Adderall Backorder (Page 35)
(Newest replies first)
Updated
I take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?
Re: Cyr (# 1281)
@cyr
If you are in Palm Beach County I can almost guarantee you that a Publix west of Military will fill a 2 month supply for a new costumer. If it's a Medicare issue that makes Publix have certain compliance rules, I can't say. But Rhodes 30mg tabs are decent (relative to the low baseline of quality these days) and Lannett 15mg are available I'm told. MALLINKRODT Dextroamphetamine Sulfate 10 mg IR tabs at Publix is also an option. I spoke to them today and they said their warehi shows in stock. Again, Palm Beach County.
Re: Rcma666 (# 1268)
This was an interesting read--adhdrolIercoaster. I had to switch from brand name Adderall to generic in 2019 due to the cost. I was finding Barr then Teva at Walgreens until early 2020.
I have no idea how I will proceed. My doctor said today they didn't know of any pharmacy that was taking new patients for Adderall.
Publix was not helpful.
MY OPINION is the DEA and FDA are hoping those of us who require Adderall to function will just go away and die.
It also makes me wonder how many non controlled generic drugs are sub standard. Could that be causing deaths among unsuspecting people with heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, etc.
The Quora and Reddit forums on ADHD and Adderall do not seem to discuss the shortage.
When I became stable on Adderall in 2007, I stopped doing research.
Re: Tripple B (# 1277)
What are you talking about ? You cannot go by what others say, especially on the internet. You need reliable and accurate proof not opinions.
Re: Tripple B (# 1277)
I'm confused a bit - perhaps you can clarify. For the most part this forum has been an effective way to exchange information, experience, tips and suggestions. It's awesome. Your post said "supposedly" (is this based on an authoritative source, journal, press release, statute?). If it's not first hand info, or being sourced by a vetted source, then unfortunately it's just rumor, or "fake news.". I'm not Into protecting the FDA because they definitely need to up their reputation IMHO -- but with global supply chain issues, inflation, publicly traded Pharmacies maximizing earnings for shareholders, Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) capping payments to pharmacies, and wholesalers stocking the cheapest brands available.... I would hesitate to pin national availability and efficacy issues exclusively on "this government". It just doesn't add up and seems like a reductive analysis of a complex issue.
Re: Jeno712003 (# 1211)
I don’t know if you got an answer but I was switch to name brand only for a couple months to see if it would lessen the Reynauds I’m getting. It was $550 for 60 20mg without insurance ?? since I’m losing my insurance soon, I switched back to generic even though it helped.
Yes ,supposedly the FDA got involved to make more changes to Adderall and how it's distributed which created a shortage of Adderall . So now the Adderall prescribed patients had to switch to generic which has now created a massive shortage. Everything this new government touched litetally turns to shot
Interesting update!
As all my posts say, I have never had an issue filling since I started to develop relationships with pharmacists who are willing to "have my back.". They're out there...
TODAY....
"We can fill 30mg tabs generic Adderall but it's still Rhodes, not Teva"
Me:. "Could you please check on 15s instead of the 30s?"
"Ok. Yes, we have those in Lannett if you want to have the doctor call it in"
Me: "I usually take straight dextroamphetamine sulfate (generic Zenzedi) but only Aurobindo was available and I can't tolerate it. Could you please check...."
"Yes. We can fill 180 in MALLINKRODT."
Me: curious...nationwide people are having backorder issues. Are you still getting supplied by ABC?
"YES, but we have our own warehouse that stocks large supplies, so we don't have to order directly from ABC like other pharmacies".
Publix.
And yes... Focalin is a dud. Anecdotally it's really good for hyperactive kids who can't focus. It mellows them out.
Re: Merriam (# 1256)
Miriam, how are you doing with the Camber now?
I can't even manage to get to the grocery store or take a shower.
Re: Rcma666 (# 1268)
As Gina says it can be a serious issue for some people like me. I am very concerned for those of us with multiple psychiatric disorders. I attempted to file a report with the FDA but I am not sure it went through.
Re: Sassy Lady (# 1271)
I am not finding that the Focalin works very well. Not potent enough at 2x10mg daily. If there is no Adderall that works for me this week, I will have him transfer the Focalin20mg TID. It does leave a weird taste in my mouth, has a roller coaster affect on my thinking and energy, but does allow me to get some things done. Best wishes to you and your sister. I try not to be fearful but I am.
Re: Cyr (# 1269)
Laws that pertain to Adderall also pertain to Ritalin, Dexedrine (Dextroamphetamine), etc. The laws do not specify Adderall or similar drugs by name. But I'm sure you are already aware of that.
Re: Cyr (# 1270)
Cyr, hang in there. My sister struggles just like you. My anxiety got under control in 2012 when my psychiatrist put me on Neurontin. I thank God for that drug. Years ago I was prescribed the typical benzos but then became addicted and abused them. The withdrawal was unbearable but then when Neurontin was prescribed my life got good again. I am like you with doing better at night. Mornings are brutal and I struggle most of the day functioning and concentrating. I hope the Adderall situation improves and we can all get back on TEVA brand which seems to work best for most. I may ask my doc about Focalin. Something else has to work. I hope so
Re: Rcma (# 1263)
I do much better late at night. Not so well in the mornings. My main issue is lack of motivation and concentrating for long periods of time. More than a couple of hours. Even with brand name Adderall, I failed to complete many, many projects. I have social anxiety disorder so I do much better with the written word than actually speaking.
The Focalin drops off abruptly after 3 hours which Adderall did not. I took 5- 10mg IR so I could adjust my dose each day. When I switched to generic doc increased to 3-20mg. I still struggle most days with an excellent day perhaps once a week. Such is life. Thank you for saying I appear to be coping. A lifetime of faking.
Re: BlessedLady (# 1264)
No joke? I was speaking of laws specific to Adderall. There are laws specific to opioids but not Adderall or other stimulants. Dear Lady, I was a pharmacy technician for 17 years. I have a little understanding of laws pertaining to controlled substances. I would appreciate it if you did not address me as if I am a child. Thank you.
This makes sense. Everything changed for the worse in 2019 and AUROBINDO and Lannett started dominating the marketplace. Follow the $.

Re: Sp33dy (# 1265)
The FDA usually makes announced visits to manufacturers overseas. That means they know the inspectors are coming and they have time to straighten things out and put on a show for the inspectors.
Re: Jeno712003 (# 1191)
It was absolutely not you. Aurobindo did the same to me. I’m still picking up the pieces after that garbage destroyed a month of my life. It didn’t even occur to me that it was possible to receive a bunk prescription for adderall
Re: Sassy Lady (# 1207)
Stay the hell away from any Aurobindo. They actually threw me into withdrawals without any warning whatsoever. If I were a betting man, I’d wager that these generics contain a much much lower dose of the d-isomers if there is any at all. I lost an entire month of productivity… My heart breaks for everyone that begins to unexpectedly withdraw like I did…
Aurobindo see the U30’s.

Re: Cyr (# 1261)
Adderall is a Schedule II drug. State and federal laws that pertain to Schedule II drugs pertain to Adderall
Re: Cyr (# 1261)
A few hours reading indicates that you're able to focus and comprehend over a good period of time. Your replies on this forum are well articulated, grammatically correct and fleshed out with detail. Seems like your treatment plan is helping you.
