Hospitalized for 50 days on painkillers and need advice
30 Replies RSS Share
I was hospitalized when I couldn't walk and found it was a MRSA infection that spread to my heart, lungs and both hips. I am still here leaving in five days. I must use a walker because it's too painful to walk. I was on IV Dilaudid up to 2mg per hour, weaned down to 2 mg every 3-4 hours; then three weeks ago they switched to 37.5 mcg Fentanyl every 72 hrs and 20mg Oxycodone a day. I'm going home in five days and no longer have a family doctor... Is the hospital going to send me home on something or am I going to suffer till I get a doctor at home? Will there be withdrawals? It's been 50 days of painkillers supervised. ## Hi, I hope you get to feeling better soon, that being said, you better start asking every doctor you come in contact with and ask them these questions,...

Doriden/glutethimide availability
14 Replies RSS Share
Does anyone know where one could obtain glutethimide or it's brand name Doriden (CIBA Company)? Am in Canada where Doriden was discontinued in late 1980s and I was told Doriden discontinue was international. Perhaps there is now a generic form containing glutethimide available now as I would assume CIBA trademark rights would have by now expired. As the benzodiazapine replacement meds for Doriden are more addictive and dangerous (especially if mixing with alcohol & other drugs) it sure would be great to be able to go back to Doriden or glutethimide which were more effective and safer. A shame that the public was switched over to benzodiazipines (i.e. lorazapam, diazapam) when a better/safer product was available all in the name of profits and economics. Any help out there is mos...

Price Jump on Mallinckrodt oxycodone 10 mg and acetaminophen
4 Replies RSS Share
My husband suffers from 2 types of cancer - Non-Hodgkins lymphoma and prostate. He uses Mallinckrodt oxycodone 10 mg tabs for pain control (especially back pain caused from tumors). Through trial and error, he found that the Mallinckrodt product works best for him and produces minimum side effects. He regularly fills his Rx at a hospital associated pharmacy where he sees his oncologist and has testing done. When he went to get his Rx this week, the pharmacist told him they were not going to carry Mallinckrodt any longer due to an enormous price jump. Right now, his co-pay is around $38.00. With the price jump, he would have to special order the Mallinckrodt and pay around $ 370.00. We don't know what to do. Why is there no control over how much the big pharmas can increase their pri...

small, round, white pill marked E311 ## I FOUND 2 PILLS MARKED E311; WHAT ARE THEY? ## i found a small white pill marked E311 i was wondering what it is. ## E311 is generic Tramadol 50mg, generic for Ultram. This is a non-narcotic pain reliever used for mild to moderate pain. Although it is non-narcotic it has been proven to be very addictive. Side effects include loss of appetite, euphoria, nausea, insomnia, among others. ## This medication has since been reclassified as an opioid due to its addicted tendencies. The FDA lists its other side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, and headache. Please not that this classification may change, again, at any time, the FDA has changed it several times, since it's approval and release on the market. Is the...

camber oxycodone
2 Replies RSS Share
So this s what I heard. The Walgreens brand that everyone was accustomed to was a Watson product and apparently a lot of their distribution was in Puerto Rico. The Hurricanes that hit the area in PR affected the distribution and production of Oxycodone at Walgreens. I went to almost all of there stores in mid December without any luck finally I resorted to CVS which had a Mallinkrodt product. Walgreens had to resolve their shortage as they were losing customers that 10 day period they negotiated with Camberwhich is actually a company from India that just set up shop and company in New York September of 2017. So I don't know if that is the product they are sticking with until Watson products become reliable or if they signed a contract. All I can say is I hope they have higher qualit...

Oxymorphone ER Generic By Global Pharmacy
223 Replies RSS Share
Hi, Since I heard that Impax finally got the green light to distribute Oxymorphone ER (Opana ER) generic through Global Pharmacy. I didn't hesitate to rush to my PM doc and he instantly had me switch to this new drug. He prescribed me 40 mg twice per day to treat my busted back & fibromyalgia. I noticed the pill is round in shape with G74 on one side with nothing on the other. The color for the 40 mg ER tablet is an orangy/gold color. Ever since Endo ruined their product with the new TRF formulation. I promised myself to jump back on the bandwagon as soon as the generics were released. Today is a great day for all who suffer chronic pain. Yay! 8-) Moon ## I am very glad that it's helping you so well. Yes, the generics are available now, but it may be a bit before they can ea...

Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen, and Tylenol
4 Replies RSS Share
Can someone please explain the difference between Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen, and Tylenol? I’m already maxed out on maximum Ibuprofen at 1600 mg a day spread out 4xs a day and a (really low dose of Gabapentin 200 mg 3xs a day) for forearm pain. The Ibuprofen isn’t enough when the pain hits hard and fast despite having a high tolerance for pain. ## Acetaminophen (also known as paracetamol or APAP) is the same thing as Tylenol. Tylenol is just the retail "brand" name. It is not an NSAID. It can be hard on your liver but typically won't cause ulcers or bleeding. Ibuprofen (brand name Advil) IS an NSAID which can increase your risk of bleeding, raise blood pressure and increase the chance of cardiovascular ailments. Tylenol and Ibuprofen are safe to take together and c...

