Why would hydrocodone show up in my urine test if I have not taken any opiates?

This just happened to my husband. False positive for opiates, drilled down to hydrocodone. He is diabetic. What could cause this false positive? Please give specific references. We need to know this!

Can you post back with information on anything else you have taken? Even over the counter products?

There are some substances that can cause false positives for opiates on urine tests and it does occur most often with these synthetic opiates, which is what Hydrocodone is.

I am also an "rnhelplz" situation. I had taken vicodin and tested positive for oxymorphone but not oxycodone (on gc/ms). I've been accused of taking oxycodone which I had not. Any ideas?

I am on a suboxone program and last week my UA came back positive for hydrocodone which I have not taken in years. I take prozac, omeprazole, fish oil and glucosame chondrotin daily. I also take an over the counter sleep aid. What should I do? Is there a way to have it retested?

I take 2 40mg oxycontin daily, 2 30mg Adderall, 200-400mg naproxen, and pseudoephedrine as needed for allergies. My dr does urine drug screening and send specimen out to lab for confirmation. They tell me that there is hydrocodone in my system. The screening doesn't show it but it is found in the lab. This has happened 3 times now I have been released from care. I DON'T take hydrocodone. Can anyone tell me why this is happening?????

We just had this happen. Can you help me with finding answers? Otc medications that were taken would be midol, one a day vits, melatonin, super b complex, ibuprofen and rx proctosol. This is very alarming when you are accused of doing something you don't. Please help.

Hydrocodone breakdown into hydromophone. I went through this when my daughter had her last baby. The hospital called cps. The test showed positive for dilauid..she has never taken that. I started doing some research and thats is the info i found. Its sad that even pain management doc who give there patients pain meds then test them on next visit ..refuse to treat that very patient because tbey test positive for hydromophone which is dilauid. Saad sad.

Hydrocodone is broken down in the liver into metabolites. One of which is Hydromorphone (Dilaudid). Probably why he tested positive. Norco is Hydrocodone just without a lot of acetaminophen .

I got on here to find some answers also. I am also on oxycontin and am screened monthly by dr. They also found hydrocodone and I don't take it. Dr refused to see me again. I need answers.

my girlfriend just took some hydrocodene and a drug test came back positive for morphine. they going to send it out to a lab. will it come back positive for morphine or something? or will it come back that she hasn't used illegal drugs?

My dr gave me a U/A and I failed because it showed hydrocodone. I'm prescribed tramadol & Percocet; those I passed the test for, but the dr is not going to see me anymore because he says I violated the law. I only take my prescription and nothing else. Why would hydrocodone show on my U/A? I'm so scared now that I've lost my dr and prescription. How can I prove to him that I didn't take anything else except my prescription? I've heard of false readings due to the tramadol being coated with synthetic opiates. Can I demand a retest? If it comes out correctly can he keep me as a patient? I'm so scared of the pain and the withdrawals. Please answer. Thank you.

I take Norco. But my urine test came back positive for Dilaudid...I Have Never Taken That! Plz, if anyone knows how or why this would happen, I need to beable to show something to my boss. THANK YOU!

Reading thru this post, there are several people failing for hydrocodone that they didn't take. Obviously, either there is a small amount in the Percocet or the newer tests being used are giving false positives. I had a false positive occur last July. They didn't care that I was telling the truth. They have all become hardened in their opinion and do NOT sincerely care about their patients. Sorry this happened to you.

Humans did not evolve eating grains and animal milks. Both gluten in grains, especially wheat, and Cassein in milk cannot be completely broken down. They are l.therefore partially break down as opioids. I heard a radio discussion on the same subject with a couple experiencing the same test results. Poppyseed bread was being squarely blamed. All Seeds are the basis of life and are extremely. healthy. Broken down into opioids, bread and milk were much more likely to have been causal. It is my opinion that given the very large amounts of grains consumed today, i.e., Burger buns, hotdog bread, pizza, wraps etc., it is little wonder that so many young people transition so readily to opioid drug (both legal and illegal) addictions..... M.
