Jh, if you really want to help... please read what I posted and join our group. It is number 82 on here and to long for me to repost it. Some people say they want to help, to 'do this & that' but that's all I see them doing, is talking. Please do not think I am talking about you now as I am not. The, Don't Punish Pain Rally group is all about helping & fighting this battle to win. Read what I posted & see for yourself. This goes for everyone that is wanting to help, win the battle. Take care ~

Re: Bella (# 102) Expand Referenced Message

Just to be clear I didn’t start it either. I went back to the very first post & the only mention of it were Posts #9, 14, 67 & 78. As a matter of fact, I never said a bad thing except to Post 78 to EMPTYBOTTLEADDOCTION who thinks we all are squandering around looking for meds. This now ends. I didn’t say & neither did you.

As all the pain medicines been around for years and tested (as they should be), which takes years. Yet they want to take them off the market, not to mention putting a lot less medicine in them just to make us disabled. Seniors suffer and they put us in the same category as these young kids that choose to just get high off them.

All that are trying to take away our little quality of life we have left need to look up the definition of addict vs dependent. Dependent dosen't mean getting high or even taking away our pain, only to make it a little more bearable for us disabled and seniors to survive another day for some quality of life to enjoy our grandchildren.

I think we need to dig into the dirt of every politician and find out their history. I'll bet we would have a hay day with that and change a lot of their minds. I wanted to get a petition started but didn't know exactly how. I'm behind you 100% and I can get a lot more. They're just hoping we die off. What better way to do it which i can go into more depth about that too.

I am so ready to do something about this!!

Re: Mare (# 101) Expand Referenced Message

Please STOP directing the junkie overdose statement to me. I DID NOT START IT. Enough. YOU started it. I stand up for the addicted. Chronic pain in an addict and in a person who actually needs them as well. If you have not seen an addict in pain, DONT COMMENT. I know what the topic is but YOU were the one who should look to what you say. YOU need stay on topic here not I.

Re: Mare (# 100) Expand Referenced Message

BTW, you should look at the name of this blog. It’s about signing a petition for people who have chronic pain that need their medications. Not about junkies or overdosing. Maybe you should start a blog about the issues you have. I’m sorry you took my statement the wrong way. It was in response to those that can’t get their meds for chronic pain.

Bella, I don't think I said anything about the bad statement made on " let the junkies overdose "...I'm just trying to clear this statement up. I would think anyone reading the ( conversation starter ) of this group chat. What appears to me is seems nobody likes that statement either..it bad. No one asked to end up being a junkie, or overdosed. Maybe WE all should continue on to keep fighting for what we want and stop using hurtful words

Re: Laurel (# 97) Expand Referenced Message

I work in Pain Management and am also a pain medication user for Crohns Disease, my doctor along with my recommendations have put me on Buprenorphine which is 100 times more potent than Morphine, and even though the FDA hasn’t approved Buprenorphine for pain control my doctor does give it to me for that specific reason. I try to let my patients decide which pain medications are right for them, and by talking and educating them on the benefits and risks they will be facing while taking opiate pain medications I usually have no problems with The DEA or FDA.

My Doctor reduced my Norco script. She basically did it because of the crack down on opioids. I have never been prescribed more than 2-10mg er day.My medical issues are so severe, I have been put on disability. I still work approximately 15 hours per week. My pain levels have turned my life upside down. I maintained with 2. It gave me about 5 hours of relief, but I cry a lot from pain. People who suffer with pain should not have to go through this. In 3 years, I never asked my doctor for more medicine. I just accepted what she gave me and appreciated the relief for a time being. I also need to add I have many allergies to medicine. My heart almost exploded from tramadol. I am allergic to gabapetin, neurontin, lyrica, and cymbalta. I’m just one of those people who is extremely sensitive to medicine. In my own personal opinion, I never abused medicine...so why with the one thing that could give me relief for a time being do I need to be punished and have it taken away? It’s very frustrating! Was I dependent on those two pills per day? I would say yes, but at my pain levels, I could easily have been a person to have wanted more, but I’m strong in that aspect. Relieve pain...yes...be an addict...no. There are many of us who need pain relief, but we know our limits. The problem lies in the people who go beyond their limits or for people who only wish to get high. I can sincerely tell you that over time, that so called euphoria goes away and goes away quick, but it still does the job, or takes the edge off of pain. They have punished the wrong people here. There are many people out there just like me...even in worse shape...and they have made their life a living Hell. It’s not fair. They need to re-evaluate this whole situation.

