Soma Overview

Carisoprodol, marketed under the brand name Soma among others, is a prescription drug marketed since 1959. It is a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant of the carbamate class and produces all the effects associated with barbiturates.[citation needed] It is a prodrug[2] and is both structurally and pharmacologically related to meprobamate. The major metabolic pathway of carisoprodol involves its conversion to meprobamate.[3] In the United St...

Is Soma a narcotic muscle relaxer

my doctor has told me that that soma is a narcotic and she does not want to prescribe it to me any more. I suffer from chronic back pain as well as muscle spasms. I have tried other muscle relaxers as well as anti inflamatories and none of then do not work. Soma is the only one I have found to work for me without making me sleepy. Any information you can give me i would really appreciate. Thank you, Dana ## No, it is not a narcotic. Soma contains the active ingredient Carisoprodol, but it has been known to be habit forming and to be abused, by some people. However, what you have to remember is that prescribing it is entirely up to your doctor, she is not obligated to do so. You also have the option of finding a different doctor, for any reason you choose. Are there any other questions? ...

Muscle Relaxers comparable to Soma?

My insurance company stopped filling my prescription of Soma because it is not in their health care plan formula. What are the top five that work as well as Soma (Carisoprodol)? ## Then Stan you reach in your pocket and pull out the $4 it costs for Soma. I pay $2. The insurance company doesn't dictate what medicines you can take, only which ones they might not pay for? ## Unfortunately, there is really no top options list that anyone can give you, there are no others that are as strong as Soma, at this time, and which other one might help can vary from person to person. If you can't afford to pay for it out of pocket, as Eddy suggested, you might want to consult your doctor about which one they think would be best for you to try. Personally, I had great results with Skelaxin, wh...

how do i get my dr to prescribe me muscle relaxers

I need help in getting prescribed muscle relaxers. I dont wanna seem like a DRUG ADDICT... BECAUSE I'M NOT!! But, how do i get my dr to give me what i need???.. I've been in pain for quite some time and my body just isnt the same as it used to be.... I dont want to list all the drugs that i HAVE BEEN taking... but, i just need something (on going) so that, i can get back to my normal life. Any ideas??? Almost anything you do, if you suffer chronic pain, is viewed as drug seeking behavior. Going to multiple doctors in an attempt to get help? Yeah, you're a drug seeker. Asking for a higher dose? Drug seeker. Hoarding? Drug seeker. Questions or complaints about random drug panel policies? Drug seeker. Past history of recreational drug use? You're a drug seeker. ## It honest...

Just received my refill of soma 350mg but they look different than the ones I am used to getting from the same pharmacy. No read out was put in the bag. The white round pill had a SG 109 on one side & blank on the other side. Anybody ever heard of these before? Because, since there was no print out of the new different medication I was a little worried, "what if the pharmacist made a little error in mine & somebody else's medications". Thanks for any feedback. ## Errors are made every day but these pills have been identified as Soma ## That is correct, they are manufactured by ScieGen Pharmaceuticals and they list them as containing 350mgs of Carisoprodol, which is a generic for Soma. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, hea...

Soma V 2410 Pill Information

soma v 2410 ## Found a match it's Carisoprodol 350 mg, which is a centrally-acting skeletal muscle relaxant whose active metabolite is meprobamate. To learn more click on the link below... Do you have any more questions or information to add? Please post back if you do. ## I have a pill that I believe is SOMA. It says 5513 on one side and DAN on the other. Can anyone confirm that this is Soma and what dose is it? ## Yes, it is Soma and the makers are Watson. It's a good and genuine Soma to have. :) ## Hey Barbara. Please help me find out which pharmacies carry V 2410 by Watson. All I get here is cheap brands that don't help any. I have neck spasms regularly due to two shoulder surgeries. Pharmacies here only prescribe cheap generics. Thank you for your kindness. Call me Uncl...

Soma (carisoprodol) in Oklahoma

My GP recently stopped prescribing me Soma after many years of successful treatment with no other changes in medications. I go to a pain specialist for long term injury and they do not prescribe soma. I've heard that the best bet for getting back to my previous treatment plan may be to find a new GP who would prescribe soma. Does anyone have any idea of how to find this out about the specific doctors or know of any in the Tulsa, OK area who do? Please let me know, I cannot take all of the other muscle relaxants I've been prescribed to try. ## Soma is and does many things but rest assured it does not provide "successful treatment" of any part of the body. That is why it is being slowly phased out ## I'm looking for a doctor who prescribes soma in Tulsa, OK. I have bee...

2410 v soma difference from dan 350

How are they different, Dan one side other side 350, pill found one side blank other side 2410 with v? ## Different in what way? They are a fine generic substitution! ## Hello, Roxie! How are you? They are the same medication, if I'm understanding you correctly (you meant the tablet with the DAN 5513 on it?), they've just been manufactured by different companies, which is very common with generics. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Soma 350 by Watson feels not the Same as other plank side over is 2410 with v, they are real thick compared to my Dans, 350 ? ## This generic equivalent can be up to 20% weaker, however they can also be 20% stronger as well! ## The ones wit...

Soma (carisoprodol): Cor 103 vs Dan 5513

Which soma (carisoprodol) generic is best? I'm reading that the 'cor 103' makes you feel like you took a narcotic but isn't. Sounds nice as I do not like them either but the relief they provided. I have been on dans for years but seeing this makes me want to give this generic a try. Any feedback? Watson (Actavis - Mayne pharma) - dan 5513 Sandoz - cor 103 Sun - 446 Qualitest - V Med Pharma - MP Aurobindo ## There is no way to suggest any given best one for any certain person, you really just have to try them and see what works best for you, since we are all different. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and drowsiness. Personally, I haven't tried this medication. Can anyone that has tried it chime in? T...
