I was prescribed Dilaudid 2mg every 6 hours as needed for pain after being in the hospital for 5 days getting it through an IV every 2 hours as needed.... The pills I was prescribed were 4mg and I cut them in half.... Am I at serious risk if I take a whole pill for severe pain??? I am embarassed to ask my doctor in fear that he will think I am an addict trying to get a cheap high. This is not the case however. I actually am not a fan of taking pills at all, not even tylenol. The pain is almost unbearable. What do I do??? ## 4mgs is not a dangerous dose, though it is really strong and if you aren't used to taking medications, it will probably hit you very hard and you'll experience more of the side effects. Since it is a potent narcotic, they can include: nausea, drowsiness, dizz...

I live outside of Birmingham, AL. and have been written a script for 16mg Hydromorphone capsules by my (LAST VISIT) Pain Management Doc. I'm switching to new doc closer to home, but in the meantime I’m sitting here with a handful of IR’s and a Piece of Paper! HELP!... Are the capsules even sold in the US? Thanks in advance! ## Hello, Dan! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're having. Yes, they are available here, but it may be hard to find a pharmacy that has them, some have severely cut down how much of these types of medications that they keep in stock. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I can't get my RX for hydromorphone filled anywhere so had it compounded. A tech was showing the pharmacist how to compound it while I waited, so I opened one up to check it when I got home and it had black specks looking like pepper mixed into the white powder. Any explanations? I will not take the caps till I find out what is in them. ## Hello, Nicky! How are you? Most likely, it's just a filler or something they used in the compounding process, but the only person who can give you a definitive answer is the pharmacist that compounded it for you. Don't worry about going in and asking, they are used to getting questions like yours and shouldn't hesitate to help you. The FDA lists this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming ...

iS HYDROMORPHONE the same as Morphine I was just concerned about my aunt. ## No they are not the same drug. Hydromorphone is a derivative of morphine. Hydromorphone is approx. 5x more potent mg for mg than morphine, and is typically given as an alternative to morphine. This information is reference from: Because Hydromorphone is a lot stronger, I personally wouldn't treat them as being similar drugs. I hope this helps! Please post back if you have any other questions or comments to add. ## My drug panel came back for hydromorphine but I only take morphine and embeda. So why did it come back as hydromorphone? Isn't that dilaudid? ## which is better at stopping pain of a broken rib hydrmorphone or morphine? ## My drug panel came back for hydromorphine but I only take morphine and ...

a white thin oblong pill with a triangle like symbol ## There are triangle imprints used by several manufacturers, they are usually generic pills and there are far too many for me to be able to post pictures of them. What does the symbol look like? Is it similar to an hourglass? If so, that's the Ivax logo and they make many different generic products. Are there any other markings on the tablet? Like letters or numbers? ## Pink round pill with triangle with p inside the triangle on top /score mark/ 151 on bottom ## Hello.I am pharmacist from Poland, with large passion to my job...Today I found an oval ,white ,10mm lenght,6mm wide pill with imprinted on one side number 2 and there is a letter u,or n inside triangular ,more like shield of a knight shaped logo. My UA at the my pain management Doctor's office came up positive for Oxycontin, but I am prescribed Hydromorphone 4mg x 3 & Hydrocodone 10/325mg x 4 - why is that? ## Hello, Marie! How are you? Unless they use an actual certified one, which most don't due to the expense, then false alarms are actually very common. Most narcotics are distantly related and produce very similar metabolites in the body. They should be able to send your sample out for more precise lab work that would eliminate that issue. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Small white pill with M on one side and 4 on the other ## Based on the description provided, I can confirm your pill to be Hydromorphone HCL (4 mg). Hydromorphone is used to relieve moderate to severe pain and severe, painful dry coughing. Inactive Ingredients: - Lactose Monohydrate - Magnesium Stearate - Cellulose, Microcrystalline - Stearic Acid Ref: DailyMed ## Can u tell me what forms the M-4mg hydromorphone come in? ## Due to the number of possible side effects, safety of administration and high potential for dependence/abuse, It definitely is not recommended; but based on my research it can be done. I personally don't support this idea, but as long as you understand the risks associated with this method of administration. ## Addiction is rare for chronic pain patients taking ...

Walgreens won't fill my percription of 180 , 8 mg hydromorphone without contacting doctor to get a code to fill is this true my doctors office was closed so I have to try again tomorrow ## I am also on 8mg of Hydromorphone and have my Rx's filled regularly at Walgreens. The max perscribbed dose of this medication is 4x/day which comes to a monthly script total of 120 tablets. My thoughts are that a special code is needed/required by law for your script due to the fact that your doctor is perscribbing more than the maximum allowed dosage for this medication. ## The maximum prescribed doses per day can actually be 6 doses, since it can be taken every 4 hours, if needed that often. However, this really has to do with the new dispensing laws that are being enforced. Many pharmacies ...