Re: Mare (# 95) Expand Referenced Message

Why not mention me? There is talk about addiction because someone on here brought up “ let the junkies overdose.” And I don’t like what she said. For me that is someone saying this who is young and probably is addicted themselves. Not all in here are older people who actually have chronic pain. Address when needed don’t pretend it’s not me. Pay attention to the boards and you will see the reasons why.

Re: Charlene (# 91) Expand Referenced Message

I don’t know why everyone is talking about addiction on this blog. This blog is for chronic pain. We go to the doctors on a regular basis. My pain Dr also had a psychologist in his office & I took a class for about a year. It was about how you manage your pain & how medication should be used. The one thing he said is that we go through cycles where the pain would flare up then may go down. The important thing he said was chasing the pain will lead into taking more in the long run. Rather than taking the meds 3 or 4 times a day so you keep your pain relief at the same level. By not taking them until your in a lot of pain, you will need to take more than you would have if you had taken them every 3, 4 or 6 hours as directed. The whole basis of treating chronic pain is to be at the same level at all times. Sure, you may have worse days but for the majority of the time, it keeps you medicated throughout the day. Years ago, oral meds were not helping me. So my doctor & neurologist felt it was better to have a pain pump implanted where the medicine gets delivered on a constant basis. I go back every 1 1/2 to 2 months where they digitally monitors the pump. If I still find myself in more pain, he can adjusted the amount that gets delivered or may consider changing what meds are put in. He then gives me a printout of what he gives me & the amount that goes through the tube. My pump is implanted at my lower left abdomen with a line the runs up to the T10 in my spine. He also gives me Soma for the bad days. You may want to ask about that. Medtronic is the company that makes the pump. Ever since, I no longer worry about if I took my meds or possibly taking too much. The pump would need to be replaced every 7 years so there is no possibility of breaking down. Also, pills effects the liver where the pump doesn’t. I will get breakthrough pain & thats when I would take the Soma.

Just wanted to give you another option. No one in the pharmacy or anyone will look at you like an addict. (Which is ridiculous anyway). Only you knows what you are feeling. I hope this helps you. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Good luck!

Re: Tara (# 9) Expand Referenced Message

So many addicted kids and I’m talking under 30 who are just kids to me are becoming addicts. My nephew started by having wisdom teeth pulled and got 3 refills of Vicodin at age 19. Another I know was on anti depressants started at 15 but they made her worse she then went to drugs. They both passed away within 3 years. NEVER EVER would I call these kids a junkie. The broken system who doesn’t give a rats a** about them is a huge problem. Stop blaming the addicts! We all experimented in one way or another in our youth. Some if not most kids do it a few times then get stuck in that bubble they cannot get out of! They truly want help except they are frowned upon as you say “ let the junkies overdose.” So ignorant! This upsets me to the max because your uneducated about this problem. I am a grandmother and so my experimenting in the 70’s was very different from today. I also take pain meds for a terrible diagnosis and just fought again with my primary for half the amount per month. What these doctors are afraid of is malpractice. Money. Most doctors won’t give you anything then the special pain doctors treat you as if they own you. Awful and I understand everyone here! We are all or most adults some seniors! You’d think by then you wouldn’t have a problem! Chronic pain is what we have and they don’t! Doctors do not understand pain just a bad name for themselves. Anyway sorry to get off topic and I see I have a message from my doctor I guarantee she cuts it down and for what. They have our definitive diagnosis yet still we have to fight. Now I need the rant to tell you my nephew was never in trouble, an A student. Very sad for us he was a handsome nerd. Please never say that again I cry each time it is said. I pray you all find peace and just live your lives like we all want to without any stress from these doctors for CS.

