Morphine Overview

Morphine (INN)/mrfin/), sold under many trade names, is a pain medication of the opiate type. It acts directly on the central nervous system (CNS) to decrease the feeling of pain. It can be used for both acute pain and chronic pain. Morphine is also frequently used for pain from myocardial infarction and during labour. It can be given by mouth, into a muscle, under the skin, intravenously, into the space around the spinal cord, or rectally.[2] Maximum effect is around 20 min when given intrav...

Morphine Sulfate - generic for Avinza
26 Replies RSS
I was in an auto accident 8/21/96 and ever since then I have been dealing with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD). For the last 11 yrs I have been on Avinza 270 mg (2 120mg, 1 30mg once a day) by King Pharmaceutical and now my ins company is insisting that a generic is made and sold in the US by Acatavis Elizabeth. I cannot see anything current that it has been released. There is a legal suit between King and Acatavis because it states a generic cannot be released until 11/2017. Generics do not work for me and right now I'm fighting it, but would like to know if it is true about Avinza being made and sold in the US by Actavis. Please let me know if you're able to, I would surely appreciate it. Thank you! ## Hello, Lorraine! How are you? The databases are showing that a generic f...

New pain medication laws dictating to doctors that they cannot prescribe anything equivalent 120 mg of morphine or higher a day per patient
13 Replies RSS
I was told Friday by my Pain Management Doctor at my monthly appointment that the DEA was implementing a new law dictating to doctors on how much pain medication they could prescribe per patient per day. It could be equal to no more than 120 mg of Morphine per day per patient and they had to comply within 3 months for all of their patients. I am trying to find out as much information on this as possible. I don't know if my Pain Management Doctor is stating fact or if he is just running scared and if he is stating fact, I don't know if this is federal or state (Alabama) mandated. I spoke directly with the Southeastern division of the DEA in Atlanta this morning and they are not aware of any law of this nature coming into effect and I also contacted another pain clinic locally tha...

need a pain clinic in tn alabama ,doctor just closed was on 100 mg morphine 90 a month 180 roxicodone a month need doctor immediately close to tn Al border if anybody has a cash pay or insurance doctor 4000 patient going crazy please help ## Hello, Unfortunately, no one can really know ahead of time what a doctor is or is not willing to prescribe, as that is based on the doctor's discretion and not on someone else's previous appointment (especially since many doctor's are now worried about losing their licensing for prescribing too many narcotics). Some advice I can give you is to not specifically ask for any 'specific medication' when you see a new doctor. Just make sure to transfer or take a copy of all your medical records with you. Then, the best approach in my o...

Which Is Stronger 30 Mg Of Morphine Sulphate Er Or 10 Methadone
38 Replies RSS
I am in a confusing debate with ex husband which is stronger 30 mg of morphine sulfate E.R or 10 mg of methadone? ## Methadone is stronger than Morphine, just as an example, if you were taking the 30mgs of Morphine, the equivalent dosage of Methadone would only be 3mgs, so it's a roughly 1mg to 10mg ratio. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I was on Methadone tablets for 13 years with a NY pain mgmt doctor who worked alongside an Orthopedic surgeon who originally diagnosed my lumbar-sacral pain from DDD (L5/S1) and nerve damage in my legs, plus osteoarthritis in hips and spine. My Methadone dose began at 30mg/day, and at it's highest 10 yrs later, was on 150mg/day. I had gastric bypass surgery in 2009, and lost 130 lbs by 2010. My Methadone dosage was able to be brought ...

30mg morphine 2x daily for 45 days to suboxoneround orange p

On 30 mg 2 x daily for 45 days. Took last 30 at 7pm yesterday. Is one orange AN415 for 4 days going to help me withdraw and stop opiates all together. I dont want this addiction anymore? ## Hello, Ginger! How are you doing? You can't take Suboxone, until you are in full withdrawal. Otherwise, it can throw you into dangerous precipitated withdrawals that could include grand mal seizures. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. And it is doubtful that just 4 days of it is going to be enough to completely beat this. Have you consulted your doctor? Unless you've been abusing the Morphine, you should be able to just taper off of it after ...

How often can you take morphine 30mg per day. How many hours apart ## 1x evry 8 hours ## wife had terminal cancer, prescription :morphine sulf ir 30mg tab tab, mfg:ethex corp. direction on script take 1 to 3 tablets every four to six hours as needed ## Morphine should be taken in the exact way your doctor prescribed it to you. Everyone is different, and each person reacts differently to dosage and mg amount. If you did not recieve your prescription from an MD, I would watch out for overdose symtoms. If you start feeling: Drowsiness, pupils change in size, feeling confused, cold and clammy skin, weakened pulse, difficulty breathing, or fainting I would stop taking it right away. pain management clinic that accepts Medicaid in houston, tx area
6 Replies RSS
Doctors thar accept medicaid in houston, tx area that prescribe oxy and morphine ## Do they really accept Medicaid? ## Hello, Lisa! How are you? I'm sorry, but there is no listing of doctors according to what they will or will not prescribe that I can refer to for you. And due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, if you require such medications on a long-term, ongoing basis, you'll need to see a specialist. Do you currently have a PCP that may be able to refer you to someone? If so, that would most likely be the easiest way to find the help you need. Can anyone suggest a good doctor in that area? ## There are no new regulations that state you must see a Pain Management Dr for chronic pain. Although it may be very difficult to find a pcp who will treat a new p...

groggy morphine
1 Reply RSS
I am on 40mg of Opana and 15 mg ir morphine for 3 ruptured discs. . When I take the morphine it makes me tired. Is there an IR that will not make me groggy? ## Hello, Steven! How are you? Drowsiness is a possible side effect of all narcotics, it's really just a matter of trial an error to find one that works for you, without making you sleepy. Morphine did the same thing to me, when I was on it, I could barely ever stay awake. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Have you tried Oxycodone? It may work better for you.
