Keikee, I agree with everything you said. I don't know of any Dr prescribing, plus IF they are, where are they getting it filled at?? BTW in response to your post to me a day or 2 ago, I am still stuck with the same rude Dr. I don't think there is anyone willing to prescribe the dosages we were all on at one time. However on a positive note I have been talking on the phone and by email to a lady who works on the special unit of Mike DeWines office, she contacted me because I sent him an email, she actually wanted to hear my story and suggestions. They are trying to look for solutions to us chronic pain ppl. I cannot believe someone actually heard me and contacted me. I will keep you updated, I speak with her quite frequently.

Hello I'm looking for a pain management Doctor for my father that will actually help decrease his pain and write narcotics. He has recently suffered a heart attack and bypass x 5. He has rhumatoid arthritis bad and is suffering in severe pain daily, unable to sleep work etc. It would be a dream if anyone knows a great Doctor who can help with his pain and control the arthritis flare ups. He said even the wind blowing on him is painful. I'm worried about the effects and stress the pain is having on his heart. Please if anyone knows anyone in Cleveland please let me know.

Miriena, your dad's Rheumatologist should be willing to either write for his pain meds or refer him to a pain management specialist in town. I'd be very surprised to hear of a Rheumatologist not helping take care of a patient with the type of pain you describe your dad as having. If the Dr doesn't appear to want to help, its time to find a new Dr. I understand your dad recently had heart surgery and am assuming chest pain is not part of his symptoms.

Interested in knowing the dr you had. My doctor randomly decided to take me off my percs. I have fibromyalgia chronic migraine arthritis in my back as well as degenerative disk disease and a bulging disk. I literally can't stand for longer than five minutes. My life has gone to crap.

If i pass because i could not get my 4 pills a day for 14 years that took me from 0-quality of life to 10, never abused or got hooked, i will leave the names of all politicians who contributed to my s*** existence. nobody cares if we die. they want population control. you can get drugs illegally or just stoke out from pain, 8% of legitimate 60-80 year olds who were cut off committed suicide from a chronic pain clinic. let people live comfortably. anybody can od, legal or illegal, everybody knows their body. chronic pain destroys your life. i never increased in 15 years, i decreased. i will not take blood pressure bulls***. my blood pressure is 108/71 when i have my medication. stop worrying about anti depressants and treat legitimate people who are articulate and know their body, manage without fentanyl, or leaking pain pumps. i know a person who will kill herself, she has certain politicians on a letter & on her death shirt, poor woman, she works out with 3 pillls a day, now shes bedridden. thanks DEWINE, KASICH, & HUSTED, YOU are killing people, not saving them. you go an hour with severe pain, see how it feels. then you will change your tune, shots are s*** & do nothing but paralyze 4% - fusions limit motion, nerve oblation is a joke - illicit drugs, you politicians drive this 74 yr old to it. she is princeton educated. this is a communist country. worry about manson, pedaphiles and leave us to make our choices. has nobody figured the war on drugs is a waste. what cant you get?

Coco,
How ironic! I just wrote a letter on Rob Portman's government page. I wrote it under the heading, share your story of addiction. Only I wrote about the horror of having medication taken away from legitimate, compliant, law abiding, tax paying chronic pain sufferers. I plan to touch base with all my state officials before midnight tonight. I wish you would too, Coco.

