I was told that Norvasc can cause extra growth of gum tissue, is that so? ## I noticed swelling in my gum. The doctor reduced the dosage from 5mg-2.50mg and my gum was ok afterwards ## Yes, Norvasc has been reported to cause overgrowth of gum tissue (gingival hyperplasia) as a side effect, but it is very rare, occurring in less than 0.01% of those that take it. More common side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, hypotension, and bleeding gums. Ref: Medline Plus Amlodipine/Norvasc Is there anything else I can help with?

My doctor gave me prestiq about 6 weeks ago, because we were having no luck controlling my hotflases with hormones. I had a complete hysterectomy @ 37 a year ago and the flashes were a nightmare! This medicine almost COMPLETELY stopped the hotflashes and helped with the mood swings! I was amazed that an antidepressent was the answer! FYI, I also sleep better and have been diagnosed with figromyalgia, which the symptoms are a little more tolerable. ## Some of the things I have read about Prestique are scary. My sister takes it and it has stopped her hot flashes and it has improved her mood. Medco does not cover it and I was wondering how much it costs? I also have high blood pressure (controlled on Norvasc) do you know if that would be a problem? ## It has become increasingly more common...

Can someone answer me. Thanks. ## My doctor had changed me the high blood pressure medication three times, finally he prescribed Norvasv 5mg and I have the same problem like Diana. I went to see the doctor and he told me that the swelling is the side effect of this medication. He prescribed me water pills to take for this condition. Diana, you need to talk to you doctor about, maybe he will change the medication or he will give you water pills to solve the problem ## Can I take norvasc and fertility blend sp-1 ## That is correct, the edema can be a side effect of this ...

I am concerned about taking both prescriptions, as I am tired all the time. I tell my Dr., but he says if it keeps the pressure down keep taking them. Just wondered if I am the only one out there feeling this way. ## no i feel the same way very tired all the time can not even clean house ## That is a nornal side effect for these, it should, however, wear off after a few weeks as your body adjusts to the med and the change in your blood pressure. If it doesn't, then please speak to your doctor again and make sure to stress how severe it is. ## i also take both medicines norvasac and linsopril. I just started and yes, it makes me tired. ## I take Lisinopril/HCTZ, Lipitor, and Norvasc (1 year). I've been running for years, but can barley run 5 minutes without back and leg pain. I...

Can Neurogen E help me cure arthritis? Is there no side effect in taking this? Can i take it every day? ## Neurogen-E is a nutritional supplement, it contains a complex of B vitamins and vitamin E. It's often given to people with conditions such as yours, because a deficiency in these vital nutrients can aggravate your condition. However, since it is not an actual medication, the side effect profiles for it have not been studied, as is done for actual drugs. Some people have reported nausea, after taking it, though. Has your doctor advised you to use this? ## oh now i know why i suffer from nausea every morning, it is because i take Neurogen -E. Is there any alternative supplement for this? ## Tasy, any alternative you take, that still has the large amount of B Vitamins in it is lik...

My husband's age is 69. He is taking Amlodipine Besylate 5mg. He has just been prescribed Cialis and Flomax 0.4mg. for ED and BPH. Is there any "current" research showing a risk for lowering blood pressure to a dangerous low when taking all 3 meds conurrently? I have read that the FDA approved Cialis for urinary symptoms of prostate enlargement in 2011. His urinary problem is not severe...why could he not use Cialis to treat both ED & BPH and drop the Flomax? Also he plans to have cataract surgery and I have read that IFIS is caused by alpha blockers & can complicate surgery even months after stopping use of Flomax. ( He has not filled the RX for Cialis nor Flomax yet). Thank you for your time.

Hello this white pill with 243 on it should be a generic name for norvasc 10mg its should be the generic name amlodipine besylate 10mg ## Yes, that is correct. That tablet with the U 243 marking does contain 10mgs of Amlodipine, which is a calcium channel blocker. This medication is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Typical side effects may include dizziness, nausea, drowsiness, headache, increased urination, stomach pain and dry cough. Are there any other questions or concerns? ## I I'm taking Amlodipine Besylate 10mg tab 128 c. When I went to go get my 3 month refill they gave me 243 u 10mg. Is that the same medication? Why is the pill much bigger. Please advise.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of Norvasc as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. How are you doing, now? Has the...