As a way to end a long battle with neuropathic pain from chemotherapy that started with hydrocodone and ended with 100 mcg Duragesic Patch/48 hours, I wanted to get off the patches and so first brought down, slowly, to 50 mcg Duragesic/48 hours and then I wanted to move to a different drug - we switched to hydromorphone, beginning at 8 mg 6 x day for 4 days, then 4 mg a 11 x day for 7 days, then eventually to 4 mg 8 x a day = 32 mgs a day. I am not metabolizing this well and in a lot of pain and discomfort, and so we are switching to a drug I am unfamiliar with, called Lucynta. I am to take 100 mg 4 x a day, and in two weeks go down 1/2 pill every 2 weeks until I'm done. Has anyone used Lucynta for weaning? I understand that I am fortunate to be weaning from hydromorphone rather tha...

I have been on Oxycodone 30 mg IR for more than ten years and it has worked fine. Now my doctor has changed to Hydromorphone 8 mg that doesn't work. Can my doctor make me change my pain meds? ## Is that morphine? Morphine didn’t work for me. They switched me from 5 mg oxycodone 4x a day to 15 mg er morphine and it was awful. Yes they can make you switch, but if you can come up with some legitimate side effects they may switch you back. When someone tried to make me take oxycontin instead of oxycodone I didn’t even feel safe to drive it was so strong. The doctor let me switch back. I don’t want meds that make me LESS functional. ## No, it is different than Morphine, though still related to it. Hydromorphone is stronger than Oxycodone, you only need 7mgs of it to equ...

This tablet contains 4mgs of Chlorpheniramine, which is an antihistamine that's used to treat allergies. Side effects may include dizziness, drowsiness and dry mouth. Been on 12-8mg dilaudid for decades, tapering down to 120mg so far. Pain dr added 2mg SL Buprenorphine twice a day. Been using for 8 weeks. No problems at all. No withdrawal whatsoever. The added buprenorphine in combination with dilaudid works incredibly well for nerve pain. Am going to continue to taper dilaudid to a lower amount slowly. May or may not be on both for a long time. Will increase SL buprenorphine as I decrease dilaudid. Who knows, I may end up taking no dilaudid, but only if the nerve pain does not build up with a vengeance. Anyone else having the same benefit I have had taking both? ## Buprenorphine tends to block the effect of other opiates in most people that take it, so I don't think you will find many people that have had as good of an experience as you. I get sick on the hydromorphone made by Mallinckrodt. Can anyone recommend a different and better manufacturer? ## Any except Arobindo brands. I have received Mallinckrodt Adderall that were so weak I had to double the dose to get it to work. And I usually take half the recommended dose of other brands. Aurobindo is the only manufacturer that I have found that’s worse than Mallinckrodt. Something in those meds makes me physically ill. ## All generic meds have fillers. That’s probably the reason you get “sick”. You should try taking your med with a meal, A small meal would suffice. ## Nausea, and dizziness can be side effects of narcotic analgesics, such as Hydromorphone, so there is also a chance that it just isn't the right medication for you. I have been on hydrocodone for years. Never really helped with my pain. I injured my back several years ago. I just recently was prescribed hydromorphone 4 mg for chronic pain. Just wanted to know if anyone has experience with it. And what can I expect as far as side effects. Any comments would be appreciated. ## The FDA and NIH lists its typical side effects to being similar to those of other opiates, such as the Hydrocodone, so they may include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, depression, and constipation. Are you on any other medications? Generally, when they gave it to me in the hospital, I experienced a lot of vomiting. ## I am curious as to how long it takes a 6mg hydromorphone (time-release) to start working? I am just starting to take it. ## Omg! I was put on that after c...

who knows what pharmacy has generic dilaudid in stock in spring hill Fl. 34606?! ## In order to find out which pharmacy has this medication in stock, you'd probably have to go in person to each pharmacy that you intend on having it filled at and ask them in person. Reason being is that most pharmacists will be reluctant to tell a complete stranger over the phone if they have one of the most potent narcotic pain relievers in stock. If you are having trouble filling a script, I have heard that others are trying Walgreens Mail Order services with better success. Is there anyone else in Florida who can suggest what has or hasn't worked for you, in so far as filling your prescription? ## I was having a big problem getting my scripts filled for different scheduled drugs over the years...

Small white pill with a number 2 on one side and M on the other ## Physician's Total Care lists a tablet matching this description as containing 2mgs of Hydromorphone, which is a potent narcotic analgesic. NDC code: 54868-3165 The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such dizziness, headache, constipation, dry mouth, and nausea. I have a small round peach pill with 2 on one side and TV on the other. I was told it was hydromorphone but can't find any reference to this pill anywhere. I'm in Canada. ## I haven't found an exact match to your pill, but I believe I've identified the manufacturer as Teva Pharmaceuticals. They seem to have a number of different pills with the "TV" imprint followed by a set of numbers. It looks like another user here on the site was also trying to identify this same pill, but with the number 4 instead of 2. WHITE ON TOP AND GRAY ON BOTTOM WIITH ONE SINGLE RED DOT ON THE WHITE PORTION ## HI, Katie! I've tried looking for something that matches this, but have had no luck. If there are no markings on it, it is most likely something that's available over the counter, since all manufactured prescription tablets are required to have markings to enable their identification. Where did you find it? Some products are regional, so knowing the general location may help narrow it down. Does anyone else recognize this? ## Hydromorphone. There are also larger ones with a white dot (instead of red), that contain a higher dose.
