Doctors In Louisiana That Prescribe Methadone For Chronic Pain (Page 17) (Top voted first)

I have been taking 120 mg of methadone for approximately 5 years. My husbands job transferred us from Florida to Louisiana where I found a pretty good pain doc. He is now running scared and wants to take me off of methadone. Methadone has given me a good quality of life; I am able to work and be a productive member of society. My doctor is unwilling or unable to assist me in finding a new doctor who will continue my meds. Oh yeah, I have been the route of blocks and injections and gotten little if any relief. I'm tired of being branded a drug seeker-I have years of medical records that back up my claims and verify the dosages that I've been on-what drug seekers have this kind of back up? I am looking for a Louisiana doctor, but am willing to travel (within reason of course). Please help!!

Yes get Your records transferred to a methadone clinic and you’d probably have to go once a week would be a clean track record you don’t want to end up dying in DTs Thany Frank

Hi Sara. Here is the number for Dr Joseph Parker: 870-777-8733. He is in Texarkana, Arkansas. He was my dr before I moved from Bossier City, Louisiana. I also am on methadone. I have fibromyalgia, Reynaud's disease in both hands and feet, and they believe I have the beginning of multiple sclerosis! You don’t know pain until you have experienced what I have! I thought I touched a dirty gas pump of some sort because I literally woke up. Total body aches, pain, and different colored fingers and toes!! I have lesions in my brain however at this time all they can say is fibromyalgia and Reynaud's! Which means other autoimmune diseases will be added on if life continues…. ?? This pain could make anyone suicidal. Let alone people like you can make people in pain homicidal.

Judgemental often? I have diabetes, type 1, peripheral neuropathy as well as several other diseases. I live in pain even when taking my meds. But I don't judge anyone by the meds that work for their pain. Get some education before you play doctor.

please tell me what Dr. you see in Breaux Bridge, I live in lafayette and am so sick of the methadone clinic, I also do well with a lower dose and the clinic doesn't like that. I am looking for a dr. who will write it out right without all the politics

Suboxone takes at least a month and half to detox off of... I know :( I'm not trying yip.be rude. I'm going through the sub detox right now and damn does it hurt :(

Louisiana Medicaid (BayouHealth) will not pay for Pain Management. Only if you have Medicare and Medicaid, not just Medicaid.

You'll never find a lawyer to file that suit. Now, if they had rxed you the methadone and you had died, then your family could sue. But, with the political climate, as long as you're alive, that's all that counts. Maybe when all the nursing homes in Louisiana start filling up with the disabled who aren't being treated for their pain, maybe then someone will sue the state on their behalf, but I seriously doubt it will be done even then.

If u look at me and u will know that I need methadone. There nothing wrong with you and u don't need it. I was born that way with half of my body. I have been pain for many year but at Louisiana is the one of Most disgust doctor who don't have a pain. That doctor thought that all over the world has a same pain as doctor. Dr just a stupid as black heart. In California doctor do really care. I will die without methadone. I can sue.

Hello. I have been taken off methadone after being on it for over 7 years which I had most relief compared to any other tried Meds. My doc said after Jan 2014 no doc can give methadone EXcept M. Clinics. Do u know anything about this info? If not + ya doc does write methadone can I PLEASE have his/her. info? I live south of Lafayette, La. I suffer from anxiety and ADHD and I live in N Alabama and I am in desperate need of a dr as mine just retired 2 months ago and I am struggling.. Does anyboday have any advice or maybe a dr I could get an appointment with or a Phychiatrist......Thanks

Hi, it is so sad to see so many of us suffering needlessly due to ignorance! PLEASE HELP, ANYONE WHO KNOWS OF A PAIN MANAGEMENT DOCTOR IN SHREVEPORT/BOSSIER CITY AREA (or withing a couple of hours) who will help as I have moved here from California, took SIXTEEN doctors and about 8 years to finally find a medication regime that helps my extreme chronic pain from two serious car accidents and several bad slip and falls. Quick list: Extreme FMS, herniated disks, spinal cysts, stenosis, spondylosis, arthritis, osteoporosis, nerve impingement, neuritis/neuropathy, massive inflammation throughout, for about 12 years have been taking methadone 10 mg, norco for breakthrough, soma for muscle spasm, neurontin for nerve pain. Have not increased doses, just trying to have some quality of life, without meds literally cannot move. Literally feels like my skin and spine are on fire and someone is stabbing my neck, back in several places with a hot searing poker. NEED HELP ASAP as I am going to run out very soon and so far no luck and really don't need withdrawals on top of the rest of my problems, way too numerous to list here. I do get shots when I can afford them but not only do they not really work but I have no insurance and am cash pay and disabled/unable to work so cannot afford them very often.

You need to remember that if you are treated at a Methadone Clinic, you are classified as a Substance Abuser. That may make it impossible to get treated for your pain. In other words you will have to continue to go to a Methadone Clinic.

There is no way of knowing what a dr will prescribe you until you see them. It may take several visits before they are even willing to discuss Methadone, if then. It might help if you have your medical records from your previous dr.

There are no new laws in Louisiana that say only Pain Managment Drs can prescribe Methadone. It may be very difficult finding one who isn't pain managment to prescribe it. But that is not the same as a law changing. The person that told you this lied to you.

I HAVE NEVER HAD METHADONE BUT MY PRIMARY SAID IT MAY BE WHAT I HAVE TO GO TO SENSE NO ONE CAN GET ME MY PAIN MED IM ON IN TIMLEY MANER , MAKES ME MAD TO BE TREATED LIKE A DRUG ADDICT OR CRIMINAL WHEN FOR TWENTY PLUS YEARS I HAVE BEEN GIVEN EV ERY PAIN MED THERE IS JUST ABOUT.IS IT TRUE ON THAT YOU HAVE TO GO IN EVERY DAY TO GET ME.
