I have swelling in my feet and ankles which causes soreness. It seems to happen when I take hydrocodone for pain in my knees after double knee replacement. Can hydrocodone causing swelling. They seems to have fever in them and are red ## Hello, Buck! How are you doing? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. No, that is not something the FDA lists as a known side effect of this medication. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Have you had this checked out by your doctor? It is very important that you do so, especially after the type of surgery you've had. Something may be affecting your circulation. Do you have high blood pressure?

Does anyone know does this medication works for swollen feet and ankles? ## It helps me very much. ## I have been taking Furosemide for a couple of years now and it definately helps with swollen feet and ankles. I take 40mg twice a day. I have never had any problems taking this medicine. ## My daughter has been prescribed Furosdmide 20mg and Diamox 500 mg for idiopathic intracranial hypertension. She has been on them 7 days and so far has not had increased urination. Has anybody who has been on these drugs know how long it usually takes for this to kick in? Also, does anybody know someone else with this condition? She has just been diagnosed with it and we do not know of anybody with it. Thanks. ## Hi, Patricia. I had the same pathology a few years ago. I started on wellbutrin and was happier and thinner. Then Kaiser switched me to generic Bupropion because they don't cover brand name and ever since I've experienced worse depression, gained weight and have constant edema in stomach and legs. I'm really concerned about this. Doctors and pharmacists are always too busy or distracted to listen to questions or find answers as to WHY this is, so I'm done. I'm going off and never coming back to these drugs. I guess I'll start with St. John's Wort and Bacopa. ## I find it sad that doctor's and pharmacists couldn't take a couple minutes of their time to answer this question for you on the spot. When it comes down to it, certain "inactive" ingredients that may or may not be present in each brand, are ...

What's the best way to deal with liver related edema in my legs, ankles, and feet? Currently taking 40mg furosemide and 50-100mg of Spironolactone. Weight gain related to edema. I'm on a sodium restricted diet, and drink about 2qts. of water daily. At one time I was at 4th Stage Liver Failure, I have regular banding of esophageal varices, procedures every six months. Taking low dose of Nadolol to keep portal pressure down. Can you make any suggestions as to how I can help myself? ## My sister had/edema, she has not discussed all she has done but she goes to a therapist now 3 times a week and they work on her legs in pushing the fluid out and on her stomach and she said they massage and push, wish I could tell you more. I am concerned about my mother because she is experiencing ankle edema for 3 months now while taking norvasc. and one time my mother mentioned to me she experienced epistaxis (nosebleed) while walking in the mall. she said she took norvasc that morning before going to the mall and when the nurse checked her bp it was high:160/100.after taking a rest her bp normalized. when she asked her physician then she only prescribed diuretic to subside the edema. should we change her medicine and should we be alarmed by such incidence? ## The edema is a normal side effect, however, the elevated blood pressure and nose bleed are not! I suggest speaking to her doctor.

i have been having trouble with water retention every since i was put on steriods which i am no longer on. i am also taking 40 mb. of lasix and 205 mg. of zaroxol. this is to alimanate all the fluid. what still have water retention and the doctor i visited today told me that cardizem would also retain fluid, so she told me to stop taking the carizem. what i won't to know is the information i am receiving correct or not. hoping to nget some insight on the matter. ## Cardizem, a 'calcium channel blocker' is well known for ankle/foot swelling, and it's not difficult to extend that propensity to include more of the legs ... My own experience took only one day for exactly that to happen: awakening with massive ankle/foot edems (where being horizontal during slleep would NOT b...

hello guys, I've been taking sleepasil for 2 days now and it helps me sleep but when i woke up in the morning i notice this edema in my hands and feet. I don't know if this is a serious a side effect of sleepasil. Does anybody experience this side effects? Please post some reply...tnx ## I've been using Sleepasil for a few years now (on and off), and I've never heard of a case like yours. It can very well be an allergic reaction to one or a few of Sleepasil's ingredients. When you discontinued, did the edema go away? I would suggest you discontinue usage. ## Sleepasil is just a dietary supplement that's used to help with sleep issues, so it's very odd that you'd experience such a side effect from it. I'm prescribed OxyContin 20mg every 8 hours for pain. I'm having severe edema in my legs, knees, and feet. Is this a common side effect? Also, could it cause me kidney problems, since it's also causing edema? I'm starting to notice it seems my kidneys aren't working the same. Some pain in urinary tract, as well as I noticed 2 days ago a minute amount of blood after urinating. ## It is hard to be sure, while it is possible, according to FDA reports, there are also other conditions that could cause these symptoms, including urinary tract infections, and kidney stones. Are you on any other medications? Have you ever had a UTI, or kidney stones? Have you consulted your doctor? Has there been any change?

I started taking Xalkori about 9 weeks ago for stage IV ROS1 lung caner. My cough disappeared after the first pill so I feel very fortunate that I'm responding so well to it. I'm slowly getting back my energy and am able to breath easily now. However, I have edema in my ankles and feet and my digestive tract has been hard to regulate. I want to stay active but my feet and ankles swell so much I can't be on them all day. Has anyone found a holistic or natural approach to these side effects that works and is safe to take with the pills? ## There's no way to know what natural remedies may be safe to take given your medical condition and the medication you're taking. Thus, it would really be best to consult your doctor to see what may help with the edema. It is a common ...

I did 12 weeks of Harvoni and cleared the virus, finished treatment June 7th 2015. During treatment had some edema of feet and legs, it went away. Now 2 months later having edema of hands every morning upon waking. Anyone else reporting these symptoms ? Severe joint pain also. ## Hello, Kittykat! How are you feeling? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. However, you aren't the first person to have reported such a thing. It is unusual for a medication to keep causing side effects so long after finishing treatment, though, so it hasn't actually been definitively tied together, yet. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, headache and weakness. Have you consulted your doctor? It would be best to...

Since starting coveram 10/10, I have developed a dry cough and lower leg and ankle edema. The cough is disrupting my sleep and the edema is uncomfortable and interfering with shoe comfort. I have been on this medication for 3 months. My BP is wonderfully controlled, hate the thought of having to change medication. ## Hello, Sue! How are you feeling? I'm sorry about the side effects that you're experiencing. But yes, you'll need to change medications. The dry cough is a side effect that doesn't stop, once it's started and the edema has the potential to be dangerous. Have you tried any other medications or is this the first? ## I was taking Coveram for about 2 1/2 weeks but developed a persistent dry cough and some ankle swelling. Changed medications at that point. How...

My mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer a little over a year ago. She went through a debulking surgery and platinum based chemotherapy and was in remission for just under 6 months. The ovarian cancer recurred again this fall and she has been on a taxotere / gemzar combination. It is very hard for her because one of the numerous side effects of the taxotere that she gets is the abdominal edema, which makes it hard for her to move and breath. It is also worrying because prior to the debulking, the first symptom that her doctor took seriously was accumulation of ascites in her abdomen which is very similar to the edema. It was also the first thing that recurred that alerted her to the return of the cancer. I have a couple of questions which her doctor has not been able to answer. This ...
