Tramadol Overview

Tramadol (marketed as Ultram, and as generics) is an opiate pain medication used to treat moderate to moderately severe pain.[1] When taken as an immediate-release oral formulation, the onset of pain relief usually occurs within about an hour.[5] It has two different mechanisms. First, it binds to the μ-opioid receptor. Second, it inhibits the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine.[6][7] Serious side effects may include seizures, increased risk of serotonin syndrome, decreased alertne...

can you take tramadol with a fentanyl patch on
15 Replies RSS
I have a client who wears fentanyl patch. Can she take tramadol while wearing this patch? ## Yes, there are many occasions when different pain medications are prescribed together to give better pain control or to get pain relief faster, while waiting for a time released medication, like the Fentanyl patch, to being working. She should be informed, however, that they both can cause CNS depression, so she has to watch for signs of severe problems, like lowered breath rate, lowered heart/pulse rate and low low blood pressure. It can also cause more side effects than usual, so she may experience worse dizziness, drowsiness, nausea and constipation. Also remember that any other medication and medical conditions must be taken under consideration when using medications, so make sure her doctor...

tramadol amneal vs mylan
30 Replies RSS
all our pharms here have switched to amneal.doesnt do a thing except give a headache. brand does make a differance.the mylan works great. ## Yes, there can be differences in generic medications. Once a medication is available to be made a generic, it is allowed to differ, in the active ingredient, from the name brand by as much as plus or minus 20%. The FDA considers this an acceptable therapeutic window. The problem that you can run into, of course, is that generics do not have to measure against each other, just against the name brand. This means that while one generic may be high quality and contain 100mgs of a given medication, another generic may only contain 80mgs and another could contain 120mgs. Not everyone is sensitive to such changes and most people don't even notice, how...

Has opiate use permanently ruined my enjoyment of alcohol?!
2 Replies RSS
Hi there, I have a strange question that i cant find the answer for. I took Tramadol/Zydol for around 7 months for back pain, ever since i stopped taking it i cannot get the effects of alcohol - e.g the buzz, euphoria. Please note it is NOT a tolerance issue. I can drink and drink until im sick and not feel anything. (it was just to evaluate how much i could drink/prove it wasn't tolerance) I have been in abstinence from Tramadol for about a year now. I'm really worried that I'm permanently damaged. Any help or ideas why this is happening? Thank you ## Hello, Blaine! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're having. It's hard to say, the use of medications, as well as time causes our bodies to change, so it may be due to the medications you took, or just a ...

where to get tramadol after Aug 14th?
35 Replies RSS
Since tramadol is becoming controlled in August, what are my options? I've always gotten it from web-based pharmacies due to not having insurance. please help!!! ## Tramadol is no longer able to be obtained online without a Rx in the USA. Other countries may offer their version of it but I'd be careful with that. Tramadol itself is a very inexpensive medication... if your Dr. writes you a Rx for it you'll find that is very inexpensive. ## Let me know if you find out anywhere else to order this. I dread running out of my tramadol...ohhhh mmyyyy ## If you really need it as bad as you say you do, I honestly think your best bet would be to go the legitimate route and see a good doctor who can prescribe this for you on a monthly basis. You can always save money on your script by ...

Increased libido on Tramadol
1 Reply RSS
I have severe back pain and I'm on 50mg of tramadol 4 times a day. Ever since I started to take these my libido has been increased drastically. Has anyone else noticed the same? ## Hello, Amber! How are you? I've not heard it mentioned, but it does make sense, in a way. All medications carry the risk of causing side effects, for instance along with being habit forming, the FDA lists those for Tramadol as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. Usually, it lowers most people's libido, but conversely there are always a few people who actually experience the opposite of any side effect, they may get diarrhea, very water mouth and an accelerated libido. Has anyone else that's taken this experienced this issue?

Is tramadol round white pill 319 quick release ## Hello, Big John! How are you? This tablet is manufactured by Zydus Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 50mgs of Tramadol in a regular release formulation. The FDA classifies this medication as an opioid analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

Tramadol and pseudoephedrine

Is there an interaction with Tramadol HCL 50 and Pseudoephedrine HCI 120mg? ...or worded another way... I took a Tramadol HCL 50, 3hours ago. Can I now take Pseudoephedrine HCI 120mg (Sudafed 12 Hour)? ## Hello, JD! How are you? The only issue that I found listed was that the Tramadol increases sedation, while the Pseudoephedrine decreases it, but it should be fine to take, as long as your doctor approves. As listed by the FDA you may experience side effects, such as nausea, headache, dizziness, nervousness, insomnia and anxiety. Is there anything else I can help with?

Tramadol HCL Safety And Potency Past Expiration Date
27 Replies RSS
I pulled a muscle in my lower back and am in a lot of pain but am unemployed at the moment and can't afford to see a doctor and fill a new prescription. I found an old bottle of Tramadol HCL 50 MG with an expiration date of 3/22/2007. It has been stored in a cool, dark, dry cabinet all of this time. Does Tramadol HCL become unsafe or lose its potency after its expiration date, especially this long after? ## Unsafe no, loss of potency yes! In the original factory sealed bottles that your pharmacy receives, most medications are only good for 3 years, once those are opened and they are placed in a bottle that exposed them to heat and light, they degrade faster and will lose potency. Learn more Tramadol details here. Are there any other comments or questions? ## Thanks for the reply Ver...

Refuse to prescribe
28 Replies RSS
I live in a very small town and the number of doctors here is limited. The number of good doctors is almost nonexistent. I'm finding that calling for an appointment as a new patient the office staff says right away, "We don't prescribe pain meds"! Also have heard "We don't take fibromyalgia patients"! This is said before I ever state what I need to be seen for. Assuming I did have pain, do I no longer have the right to have my pain relieved? I'm so offended by this. If you have chronic pain you are treated like a leper. Apparently it is automatically assumed you have a drug problem. Going to other towns is the same. No wonder people self medicate. Is this happening all over the country? ## Unfortunately yes, it is. Many people, all over the country, are h...
