side effects from it at all. Getting that letter was the best thing that could have happened to me, because I never would have heard of Hysingla if I hadn't. My Dr. did some research, if you're on a high dose of your previous medication then you'll need a higher dose of Hysingla. To find out just call your insurance. I was on 30 mg of oxycontin before, so 60 mg of Hysingla is workable. I may ask to go up to 80 mg. I've been on the Hysingla for 2 weeks now, I'm willing to give it a chance. I find if I take it in the morning, then a Norco when I go to bed it carries me through the night. The other bonus is I have slept better in the last 2 weeks than ever before. For those of you getting on it give it a shot, it works for me, and I have a friend who was recently put on it, he has no complaints either. It works better then any medication out there that's long term.

I know this is an older post, but for the sake of a return visit, or anyone scrolling through & stumbling across it down the road, like myself, I'll answer what I'm familiar with (as far as the Vicoprofen).

I used Vicoprofen several years ago, as an alternative to regular Vicodin. I Can't Remember (Why) I Switched to it, or from it, back to Vicoden/Lortab, but it Worked Well for Me. The Difference between the Two Are Simply: Vicodin/Norco= Tylenol, and/or Motrin. Hence, Vico(profen), Vicodin with Ibuprofen. Not Sure Why Vicodin isn't called Vicolenol, but Hopefully You Get the Gist of it. For Me Personally, I Like Tylenol for Certain Types of Pain (Non-Inflammatory), and Motrin for Other Types ie: (Menstrual Pain, Joint Pain from Inflammation). These Days I Use Norco 10/325, with Motrin 800.

Thank you so much for your positive post! I just took my first 30 mg Hysingla today, and I took it right when I got it at 1:30 today. But if that doesn’t work out I will take your advice and try taking it at night. I am only wanting to read positive posts as I’m hoping this new med. helps me.

I've been taking Hysingla for about 8 months now. I have very few problems with it and it seems to help my back pain. I do take Norco 5/325 twice daily for breakthrough pain. The one that I do notice is that it takes maybe 5 or 6 hours before the Hysingla starts to work. I pleased with it, taking it only once in 24 hours is a plus. I have no complaints. I wish you the best with this medication.

I have been on hysingla w Norco 10's twice a day for break thru pain. I haven't had any extreme side effects or pain relief either. It is a time release hydrocodone, which is the same ingredient as in Norco. Hysingla has no added tylenol. Lortab was hydrocodone w 500mg of tylenol, Norco is lortab only w less tylenol, 325mg. Hysingla works vert subtly on me. I have to supplement it w ibuprofen. The break through medicine isn't enough either. I exercise, and ice my back. I practice meditation. I know Alabama is suffering from an opioid epidemic as dr. Are prescribing the highest per pt. In the country. I feel I can't ask for an increase in hysingla 30 mg. As in your situation I might get ALL my medicine discontinued. I hope u can find a better long acting med for ur pain.

I've been on Norco for years...Hated Lortab, so when i found Norco I felt safer....high heart rate with Lortab...I suffer from a family curse of severe arthritis of the spine for not only a DNA issue but because we were very hard workers without college education....and a few very serious falls...and no food in cabinets or fridge as a kid for a better chance....I went days if not weeks without eating....watched my brother who had 6 discs in his neck fixed...He replaced windshields the old way...He died misusing his meds...OXY plus....Since bam Norco was considered a rating as a class A overnight...I've been put through pain management....my new Dr. since my other Dr. had to go on medical leave...same office..only going over medical reports....bogus!!! The last day to see her i showed her a picture of just my upper back/head....her head bowed as she finally realized I'm in trouble....see my mid back everybody wants to ignore....lower back surgery? Pain is even worse....shots haven't worked yet and if they don't work for my lower back....I can't do it on my neck knowing the pain that comes with it...

My mid back - they tell me nothing is wrong..LIARS...I get stabbings daily!!!! What a joke!!!! Went to physical therapy and was mocked by a EDUCATED(?) 20 year old that would rather talk to her fellow therapist than pay attention to me....I'm 55 and I can't stand disrespect from someone I'm suppose to count on!...DONE with her!!!! She even had the balls to mock me saying you're walking better already....It's not even a joke when you can't stay on your feet for 15 to 20 minutes without severe pain...Thanks for putting everybody in the same box!!!!

