Opana actually contains the active ingredient Oxymorphone and, on a precise test, it should be detected as a different substance than Morphine.

There are tests that can show exactly what you have taken, so it really depends on the test.

Opana is NOT hydromorphone. Opana is Oxymorphone. Dilaudid is hydromorphone. Iknow this for a 100% fact because I take both Opana (oxymorphone) and dilaudid (hydromorphone) get your facts straight before u start trying to give advice!

I was precribed opana 10 mg, because I was too drowsy and didn't think i needed such a strong medication, the dr. changed my medication back to what it was..which is morpine sulf 30 mg er 3x daily and morphine sulf 15 mg 4x daily for breakthru pain..because of something I did, my pain got so much worse, I thought the opana would work better than the morphine..I don't know if I was supposed to throw out the opana, in any case, I took it, because of the pain getting worse..I am wondering, if the opana will show up in a urine test, 2 weeks after I have taken it..or do morphine and opana show up as the same thing..or if because I was PRESCRIBED the opana, if the pain management clinic will have a problem with this..thank you

Just a quick "For the Record Fact" so some people aren't confused about which drug is which. The generic form of Opana is actually called "OxyMorphone" not "HydroMorphone". "HydroMorphone" is actually the generic name for "Dilaudid". ----

I also just got confirmation from Quest Diagnostics & LabCorp(2-biggest blood & urine testing companies in Florida) that both Opana (oxymorphone) & OxyContin show up under the GENERAL opiates report & separate tests are done on a standard pain management 13 drug test for oxymorphone (opana) & OxyContin & opana (oxymorphone) shows up as the abbreviation OXY & OxyContin shows up as OXYC ONthe same exact 13-drug PMGT test @ the bottom.
I have my report & several other patients they accidentally put in my file & both OXY & OXYC are @ the bottom. Mine says OXY. I tried to explain this to dr. But she's stubborn. All of the patients are on OPANA. Really stubborn dr.