I've had spinal cirrhosis. I remember wearing a whale cartridge belt in fifth grade to keep my back from hurting me. I've been taking pain pills my whole life. I'm 55 now. I was on pain management for ten years and maybe more with never any problems with U/A's or anything. one day I was found with phenobarbital in my U/A after bringing all my pills to my doctors and finally figured out my wife gave me a pill one day when I had a headache and it was a migraine prescription pill. i have no idea. I'm also 55 years old. my pill count before I was 52 was 4 Percocet tens a day and two Oxycontin a day. I forget even the milligrams on them. I also took 4 tramadol a day. of course im addicted to them. i've been forced to take them when drs claimed to damn be miracles. thereafter 30 years plus I've been taking medicines from Darvocet to Oxycontin to Vicodin to Percocet. I have taken them all, you name it. immune to practically all of it. I take care of my wife, my house, i have custody my two and a half year old granddaughter, and I never needed that medicine to feel high. I needed that medicine to get out of bed and go work 10-12 hours at a mill. I have all my medical charts on my phone. I would be more than happy to send you all facts of my back neck and body. I understand the government has been taking away the privacy between doctors and their patients. I don't even know how they got to do that. I used to be able to tell my doctor anything. now everybody's afraid to tell you all anything you may think like every other doctor that I've really tried did. I'm just a pill seeker but let me tell you I'm a family man. I love my wife. I love my granddaughter. I need to work. I don't think it was fair I was kicked out of pain management for such minor mistakes and the worst part of all of this was I was kicked off immediately with over 30 years of pain medicine use. even the six years I spent in the Marine Corps I was medicated there also. left with no treatment, nothing. no medical withdrawal. no help. just left to pain and suffer it out. I have good insurance, have a good job. I don't like the government telling my doctor and me how I can live and work in peace and comfort. my wife and my family feel the same. I had energy. I drive. I had been thrilled to go out now I'm usually way too sore to enjoy any of my life. I know this may not concern you but it surely felt good for somebody to maybe be listening to me. I appreciate it. 55 year old man goes to work everyday, left his wife for 30 years, has a son who gave me my beautiful granddaughter, not a junkie.

Mark, I just saw your post and can totally 100% relate! I'm 56, a grandmother to 3. I WAS getting relatively good pain control from 1995-2013-14. THEN the Dr I was seeing in Boardman was fired or bought out or something. After that I was seen by a Dr in Akron. One day I went to my appt and was handed a copy of the letter with the CDC/FDA/DEA new "guidelines". The very Dr who'd been prescribing my meds and treating me like an old friend looked at me and said, "you're a drug addict.". I laughed but he wasn't laughing. He told me that starting the next month my meds would be cut in half and the month after that he'd change them to oxycontin followed by a quick tapering of that. I was hysterical. He had the nerve to tell me I couldn't leave his office until I composed myself because he didn't want my husband (who was waiting for me) to think he'd "done something" to me. I couldn't even speak. I'd never failed a drug panel, always compliant. The nurses would tell me how great a patient I was.......since then it's been a nightmare.

Julie, That's a relatively tame dose of pain medication. Your pcp can and should refer you to a pain management specialist. Ask him to do that. I'm not a medical expert but from experience, I recommend one associated with a hospital based clinic. St Elizabeth has one. Good luck to you. Don't let your dr get away with leaving you to fend for yourself.

Pain patch I meant - not paycheck. Stupid phones. Hi Karen, I live in Ne Ohio and am in need of a pain management Dr. I have RSD, both sciatic nerves are pinches, 5 herniated & bulging disc. Had to get a hysterectomy at 34 because of the pain. I only get 50mg of oxycodone a day and have been on the same dose for 10 yrs, so needless to say I'm tolerant to my medicine. It's been suggested that I get a morphine pump installed. My youngest daughter is 13 & I want to wait until she graduates from high school at least before I entertain that. I am not asking for anything crazy, just to up my medicine some or get a patch with it. Mmj is legal now in Ohio but being on disability (which I got approved for in 28 days because of my disease and mental illness that came with it) I'm afraid to do edibles because I'll fail a drug panel. Plus no Dr's. I know of are even giving affidavits that you qualify for it. My injury happened at work, obwc settled my claim & they also deemed me disabled, so I'm 100% disabled by government and state. I'm just tired of living in constant pain, not being the mom I know I can be or the wife I once was. If you know of any Drs that actually care about trying to make patients comfortable I'd appreciate any info. I have been seeing Dr Stanton-Hicks in Cleveland but he wants the scs which I have heard horror stories about. I use a tens unit multiple times daily on the highest setting & don't feel it. He also mentioned the pump. I'd rather find a medicine regimen that helps some than be all doped up & feel like a worse human being. I get sooo mad that we are getting punished because of the people who just wanted to feel high & now take illicit drugs, because it is messing with normal people's lives. I've lost friends and family to opiates but it's hard to have sympathy anymore. Being on Medicare and having to pay soo much to even see a Dr is crazy. Thank you for reading my rant.