My complaint - Why pick on someone who has been on Disability for at least 15 years?... I can't use my arms or legs....Norco was my lifesaver to at least get something done!!! Now I'm stuck in a recliner all dam day....crying every day... Since my new Dr. screamed DEA....Judging me by the cover!!! Now let me tell you what I think of HYSINGLA.... VERY DANGEROUS!!! Turned my finger nails blue...couldn't breath...lost the urge to go #2 without knowing it landed in my pants....had electric shocks from the top of my head...down my legs to my fingertips.... It's DANGEROUS!!!! Get it OFF the market ASAP!

I have been on hysingla 30mg for about 6months. It has helped me to start taking it at around 10pm, that way when I get up in the morning I feel pretty good so I can go to work. my doctor will not give me any breakthrough pain medicine which would help some. I have to say this medicine has really worked well for me.Hang in there maybe it will do the same for you. Remember take before bed time

So sorry Susie. I had a terrible time with that med. Tired, nausea, not eating. My body felt like cement. They did not help. It was absolutely the worst med I have ever taken.

I have been on Hysingla 40 mg now for about 2 years and it has changed my life. I had been taking Hydrocodone 10/325 4 x daily for several years and it just wasn't helping as much as my body became so used to it, I had tried several other pain meds but had allergic reactions and so was limited in my choices. I did have some side effects when I first started it and did call my doctor about them_ which I urge everyone to do when in doubt. He told me to try and hang in there for a month and that did it :) after that it worked better and better. Yes I suffer from constipation but that was also a problem on Hydrocodone _ which I still can take one or two for break through pain. Yes my appetite went way down, but I just eat smaller little meals throughout the day and they put me on Linzess to help with the constipation. After trying taking Hysingla at different times of the day I found that when I get up in a.m. I take one Hydrocodone as it works fast and then two hours into that is when I take the Hysingla which then pretty much keeps me pain free for the day, occasionally I do have to take the second Hydrocodone that I am allowed. As to some people saying they can't sleep I never had that problem but that maybe due to the fact I have to take a muscle relaxer each night before bed. Here is the thing if you have been taking Hydrocodone without any problems then the Hysingla is basically the same thing just without the Acetaminophen which of course is bad for your liver. I am so thankful to have found this drug, but everyone is different _ wishing everyone the best.

Was on hysingla ER for 6 months.. Would only cover my pain moderately from hour 8 to hour 15 when blood levels were highest and provided almost no relief for the remainder of the 24 hours. Went back to norco IR and notice that ny tolerance is much higher! Before he started me on hysingla I could take a norco 7.5 and I would cover my pain for 4 hours ... Now it takes 1 1/2 to cover with added ibuprofen ...

My Doctor recently took me off 20 mg twice a day of OxyContin and put me on Zohydro 10 mg twice a day. The Oxy was no longer taking my chronic pain away even with taking 3 Norco 10s a day. Even though the Zo is 12 hrs and twice daily, even with the Norcos still having lots of breakthrough. Have an appointment with her this Tuesday and going to see if she will bump the Zo up to 15 or 20 mg. It is my understanding anyway that OxyContin is stronger than hydrocodone.

Was on hysingla ER 20 mg , Horizont ER 300 mg and tramadol for breakthrough for 6 months. The hysingla ER would get a fair blood level at the 8th hour and would cover my pain fair until the 18th hour. So I was having to go to the tramdol several times a day and running out way to early. Upped my Horizont , but was having cognitive problems and returned to the 300 mg dose. Just went back to immediate release norco instead of hysingla since it failed to cover my pain for the 24 hours.

I read seratonin syndrome can happen. The anxiety u are experiEncino should b told to doc. I take hysingla for many mo.s now. No real s.e. noted. It takes 3 days to get a normal plasma level in the blood stream. Depending on your metabolism.