I am almost 86 years old and someone (everyone) informed me around October or November that my Vicodin brand isn't available any longer. At first, they made me hunt for them for about 3 months then each pharmacy I went to would tell me they couldn’t get it. This from my Rite aid that I had been a customer for many many years! My doctor had no problems with me, I was still on the same dosage that I started on about two and a half years before. I always had a legitimate script from my doctor that they were refusing! I was on 2 pills 4 times a day and they stopped me cold, I had been taken off of the generic long ago because of allergic reactions. My Dr gave me a month's supply of these but just looking at them I was reluctant to take them, so I decided to try to get off them completely. I didn’t even tell my doctor. I didn’t really know how to taper off without going into withdrawal, but did the best I could. I tried at first to go too fast and kept getting pretty sick. I went through hell it took about 3 months I think, but I didn’t keep track. I kept getting sick and didn’t stop until I succeeded. I have been off all opioids since about 1/28th and I am now in the worse pain of my life! I have Fibromyalgia, hashimoto’s thyroiditis, osteoarthritis, bursitis, tendinitis, and many other painful diseases! I have been trying CBD but it hasn’t started helping too much yet. I never want to be a slave to pharmaceuticals again. I am on Oxygen for COPD also and because of a fall down 4 or 5 stairs, Bumping on my right hip on every stair, I now have my right leg 1 1/4” shorter than my left, which makes it very painful to try to walk. I have to have my walker, but to go upstairs, I have to hold the banister with my left hand and my cane with my right hand. If I ever dropped my cane, I wouldn’t be able to get downstairs!

My life is terrible, I don‘t have anyone in my everyday life! I really need something more for my pain, but natural! I want to get LDN but my Dr won’t help me with that because he doesn’t know enough, even though I brought him info about a year ago so he could research it! Even though I’m eligible, he doesn’t believe in medical marijuana, which he knows I wouldn’t smoke because of my chronic lung disease. He says His hospital doesn’t allow it?? Any ideas about natural remedies for me anyone? See the difference with us Chronic pain sufferers and the Drug Addicts is when we get off the opioids, we are in worse pain than when we started, but if they go in for recovery, they come out pretty brand new. They may still have cravings, I don’t know, but I know I don’t!

Re: Charlene (# 91) Expand Referenced Message

I’m so sorry you are having difficulties getting off that medicine. It took me a while to get off the oxy’s or MS Contin. I did reduced mine very slowly until I only take a muscle relaxer.

Have you tried reducing the amount slowly? I would even ask the doctor if there is something else you can take. But if you are in pain when you stop, what will you do then? Stopping may not be a option but reducing may help as long as you are still getting relief. Don’t let pressure from anyone dictate what helps your pain. I am speaking about pain that takes over the simplest of things like just getting up off the couch or doing simple chores. Anyway, good luck with whatever you choose to do. It’s your life. You are the best judge of your pain.

Re: Mare (# 87) Expand Referenced Message

Yes, mare... thank you for clarifying my statement. Never looked at it like this and has me thinking I call myself addicted but could I myself only been dependent this whole time?? If so when I went for help they put me on a much stronger medication Buprenorphine and now I cannot get off. I have tried on my own several times and finally went for help using a doctor and still couldn't do it..now maybe it's my age and someone younger could do it idk..and as much as buprenorphine treatment I guess saved me, I call it a devil's pill and would suggest nobody take it unless absolutely necessary

Re: Bella (# 86) Expand Referenced Message

So sorry. I have to find my post and correct it. I had to jump in to say I'm sorry because I don't think I accused you of saying something like that at all. I believe I was thanking you for saying what I thought was a bad thing to say to whom ever said this in the beginning. You stood up and said how wrong it is to say l" let the junkies overdose "". So please reread I'm trying to figure out how I got this twisted
