Tramadol Overview

Tramadol (marketed as Ultram, and as generics) is an opioid pain medication which is used to treat moderate to moderately severe pain.[4] When taken as an immediate-release oral formulation, the onset of pain relief usually occurs within about an hour.[5] It has two different mechanisms. First, it binds to the μ-opioid receptor. Second, it inhibits the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine.[6][7] Serious side effects may include: seizures, increased risk of serotonin syndrome, decreas...

medix white capsule

I bought all white capsules in mexico pharmacy with word medix on it i want to make sure they are tramadoles ## Hi Tony, Based on my research, Medix is actually the name of a pharmaceutical manufacturer in Mexico, and not necessarily a brand name of Tramadol. However, further investigation suggests that Medix reportedly manufacturers a drug by the name of "Prontofort", which is supposed to be their version of Tramadol hydrochloride. Other reports on the name "Medix" link it back to diet/weight loss pills such as Phentermine. But I believe this is just another drug that Medix manufacturers. Are there no other labels on the product packaging or bottle? Sounds kinda sketchy if you ask me.

tramadol amneal vs mylan

all our pharms here have switched to amneal.doesnt do a thing except give a headache. brand does make a differance.the mylan works great. ## Yes, there can be differences in generic medications. Once a medication is available to be made a generic, it is allowed to differ, in the active ingredient, from the name brand by as much as plus or minus 20%. The FDA considers this an acceptable therapeutic window. The problem that you can run into, of course, is that generics do not have to measure against each other, just against the name brand. This means that while one generic may be high quality and contain 100mgs of a given medication, another generic may only contain 80mgs and another could contain 120mgs. Not everyone is sensitive to such changes and most people don't even notice, how...

using tramadol 50 mg with gabapentin ativan and zoloft
2 Replies RSS
I have fibromyalgia, has anyone ever taken tramadol when they were on gabapentin, zoloft, and lorazapam ## Hi, Yellowrose. The only thing with the meds you listed is taking the tramadol with Zoloft as they both work on the serotonin receptors and they may cause a serotonin reaction....or toxicity. I can't remember the exact name for brain froze on that one.....look it up though. The side effects of this include confusion, anxiety and some other aspects of this combo in which you should visit your ER if any of the side effects appear....especially the confusion. They will need to stop your medications and give you other meds to combat the reaction. You would probably need to spend the night in the hospital for them to do this so you are safe. I took tramadol 50mg, 6/day and...

i take tramadol for rls for 10 yrs and it is only med i hav taken that helps with ros ## I'm very glad that it's helping you. The FDA now classifies Tramadol as an opioid, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Doctors Who Will Prescribe Pain Medication in Boston
22 Replies RSS
I have been suffering from a failed patella replacement for 12 years. Tramadol sometimes helps, but the risks for stroke are too high. I was being treated by a doctor in RI but he lost his license. Is there anyone in Boston area who can prescribe vicodin 10/325 legally? ## Well, any doctor can prescribe it legally. The main issues are just why its being prescribed, how much, for how long and etc. Learn more Vicodin details here. With the new regulations and issues on the east coast regarding doctors prescribing improperly and over prescribing, your best bet is going to be with a pain management specialist. Do you have a general practitioner that you see regularly who may be able to refer you somewhere? ## Risk for stroke? That's not an elevated risk with tramadol; no more than any o...

Tramadol Tolerance

I have reads that a person who was on Tramadol for 8 or 10 years and as a result, had to take 8 of the 50 mg tablets of Tramadol daily to get results. His Dr. decided to give him a derivative of the drug for a few months to help irradiate the tolerance that had developed from taking the Tramadol for so long. After using the new drug for 6 months or a year. ( Cant remember the details. the article was a few years back) or a year, he switched back to the Tramadol and needed only 200 mg Daily. I can't seem to find any more info on this any more but would be interested in cleaning out and starting anew with the Tramadol. ## Hello, John! How are you? This is known to work for some people and some doctors do recommend 'med vacations' to help something retain or regain efficacy. Th...

Is Tramadol a controlled substance, or is there any type of narcotic in them? I would really appreciate any reply. I would like to know ASAP if possible. It has been subscribed to my 16 year old son and I would like to know about the drug as soon as I can. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much! Hope to hear from someone real soon. Thanks again! ## I was recently given Tramadol and was surprised by all the labels on the bottle for a non-narcotic medication. Supposedly it is NOT a narcotic medication. I asked my friend if she's ever heard of it and she said she gave it to her 12 year old daughter for a full year with no side effects. ## I was browsing this web site for info on another drug out of my usual practice domain and ran across your question. Since I use thi...

I have a white pill of Tramadol with no scoring, and L194 on one side. Does anyone know what strength it is? ## Hello, Kim! How are you? The tablet with this marking is manufactured by Major Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 20mgs of Famotidine, which is an over the counter antacid. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and dry mouth. This has come up before, with people claiming it was Tramadol, but there is none listed in the databases with this marking. The Tramadol tablets with the L logo on them have the numbers 011 and 012 on them. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiod, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. i used to take 2 tramadol a day 50 mg. now my doctor has me on sertraline 100 mg a day, ativan, 1 mg 2x a day, can i take a tramadol for pain, i've took it with sertraline before, no effects, i have fibromyalgia and i need something for pain. ## Hello, Yellowrose! How are you? It is best not take the Tramadol along with the Sertraline, unless your doctor approves. Both of them can increase the levels of serotonin in your body, which could cause serotonin syndrome and that has, in some cases, been fatal. The FDA classifies Tramadol as an opioid, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Sertraline is classified as an SSRI antidepressant and its typical side effects may possibly include na...