I found it in my kid's room and I wanna know what it is and what it looks like plz! ## Is the marking possibly a stylized C with 230 on the other side? It should be a round, yellow pill. If so, it is manufactured by Alvogen and they list it as containing 10mgs of Oxycodone, and 325mgs of Acetaminophen, it is a generic for Percocet. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.

hydrocodone ip 115
21 Replies RSS Share
My pharmacy just switched to the Avkare brand of Norco 7.5. The imprint on it is IP 115. I feel like these do not work at all for me. I would like to know if anyone else that are on these or ever have been on them can let me know how it works/worked for them. ## Hello, Maria! How are you? Has there been any change? As permitted by the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984, there can be fluctuations in generic medications. They are allowed to differ in the amount of the active ingredients by as much as plus or minus 20% of what's in the name brand, additionally, they do not have to measure against each other, only against the name brand. Thus it is possible that this one is a little lower than the prior one you were taking. However, since the differences are slight, most people adjust within a we...

i HAVE 4 BAD DISCS IN MY LOWER BACK ACCORDING TO THE MRI. I AM CURRENTLY TAKING 1- 50 MG TABLET OF TRAMADOL AT BEDTIME AND 1/2 IN THE MORNING. i TAKE THE OTHER 1/2 AROUND 3 IN THE AFTERNOON. CAN I GET ADDICTED TO THIS AMOUNT? ## Hello, Kay! How are you? They can be habit forming, but I think you're confusing dependence with addiction. It's dependence that occurs, when you take something regularly for a long period of time, because your body gets used to it. If you took them for a long time, then suddenly stopped, you'd experience some minor withdrawal effects. Addiction, however, occurs when someone abuses something, because they like the way it makes them feel. But since the way they feel is just due to the side effects, which wear off after awhile, they have to keep taking...

one side of pill is a M and the other side of the pill is T7 ## what type of drug is tramadol hcl 50 mg. is it narcotic, like morphine or codene, is more like accetomedaphen(tylonal), asprin or what? What is it addictive, not addictive, have been given it for pain and having trouble finding out info on it... ## Tramadol is an interesting medication, the FDA has actually changed its classification several times. Basically, when inventing this drug, what they were trying to do was retain the analgesic properties of an opiate, but cut out the side effects and dependence or addiction issues. What they go was a pain killer that is actually somewhere in between. It does not work as effectively as most narcotics and it can cause the same side effects as an opiate, including dependence and addi...

Amneal Pharmaceuticals Hydrocodone 10-325

I have been taking hydrocodone 10-325 (made by Watson) for about a year. I picked up my prescription yesterday and instead of the normal yellow pill, I received a white oblong pill imprinted with m367 on it. I took 2 for breakthrough pain and had no relief what-so-ever. I called the pharmacy and was told that they will no longer be able to get the med from Watson. Does anyone know what has happened? I have chronic pain, and these white ones from Amneal Pharmaceuticals is not going to cut it. Has anyone else experienced this? ## Hello, Dano! How are you? There's no way to know which manufacturer's product your pharmacy will carry at any given time. You might be better served to talk to your doctor about trying a different medication. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the po...

I currently take tylenol #4 for chronic back pain. Will taking Winadeine F 325/8mg provide the same level of pain relief? ## Both of these medications contain Acetaminophen with Codeine, but Winadeine-F is not available in the U.S. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with? ## are they the same?? do they have the same amount of codine

hydrocodone acetaminophen 5-500 3 years old are they still good
7 Replies RSS Share
My doc after looking at my MRI for my back, me having no insurance, sent me to a specialist that i can't afford. He stopped all pain pills and put me off to someone I can't pay to see. So after having pain problems since march of 2013 and being prescribed pain meds, it suddenly stops and he won't refill them. I found some vicodin 5-500 (hydrocodone-Acetaminophen ) from 2011 and wondered if I can still use them for my back pain. ## You could try, they probably won't be as strong. Just try 1at a time though, at 1st ## @sweeper2, This may come as a surprise, but according a study from Harvard Medical School, many medications can remain effective for even up to 15 years beyond their listed expiration date. Yellow pill with T 194 on one side
10 Replies RSS Share
Is this T194 yellow pill a new Percocet? Is it regular release? My pharmacy switched from the A333 version. ## An oblong/oval yellow pill marked with T 194 on one side and blank on the other is reportedly identified as an immediate release 10/325mg generic Oxycodone HCL + Acetaminophen tablet (generic for Percocet). I don't know how new it is, but the manufacturer is listed as Camber Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and the pill itself carries a National Drug Code of 31722-0194. I hope this helps! ## Thank you David. doctors willing to prescribe oxycodone in phoenix
144 Replies RSS Share
Please please please someone direct me to a doctor who will listen and prescribe the amount of oxycodone my son needs. Pain management clinics are a joke and fall short of what we know will keep him comfortable until they can do the therapy or procedures that may be able to get him out of pain so he doesn't have to take it. He only needs 60 mg a day in 4 15 mg doses. That is what we've found works and makes it so he doesn't get sick from the meds and is out of the considerable pain he is in. He can't work because they won't give him enough to function. I have spent so much money I dont have to take care of him! He has Ahccs healthcare coverage! They only give him 3 10mg pills a day which falls short of the care he needs and is in so much pain. I am at my wits end! We...

Just got Camber Pharm generic Percocet at Walgreens instead of the Actavis brand. It's giving me an upset stomach and causing me to feel weird. The FDA warns that it's risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation and dry mouth. NDC code for my information: 0378-6113) ## Me too.
