Morphine Overview

Morphine is a pain medication of the opiate type which is found naturally in a number of plants and animals.[5][7] It acts directly on the central nervous system (CNS) to decrease the feeling of pain.[5] It can be taken for both acute pain and chronic pain.[5] Morphine is frequently used for pain from myocardial infarction and during labour.[5] It can be given by mouth, by injection into a muscle, by injecting under the skin, intravenously, into the space around the spinal cord, or rectally.[...

I Found Some Large White Round Pills With The Numbers 54 Over 090 On Front Side What Are They

I am just trying to identify some medication that I found in my parents old house. If anyone can tell me what these are that would be great, thank you. ## Do you have any idea how old they might be? I'm not 100% certain, but I did find some information leading me to believe that these may be some old time released Morphine tablets that were provided by the Veteran's Administration. Were any of your family members in the military? ## Another addict scores!!! How much more detailed do you really need? Stop providing free info to addicts. ## This could save someone's life. Yes on the other side it could be abused but its a forum for discussion. Thanks for your input

ive been in pain mgmnt for 15yrs. taken of percs(longterm use causing liver failure) put on roxys. have been on 30's for several yrs now. They work without making me high or woozy. LVPI has stopped prescribing eff jan 1. Are there any dr's not afraid of DEA? Morphine..dilaudid etc make me loopy. with bleeding ulcers..percs etc are out of the question..HELP ## Unfortunately, no one can really know ahead of time what a doctor is or is not willing to prescribe, as that is based on the doctor's discretion and not on someone else's previous appointment (especially since many doctor's are still worried about losing their licensing for prescribing too many narcotics). I'm sure there's still a good percentage out there who will drift from the pack and prescribe whate...

New pain medication laws dictating to doctors that they cannot prescribe anything equivalent 120 mg of morphine or higher a day per patient
689 Replies RSS Share
I was told Friday by my Pain Management Doctor at my monthly appointment that the DEA was implementing a new law dictating to doctors on how much pain medication they could prescribe per patient per day. It could be equal to no more than 120 mg of Morphine per day per patient and they had to comply within 3 months for all of their patients. I am trying to find out as much information on this as possible. I don't know if my Pain Management Doctor is stating fact or if he is just running scared and if he is stating fact, I don't know if this is federal or state (Alabama) mandated. I spoke directly with the Southeastern division of the DEA in Atlanta this morning and they are not aware of any law of this nature coming into effect and I also contacted another pain clinic locally tha...

morphine and norco together, or spaced out
5 Replies RSS Share
Hello! My name is Mark and I've had heart surgery a week and a half ago. Now, I have norco 10/325 and have been taking them for years. However, my doctors at the hospital had me stop taking norco while inpatient, and have prescribed me morphine 30 er along with tramadol 100mg. A morphine at waking and when going to sleep, and three tramadol doses between. Can I swap the tramadol for my norco? I did so today and haven't felt well. Chills, cold sweats and light fever, but those are all common with heart surgery as it's a rough battle to fight off pneumonia while your lungs heal. So... Instead of taking a norco for my last dose I went back to tramadol to see if it'll work. Am I safe? Can I take morphine and norco? Help please! ## Legitimate people with chronic pain issues a...

How strong is a 15 mg ER morphine vs 30mg oxycodone
15 Replies RSS Share
I was taking 30mg oxycodone and the doctor switched to 15 mg Morphine ER and 15mg oxycodone and the pain is the worst it's been in the last 8 months. Am i going crazy or is it possible that the morphine does nothing for me. And if so I can't see the doctor for another 7 days ## 15mg er morphine is the least amount available in the er class of pain meds, er stands for extended release, this means that basically you are receiving 15 mg per 6 hrs, over a 12 hr period. and obviously you receive half of the dose you were getting with oxycodone. long story short, you Dr.isn't doing you any favors, only reducing your pain meds and increasing your pain!, 15 mg er morph doesn't do much at all! ## Morphine when taken by mouth is super weak. I am suprised you didnt have some feelin...

Chronic Pain Sufferers
2 Replies RSS Share
I am truly concerned about all of the people who are chronic pain sufferers who are unable to find satisfactory treatment. Several years ago, after 20 years of taking all of the usual pain meds, I stumbled across the "Spinal Chord Stimulator" and the "Morphine Pain Pump". I have had a pain pump over a year now and it has truly changed my life. Of course, like every new pain treatment, they were only used on cancer patients, etc. But they are being used now for chronic pain sufferers who have a definable, (diagnosed by reputable Dr's) untreatable pain source. The company that manufactures these products is MEDTRONICS. I promise you I do not work for them and I am not being compensated for this. I just know what it is like to suffer debilitating pain. I also understand...

Morphine IR 15mg
2 Replies RSS Share
Recently the doctor prescribed morphine 15mg ER which was too strong and made me so incredibly sick. I've tried everything else on the marked, but those made me "deathly ill" as well. He then changed me to 15mg Morphine IR 4 times a day, and it usually always lasts about 4 hours until the burning pain in my back returns. Yesterday I only took one tab, and was fine all day, but this morning the burning pain is back with a vengence! Will I get better constant pain relief taking 4 a day whether I feel I need them or not? I simply just need a new spine, but that isn't possible of course and trying to figure out if morphine IR is cumulative in the body, and therefore I should take the 4 a day whether I feel I need it or not. Thanks! ## Yes, while they do have some immediate e...

how to avoid nausea and vomiting from morphine tablets
3 Replies RSS Share
How do I avoid the horrible nausea and vomiting from my 30mg ER morphine pills prescribed to me. It is causing this on a weekend and no offices are open or available other than the e r which this is not a real emergency? ## Hello, Kelly! How are you? Sorry about the problem that you're having. Have you tried taking them with food, or milk? In many cases that can help, because they can be very rough on an empty stomach. ## How can I stop the dizziness? I can't get it to stop. I've been taking 30mg for lower back pain. ## Take it with gravol. Gravol is an antiemetic which helps deal with balance and could help with dizziness
