Osteoporosis Overview

Prolia Injection Side Effects

Aprox 2 weeks after the prolia injection I started to experience nausea and weight loss. Also, loss of appetite and a keen sense of smell developed. It was difficult to eat or smell cooked food. It has been months and these symptoms have decreased dramatically. In contacting their website they would not confirm or deny this as a side effect of the drug. Has anyone else experienced nausea w/this drug? ## Hi Bonnie, From what I could gather, the following side effects are associated with Prolia, that may be similar to what you had experienced: -nausea -tingling in your fingers, toes, or around your mouth -pain, numbness, swelling, or drainage from mouth, teeth, or jaw -vomiting Referenced from: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a610023.html You or your doctor can also report various s...

Severe constipation from Prolia injections?

Anyone have this problem? I was given two shots over the last year no problem. Third shot in November and I cannot resolve my severe constipation. Nothing helps. I eat enough fiber, drink enough water, and work out most days. Miralax doesn't help. Any suggestions? ## Heat some prune juice and drink it but make sure you have easy access to a bathroom. Also pitted prunes. Heat them also after adding water to cover and microwaving them till plump. Not all at once. It may work like dynamite!!! Just a cup of the juice at night, go in morning or whenever it wants you to! ## The antibody Denosumab® or Prolia® for skeletal/bone loss issues comes with a long list of side effects with some being very severe. Constipation is among the top three, so it happens quite often. These issue...

Prolia issues and side effects

I am not going to have my next shot of Prolia due 11 June. I have already had two injections and lately have suffered horrible side effects such as terrible constipation, leg and foot cramps, skin rashes, stomach pain, etc. I also found out that Prolia works by stopping the body's own bone production, causing old bone to become denser. This results in probable fractures due to old brittle bones, Prolia also causes low calcium levels in the blood, a weird side effect seeing it is supposed?to strengthen boned! ## I am sorry for your pain and suffering, I am on the "high risk list" for fractures, so having a product that has rebuilt bone mass in MY body is a blessing. No, I don't like the side effects, but I don't want to be in a wheel chair either.. Good Luck To You and...

Tymlos - the new approved drug

I have been prescribed Tymlos but my insurance denied me. I'm in the appeal process and my dr. says we could start Reclast if I am again denied. Any suggestions on how to obtain Tymlos? And does anyone have experience with Reclast? ## I get my Tymlos free. I had no Rx Insurance. I am retired and on Medicare. My arthritis Dr sent in an application for me and I was approved. You might ask your Dr's office as they should know how to apply for help. You might not get it free but if your insurance denied you then you may get a significant amount of help... Does anyone have any experience with this drug? After my first shot, I had lower back pains and a mild headache. ## I have Been taking tymlos for two months. Feel more stiff than before use. Prolia side effects ongoing

I had my infusion Mar 4 2015. I have experienced severe stomach pains, leg pains that wake me up at night, a horrible dry cough, near migraine type headaches, very severe weakness, trouble walking, constipation, had to have dental work that I usually have great teeth, some trouble sleeping. My rheumatologist did nothing to try to help me with the symptoms but my primary doctor gave me medication that help with the stomach pains, take Excedrin for Migraines and enteric aspirin for back and body, and other meds to try and find some comfort. I'm somewhat better than the few weeks after the infusion but still have a lot of problems. Hopefully this doesn't last for 6 months. ## Hello, Shirl! How are you? I'm so sorry about what you're going through. Everything you've list...

Celiac disease/wheat sensitivity after prolia

Just updating my situation with severe diarrhea after Prolia shots. I have gone on a totally gluten free diet and what a relief!! My bowels are back to normal (took just four days) and I feel sooo much better overall. The gluten free diet is very expensive, however, I feel it is well worth the cost to not spend my life in the lavatory. Seriously, some attorneys need to start a legal suit against the company that put this poison onto the market to be inj.'ed into unsuspecting patients, causing celiac disease/gluten sensitivity, and all the myriad of other problems I have been reading about. ## Hello, Jeena! How are you? A change in bowel habits can be a normal side effect of Prolia, according to FDA reports. You may also experience nausea, fatigue, headache, and anemia. As to the glu...

Prolia side effects skin rash

I developed a red burning itchy lumpy rash after one injection of Prolia. Mainly on face neck chest arms scalp. Anyone else? ## Hello, Willy! How are you? That can be a side effect of Prolia, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, hypocalcemia, asthenia and fatigue. However, since it is itchy, you should have it checked out, because it could be an allergic reaction that requires medical treatment. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Willy, please look under Prolia side effects on this site. We have almost 900 people writing and talking about Prolia. You sort of worded your question wrong to land on the mega load of Prolia problems. Yes, it's from Prolia and requires medical attention. You will probably have to take written confirmation to make any MD believe yo...

Prolia & Hair Loss

I've just recently had my second Prolia shot. So far so good...a little back pain. I continually have stress fractures on my feet and have also taken fosamax. My current problem is hair loss & I wondered if anyone else was having that problem? ## Hello, Gracie! How are you? No, this isn't listed from what I can find, but I'll check a couple more sources to be sure and post back. Are you on any other medications? How old are you? ## I'm 57. On no other meds except evista and a pill for reflux. A friend sent me a website that stated that there was a study with some hair loss ## Yes, after my second shot of Prolea, I had two UTIs, fatigue, huge bumps under the skin on my face and all over my scalp, an array of unexplained symptoms like peripheral neuropathy (not diabeti...

Prolia Side Effects Duration

Would like to know if anyone had side effects from Prolia but they went away - and how long did it take for that to happen? ## There have been many posts about people suffering side effects, which in theory should wear off in a few weeks, but it hasn't worked that way for many. Here's a link to a post with comments from several people that have been suffering problems: Are you also suffering from problems? ## First injection Feb. Now have back pain, musculoskeletal pain, cholesterol very high and walk with a cane or walker, very seldom drive now, due to arm weakness.AND my doctor said there were no side effects.!!!
