Need to find broad spectrum antibiotics ASAP, or at least to know which kind is the best? Live in Houston TX. Infection spreading help. Doctors won't give what I know will work. ## Hi ron, What specific antibiotic are you inquiring about at the doctor's office? If one doctor isn't willing to give you what you feel might be best for the infection, perhaps it would be a good idea to ask this doctor why they think something else might be better suited for the type of infection you're dealing with. My guess is that it's probably for a very good reason, as some strains of bacteria are more resistant against certain antibiotics than others. And not to be mistaken for medical advice, but depending on the type of infection you have and how severe it is, another thought is to...

my son is 4 yrs old. today i found him 100 deg fever ## From what I could gather, Taxim-O is a brand of Cefixime. This medication is a cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections such as pneumonia; bronchitis; gonorrhea; and ear, lung, throat, and urinary tract infections. I'm not sure why your doctor prescribed it for a fever, as to my knowledge, antibiotics will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections; unless it could've originated from an infection of some kind. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Cefixime Details I hope this helps! ## My child was having diahorrea since last monday. Dr.had given ciplox tz previously. But stomach pain nd diarrea continued. Today dr prescribed taxim o dt 100. I m puzzeled wether my child will get cured...

Long read, need help! 59 year of male diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis 2 1/2 years ago. Tried going Vegan and took the insurance-required Methotrexate for 3 months with no relief whatsoever. On the advice of my RA I started the 50mg injections of Enbrel. Within 2 days I noticed a big difference and was pain free within a month. Fast forward to a month ago. Started getting a fever to which I've seen as high as 103.3°. Oddly enough, the Enbrel stopped working at the same and went back to severe pain and stiffness within 2 weeks. Went and had all kinds of blood work with no infection found. All Covid & Flu tests were negative. So I went the emergency room 3 days ago and have cat scans, ultrasounds, MRI's and they cannot find source of the fever. Last injection was 10 day...

I was given doxycycl hycl by my doctor because I have some hair lost I have read some of the side effects now I am kind of scare to take this. from reading what others has said no one said anything about this drug in reference to hair lost just want to know if doxycycl hycl help with this problem. ## Hello, Judy! How are you? No, the FDA classifies this medication as an antibiotic and it will only treat bacterial infections. It will do nothing to help with hair loss. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Additionally, improper use creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria, which could be dangerous in the future. What type of doctor did you consult?

My hand has been cut by a mirror and the doctor told me that this antibiotic would be helpful. I have taken the medicine for 5 days but it didn't work. Kindly tell me which medicine I should take to recover from my pain and a gap of skin in the hand? ## What were you expecting this medication to do? It is an antibiotic that is used to treat, or prevent bacterial infections. The NIH lists its typical side effects as possibly including diarrhea, nausea, dizziness, headache, and non-allergic skin rash. However, it is not going to help the cut heal any faster than usual. Are you on any other medications?

What kind of an infection is this for and how does it interact with alcohol? ## Amoxicillin is used to treat certain infections caused by bacteria, such as pneumonia; bronchitis; gonorrhea; and infections of the ears, nose, throat, urinary tract, and skin. It is also used in combination with other medications to eliminate H. pylori, a bacteria that causes ulcers. Amoxicillin is in a class of medications called penicillin-like antibiotics. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Antibiotics will not work for colds, flu, and other viral infections. The Amoxicillin + Clavulanate Potassium "combination" results in an antibiotic with an increased spectrum of action and restored efficacy against amoxicillin-resistant bacteria that produce -lactamase. In other words this is a more...

I was put on this antibiotic because an infection was found in my blood work . What kind of infections can be found in blood work to have this prescribed to me plz help me I am worried. ## It's really more of a broad antibiotic that can be effective at treating various types of infections, so they may not even be certain of the specific infection and just prescribed this to try to eradicate it, regardless of the type and origin. In most cases, what happens is that while testing your blood in the lab, they discover that your white cell count is elevated and, if the elevation isn't severe enough to be a cause for alarm, the most common cause is an infection somewhere in your body. The white cells are actually your disease fighters. That's why I said that your doctor may not ev...

Hi, I have been taking doxycycline for about a year to fight back chronic MRSA Staph infection in the femur (had several operations on leg so far). I am alergic to some other antibiotics and tried Septra and that gave me rashes. So I am kind of stuck with Doxy. A few months after I started taking Doxy I started developing what I thought at the time was general anxiety disorder as I would develop chest tightness/pressure and general nervousness which in turn would make it extremely difficult to concentrate at work and hard to hold up conversations with people. Sure I have some anxiety over bills, work, life, but nothing that I obsessively worry about. However, thinking my issue was anxiety I started taking anti-anxiety meds (BuSpar and Ativan) - I got off the Ativan about 3 weeks ago as ...

My husband has been on Humira for about 2 years for ulcerative colitis. Works great to control that, but now he's starting to break out with sores and has had Mesa type sores that had to be surgically removed. I'm really worried about this. Has anyone else experienced these kinds of problems? Thanks ## Hello, Melissa! How is your husband doing? Has there been any change? The FDA does warn that Humira can increase the risk of infection, as well as cause other side effects, such as nausea, administration site irritation, some forms of carcinoma and back pain. What has his prescriber advised?

Hey! I took Cipro for a SIBO infection for two weeks, twice a day. It made me extremely sick but so did the SIBO so we just kind of went with it anyway. My concern is the tendon issue. I have pains all the time that come and go for various unknown reasons, and am having pain in my right arm right now. I plan to call the doctor, but I was wondering in the meantime: does anyone know how long it might take for the risk of tearing a tendon to go away? Is it a few days, weeks, any clue? It's very hard for me not to work out and I've been staying put for 2 weeks now, so I'm ready to get up and go. ## What did your doctor say? I haven't really been able to find a definitive answer on this either, unfortunately. My best guess would be to wait a week or so, after finishing it, bu...

I was diagnosed with scabies. no skin examination done to confirm this. given the cream no relief after 10 weeks I did a thuro cleaning of all house. I work in a field corn and bean production plant that treats their product with herbicides. could I have a fungal infection? I used a jock itch spray and kinda relieved the itch ## Hello, Connie! How are you doing? Can you tell me more about the rash? Scabies are actually a skin mite and you can usually tell if that's what you have, because they get more active whenever your warm, such as while working, in the shower or under the covers. Plus they tend to move in straight lines as the burrow in the skin, so you'll notice straight lines, or angular patterns.

Has anyone used Nasacort (nasal spray) for Vertigo? ## Yes, actually i was this week. I've been having vertigo for 4 weeks probably a total of 6 times, happens very suddenly. My doctor wants me to try this spray and then come back if it is still happening, i've been using the spray for 3 days and it happened today. So i'm not the confident that its working really, my thought is that its an infection of some kind, not just an allergic reaction. ## Some cases of vertigo are known to be caused by allergies, in such cases, treating the allergy, and its symptoms can help treat the vertigo.