I started taking 10 mg of Norvasc 4 days ago and my feet & ankles were swollen to capacity. They almost hurt and they felt very hot. It was given to me for high blood pressure. ## This is one of the bad side effects of the drug. I've been taking Norvasc for almost 6 years now. It had the same effect on me and I can only take 5 mg. a day without the swelling. I have also developed a rash on my lower legs as well and was told by a dermatologist that it could be from the medicine. I take 3 drugs to try and control my BP but I have yet to find anything that controls things. I've had hypertension for 20 years now and I fear that any day I will have a stroke or heart attack or kidney problems. Hope you will talk to your doctor about your ankles swelling. Most people have that prob...

Had massive headache too. No leg cramps yet. My nephrologist change my medicine norvasc to coveram im afraid to take it because somebody told me covernam can high my creatinine and potassium is it true? ## Yes, it may cause such issues as a side effect, according to the NIH, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased urination. However, not everyone experiences such side effects, so the only way to find out if you will is by actually trying the medication. The same risks were associated with the Norvasc. Are you on any other medications? ## Yes its true the coveram make high my creatine so my doctor gave me nebovolol nebilet. So im taking nebivolol in the morning and norvasc in the evening. Hi! Is it ok to split the dose of amlodipine; 5mg in the morning and 5mg in the evening? What could be the possible effect of doing this? ## Yes, that can be done, unless you've been given some specific reason why you shouldn't do so. Most doctors prescribe them to be taken in one dose, to help ensure that patients are more compliant on taking them. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?

Yes, they both contain the same active ingredient, which is Amlodipine, so they are basically interchangeable, as long as your doctor approves. I started Norvasc, 5 mg, on 12/29. I was switched from Lisinopril, because I was experiencing angioedema, a common side effect with Lisinopril. I've been on it for a few weeks and I am beginning to wonder if this drug is causing the scary side effects I've been experiencing. Yesterday my husband rushed me to the ER, because I suddenly couldn't remember how to put a leash on a dog, or do the most simple task like open the door. As he began to drive to the hospital my heart started pounding furiously and I seriously thought I might die. The ER told me it was a panic attack and sent me home with Ativan. Then this afternoon I awoke from a nap with my heart pounding furiously. It was pounding so hard that it was echoing in my head and I got very flushed. I called my doctor and sp...

the pharmacy gave me the wrong meds round small white pill with 128 on the front C on the back. . He supposed given me norvasc? Is this same meds.? ## Hello, Annie! How are you? The tablet with the C 128 marking is manufactured by Cipla USA and they list it as containing 10mgs of Amlodipine, so it is a generic for Norvasc. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been taking 10 mg of Norvasc daily for a year and a half and have suffered all the negative side effects. I also take 80 mg of Lisinopril daily. My BP prior to adding Norvasc was anywhere from 165/95 to 200/95 (at this time I was taking Cozaar and Lisinopril). BP is now 124/85 to 145/95 BUT the side effects are so severe my quality of life is all but destroyed and I am pretty sure it is not the Lisinopril causing the side effects. My cardiologist gave me an Rx for 5 mg of Norvasc and told I can reduce the dosage but he can't guarantee my BP will not sky rocket. MY QUESTION IS, HAS ANYONE REDUCED THE DOSAGE THEY WERE TAKING OF NORVASC AND DID THEIR BP INCREASE APPRECIABLY? ## Hello, Alan! How are you? That is always a risk, when lowering the dosage of such a medication. Why di...

I am taking a low dose of pretizone for poison ivy. I have two days left on pretizone. I take norvasc and a diuretic for hypertension. Can I have a glass of wine while on these meds? ## Hello, Nanny! How are you? It is never a good idea to mix alcohol with prescription medications. It can worsen the side effects of them, which may make one drink affect you as if you'd had 2 and so on. Additionally, alcohol can be cardiotoxic, so it may not be safe for you drink. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Your answer was helpful. My poison ivy is disappearing and your answer is the one I expected. Thanks for responding.

I was given repace and ascarid which I took for about 25 days after which I realized I was itching alot and my body was developing severe rashes. I stopped taking the medicine and saw a doctor after 2 days. By then my pressure had started shooting up. The doctor gave me norvasc and ebastel for my itching. The itch did not stop so I went back to the doc who gave me prednisone for five days. The itch is still there and everytime I scratch, my skin turns red, sore and since the prednisone, it swells from the inside. I have scratched until my skin has opened up. What could be causing this and how can I solve this as the itch is too much? I am thinking of going back to the doctor.
