Re: Jillian (# 5) Expand Referenced Message

Did you show this new doctor your previous records ? Did you discuss how long you had been on the other doctor's dosage ? I would keep on asking him to up your dosage and tell him that what he is prescribing you now isn't working at all ! Other than checking out of the area , then you might be stuck . However you could try anesthesiologist. They often specialize in pain management as well . Just Google them ! Good luck ! I know it's frustrating, I've been there before !

Yes, you should go to a pain management doctor . You might need a referral from your your primary care physician.

Oxycodone is tylenol with codeine and oxycontin is a much powerful pain reliever without tylenol, depending on the milligram.

I know for a fact you can get more than 120 in CA. I was getting 240 15mg IR oxy's a month and now I'm currently getting 150 30mg IR Oxy's a month. Your doctor or the office may have a limit of 120 a month and that's around the maximum daily morphine equivalent set by the government. So that may be why. I'm blessed with the most awesome doctor. He listens to me and knows I'm not just a junky trying to feel high and I would never sell my pills.

Oxycodone 30mg doesn't have acetaminophen and is immediate release, the OxyContin is extended release or long acting while oxycodone is a short acting medicine, so OxyContin will work longer at controlling your pain than the oxycodone

Honey im so sorry you are going thrust all your pain. Im groom Mo. and am on30mgOxies one every3hrs. See if your family physician if he can prescribe you some Suboxone. If he wont write you a script for Oxies. My family physician is the one who writes my scripts for my Oxies. He is a great Dr. Its a damn shame that because of all these druggies that misuse them that we have to pay for their mistakes.I wish you luck. Have a blessed day and God bless

Highly addictive stuff. Seen plenty of good people ruin their lives by accident just doing what the doctor ordered. It's all about money. People dont want to hear it but Physical therapy is the best way to reduce pain. Im in the field. I know plenty of research and techniques

Firstly if you aren't absolutely sure what you are talking about I suggest not giving advice. People do expierence real debilitating pain. Not all are looking for a high. It's not the same. For chronic pain OxyContin is a long acting pill. Works for 12 hours. Usually given in conjunction with oxycodone, in my case Percocet for break thru pain usually taken every 4-6 hours. If you are just taking oxycodone it only last about 4 hours and you have nothing running in the background.

I got 5 mg oxycodone when I had my wisdom teeth out and they didn't help me at all. Ended up getting a 30 mg oxy cosine and it did the trick perfect. Every surgery I've had they give me those things and they're never enough. I think you could be bumpee up a bit.

The difference between the 2 is oxycontin is time released and oxycodone is not its instant release

Its the exact ones ive been on for over a year and i live them. Everyones didferent tho. Some "fillers" dont work well for some, perfectly for others. I personally love them. Im on them 3 x a day and a fentanyl patch. Both work perfectly for me. Good luck. Im in Arkansas!! Very conservative State lol

I know this is an old post but if my reply helps one person, then it's worth my time to type it out. I'm Not proud of the fact that I'm Very knowledgeable when it comes to prescription drugs, particularly "Pain Killers". Briefly: my experience goes back 30 years. It started when I was 18. In 1984 my first husband overdosed on opiates. Prior to his Death he was spending Every Minute of Every Day of his life shopping for pills or better known as "Making Doctor's" & I was witness to a Multitude of "Pain Pills". Being exposed to this environment, I found an interest in the life of "Pain Killers". Then, I (accidentally) found out my need was legitimate due to "Advanced Osteoarthritis". My "Osteoarthritis" is Genetic, the "Autoimmune Disease" is part of it too. I've been taking a combination of "Lortab" (Norco), Oxycodone/Contin & Phentinol Off/On (Mostly On) for a few Decades. Plus others for brief periods.

I've also taken (Separately) "Diet Pills" & "Sleeping Pills" (Barbiturates), Valium and a multitude of "Antidepressants". My first advice is "DO NOT EVER MIX" Barbiturates & "Pain Pills" such as Oxycodone/Norco or any kind of Pain pill with a sleeping pill, IT WILL KILL YOU!! As far as taking any kind of Pain pill w/diet pills are concerned...... Well, it's basically a waste of pills, money and time. The "Diet Pill" will cancel out the pain pill. "Pain Pills" are considered "A Downer" & "Diet Pills" are an "Upper". (Betcha can't tell I grew up in the 70's/80's). So if you're finding your Pain Pills aren't working and that you're needing to take more & more Pain Pills to get "Pain Relief" but also taking "Diet Pills" that would be the reason why you're STILL in PAIN!! Basically if you're trying to lose weight Via Diet Pill BUT, you're always in Pain...... Figure out a different Diet Plan.
Also, if you Don't "REALLY" have a legitimate reason for taking ANY kind of Pill & you're just popping pills in order to take away the Hell's of Reality "STOP IT!!" Or you'll end up like my first Husband.

As far as the difference between "Oxycodone" & "Oxycontin" are concerned - Oxycontin are time released Oxycodone. If you take them as prescribed they're safe. IF you take an "Oxycontin & and you Smash it or chew it up you have a HUGE chance of Overdosing. The Oxycontin have Little Tiny Bead like balls inside. Each little bead or ball has a certain amount of the narcotic inside. For example, if you have a 30 mg. Oxycontin, each little bead had (approximately) 30 Mg's of narcotic inside. So you would be taking 30 times 30 of the narcotic ALL AT ONCE. The Oxycodone is just one dose / one time. IF you have No Idea of what you're doing Ask Your Doctor. OR...... Hey, you could even call some Random Pharmacy. They will be honest with you and tell you the wise steps to take regarding "Pain Management"....Above All - Stay Safe.
