Pinamox Caps 500mg Amoxicillin
12 Replies RSS Share
Hi, just wondered if it's safe to take alcohol with "pinamox caps 500mg amoxicillin".. I assumed it wasn't until I looked at the other medicine (a cough bottle) that I was prescribed by the same doctor.. It has ethanol (alcohol) in it. I finish big exams soon and have been looking forward to a cocktail party for ages.. If it's dangerous to take the course of tablets with alcohol then I'm considering not taking the tablets (three a day) for the day of the celebrations. Am I crazy? ## There are always dangers if you mix a medication with alcohol, however, the general reason you are warned about it withy Amoxicillin is because it can worsen the side effects. If you've been experiencing anything, like the dizziness, drowsiness and nausea, then the alcohol could m...

amoxicillin dosage for a 6 and a half year old

Hello, My son is 6 and half years old at 64lb he has a throat infection. Doctor gave him Amoxicillin 11ML 3times a day for 7 days. this sounds like a lot, just wondering is this the usual dosage for a 6 and a half year old?? ## At his age, it is dosed by weight and the severity of the infection, so you should administer it as his doctor has directed. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with? ## My 6-year-old son has a throat infection. His weight is 46lbs. They gave him amoxicillin 500 mg and they said to give him 5mL every 12 hours. Does liquid Amoxicillin actually go badord?
2 Replies RSS Share
Hi, I was just wondering if liquid Amoxicillin actually goes bad & could possibly harm someone, or does it just lose its potency? For example, liquid Amoxicillin kept in fridge the whole time, not quite a month old...there's no expiration date anywhere on the bottle, & there was extra left over after it was administered correctly for 10 days. Does it "go bad"/spoil like a food would? Thanks! ## Hello, Ricky! How are you? Yes, it can go sour and, while it wouldn't actually be harmful, it could cause nausea, vomiting and stomach cramps, if taken once expired, as reported by the FDA. Most liquids are only good for a few weeks, but the pharmacy should be able to give a more precise date. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Amoxicillin is actually only good for...

Amoxicillin for tooth infection

In december I developed bad tooth pain and a sore on the gum in a left molar. I have a heart murmer and my blood press.rose to a high level but was erratic and other times a normal rate. I called a dentist and he said to go to the ER. I did and they prescribed amoxicillin at 500mgs every 8 hrs. The last dose was on Jan 3, 2013 and by then the tooth problem was gone. I went to a dentist and he found no infections but said a molar on the opposite side which had lost some filling should be repaired soon. I made an appt. with him, but in the meantime it developed a blister near the root and soreness at the gumline. Also I started having erratic BP swings again sometimes 160/105 and resting pulse to 88. When I called he said to cancel his appt and go to the ER again, he didn't think the ...

amoxicillin for gum infection

I have a gum infection because I have a bad tooth that needs to be pulled. The dentist prescribed me Amoxicillin 875 mg. I'm just wondering how long will it take for my gums to return back to normal. I've been taking the pills for 7 days and I have 3 days left. ## Hello, Shauna! How are you doing? The general rule for antibiotics is that you should start to see improvement after taking them for a full 3 days. If you still have swelling, it may not be the right one to treat the infection you have and you may need to ask about taking something else. When are you having the tooth extracted? It would be best to do it after the infection has improved, otherwise it may not numb properly. ## As rightlly said by Verwon, at seven days you shud ave had an improvement if not complete heali...

He has also been having pain behind one of his ears/kind of on his jaw line. He prescribed eye drops for pink eye and amoxicillin 250mg/5ml suspect 100ml and told me to give him 17.5ml 2x a day. He only weighs 46 pounds. I feel like this is way too much for his age and weight. Is this amount too much or is it normal for his diagnosis? Please help! ## You should give him the dosage the doctor has prescribed. Amoxicillin rash - how long?

My 6 year old had a possible allergic reaction to amoxicillin. We stopped giving her the medication after only 2 doses. However, 2 days after stopping the medication, her rash is not only not going away, it is intensifying and spreading. Is this normal? What should I do to help alleviate the rash and itching? I have been giving her Benadryl regularly. ## Hi Lori, Sorry to hear about your child's reaction to Amoxicillin. According to, this is indicative of an allergic reaction. However, it may be that the antibiotic is still trying to find its way out of her system. I have small round yellow pills that look like they have BMP on one side and 193 underneath it, with nothing on the other side. I am pretty sure they are my dogs but just want to make sure what they are as the label got wet. ## Hello, Jean! How are you and your pups? I thought this one looked familiar, we lost a dog to cancer just before Christmas, so I looked through his remaining medications, since he'd been sick for awhile. Our vet prescribed it for an infection, it is listed as containing 50mgs of the antibiotic Amoxicillin. I can't say if it was prescribed last year, or sometime prior, since we'd used multiple vets and battled his health issues for a long time. We lost track a long time ago.
