After 20 years of taking amitriptyline for headaches I would like to find people who have had any heart related side effects after long term amitriptyline use. ## Very little is known about the long-term effects of most drugs for depression. The biggest problem reported currently is relapse, when the medication is discontinued. Why is trepiline prescribed, what should it do to your body? I feel no difference since been on 25g a night, other than sleeping better I take it with a sleeping pill as well. ## Are you referring to Amitriptyline? This is an antidepressant. I am about to start amitriptyline because of IBS ## WHAT KIND OF DOCTOR DO YOU HAVE! this is a tricyclic antidepresedend it will make you sleepy ## Oliver, I have been taking this medicaiton to aid my chronic pain relief. I am taking only 30 mg at night to specifically help me fall asleep and keep asleep. 30 mg is a very small dose and not meant to treat depression. However my younger sister was prescribed this medication to treat her obsessive/complusive/anxiety in small dosage. My biggest complaint is my weight gain. I plan on removing myself from this drug. Small yellow pill with an atc logo inside a triangle, it is rounded and sugar coated, I believe it to be 10 mg amitriptyline, but i am not sure as it is not listed anywhere. I can only find a grey one, the same but it is Chlordiazepoxide 5mg, so i am not sure what they are
