Opana Overview

Oxymorphone, sold under the brand names Numorphan among others, is a powerful semi-synthetic opioid analgesic (painkiller). The onset of pain relief after injection is about 5–10 minutes and after rectal administration, 15–30 minutes.[1] The duration of pain relief is 3–4 hours for immediate-release tablets and 12 hours for extended-release tablets.[1] It was first developed in Germany in 1914,[3] patented in the USA by Endo Pharmaceuticals in 1955.[4] It was introduced in t...

opana or fentanyl confused about dosing
Post a Reply
Hello I have been on 25 mcg of fetanyl patch every 48 hours for 9 months and 15mgs of oxycodone 4 times daily for breakthrough pain. I am thinking about getting off of the patch. How much Opana or (Oxymorphone) would be the equivalent of 25mcg of the fetanyl patch? How much Opana or (Oxymorphone ER) would be the best dose to switch to with no withdrawals?

Opana/Morphine Equivalency
2 Replies RSS
I have been on 15 mg opana er for 2 years. My appointment is in two hours to be put on morphine. They want to put me on 15 mg of that as well. I have a brain disease and suffer from chronic headaches and severe eye pressure. Is this even close to providing the same relief? And I also have epilepsy and if I go through withdrawals I can start to have seizures. How much morphine would it take to equal the 15 mg of opana ER? ## From what I've been reading Opana is fixing to be removed by the FDA because of abuse. Oxymorphone was around in the 1970's and was removed because of abuse. Although it remained in hospitals in inj. form since then and through today. I asked my pain management doctor about what I read about the FDA going to pull Opana and he said that it's more than like...

Pain Relief of Opana ER

I am currently on Opana ER 20mg twice daily, but with not much pain relief. Would a prescription of 30mg twice daily OR 20mg three times a day be reasonable? I have been in significant pain for a long time and want to get something that would make the pain more bearable. ## It really depends on you. A higher may help, but there is a chance that it might now, it could be that this just isn't the right medication for you. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Are you on any other medications?

When Will Opana ER Be Resumed

Has anyone heard when novartis plant will start making opana ER again? This was my best pain med. ## Hi Donna, Some information that I've gathered on the topic has led me to believe that it shouldn't be more than a year till they reopen: "Novartis Chief Executive Officer Joseph Jimenez said the drugmaker is in discussions with the FDA about restarting production at its Lincoln, Nebraska, plant. Novartis temporarily suspended operations at the facility after consumer complaints about broken pills and packaging mix-ups, the Basel, Switzerland-based company said Jan. 8. While Jimenez declined to comment on when the plant may reopen, he said analyst reports that the plant could be closed for a year were a 'big surprise' to him." Took two opana 10mg tablets accidentally

I accidentally took two 10mg opana tablets at the same time. What should I do? Please let me know. I have never done this before so please write me back as soon as possible. ## How long have you been taking it, or other opiates? There is a risk of overdose, the FDA lists such symptoms as possibly including nausea, severe dizziness, severe drowsiness, and somnolence. Did you experience any adverse effects? How are you doing, now? Are you on any other medications?

Generic Opana ER
83 Replies RSS
Wanted to share with everyone how happy I am to have finally received the new generic Opana ER 20mg tablets from my pharmacy. I had found Opana to be very effective for my chronic pain and was very sad when they switched it over to the new formula as it wasn't nearly effective as the original octagon shaped tablets and caused stomach aches. These new generic ones seem to me to be as effective as the original formula had been. The tablets I received show to be made by Global Pharmaceuticals and are a small, round, green tablet with G73 imprinted on them. I'm happy to report that these are just like the original formula. Now I no longer have stomach aches from taking those plastic pills that Endo is selling. I sure do hope that these remain as they are, but I have read a couple ar...

Opana Endo recall

So I heard on the news yesterday that the FDA WANTS to stop production of Endo's Opana. Now my question is are they also gonna make IMPAX/Global to stop production on their generic oxymorphone too? Or is this aimed directly at Endo? I have a script right now that I can't fill for another 2 and a half weeks. What's gonna happen when I bring it in to get filled? It's written as oxymorphone ER NOT OPANA is that gonna matter or am I screwed? Plus on a side note if I would have to get it changed (my script). Would it be too much to ask my Doc to write for 100mg MS Contin or is that too big of a jump from the oxymorphone 30mg ER that I've been getting for a year now? I only ask that because every other milligram of MS CONTIN does not work for me. Only the 100's do anyt...

opana er 20mg ter
3 Replies RSS
Can ms contin 100mg be taken with opana er 20mg? ## Well MS Contin contains the active ingredient Morphine. Opana ER contains Oxymorphone. The Oxymorphine is much more powerful and only requires a fraction of the dose that was being taken of the Morphine. Both are time released. They also share the same side effect profiles: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation. Read more: Is there anything else I can help you with? ## I was on Opana about 8 years ago but it was at a time that I was still working. After a few days of taking it I started to get dizzy, sleepy and my computer monitor appeared wavy. I couldn't work like that so I asked to have my old meds back. I wish I had never done that cuz now I'm permanently disabled and cannot seem to get my doc to put me back on Opa...

pain clinics that treat out of state patients
39 Replies RSS
Does anyone know of pain clinics that take out of state patients? Also looking to get put on opanas, or something like that. Been on loratab 1000's for 15 years and they don't do the job anymore. I realy hope someone out there knows someplace in GA or TN. Hope to hear from you soon and thanks. ## First off, there are no Lortab tablets that contain 1,000mgs of anything. And next is a question, why aren't you looking in your home state? Even if you do find a doctor that will treat you, when you're from out of state, most pharmacies will not fill your prescription under such circumstances. ## I am looking for a pain management dr in the Saginaw area who takes out of state claims from New Jersey, I' m thinking about relocating from Delaware. I got hurt in 93 and have bn ...

What's the difference between oxycontin80mg and opana ER40mg
8 Replies RSS
Hi, I'm new here, hoping I can find some answers by real people. I have been taking 80mg oxocontin 1x12hrs., for app. 7 months, via pain clinic, they just, app., 3 weeks ago, changed my meds from that to opanaER 40mg., 1x12hrs., does anyone know the difference between the two? I have been suffering a long time from pain, due to 2 unsuccessful back surgeries, they tell me now, there's nothing more they can do, I am permanently nerve damaged. I have been thru hell and back with different meds, I'm at a loss, now. Any info or support would be deeply appreciated. Thank you ## They both contain different opiates, Oxycontin contains Oxycodone, while Opana contains Oxymorphone. However, the dosage you've been prescribed is equivalent. Have you tried taking it, yet? The FDA clas...
