Is this doxepin (antidepressant) or a motion sickness drug? I'm getting mixed answers when I search online. Apparently doxepin 50mg would be pink (not white). But are they packaged in different colors in canada? Soo confused.

Doxepin 50 mg side effects

I have been taking Doxepin for about a year and I have the side effect of puffy cheeks. How long does it take for the weight gain and puffy cheeks to disappear? ## Hello, Mary! How are you doing? Has there been any change? The weight gain can be a typical side effect and, while it can last the duration of the time you're taking the medication, it usually levels off after a few months, as in it should hit a peak and then stop, you may not lose what you've gained, but shouldn't keep gaining more, according to FDA reports. How much have you gained? As to the puffy cheeks, that is not a reported side effect, though it could be related to the weight gain. Have you consulted your physician?

doxepin and dizziness
1 Reply RSS
I started Doxepin about 3 weeks ago to help me sleep. I went to the doctor because I was dizzy. Thought it was vertigo but it was a sinus infection. The dizziness should be gone by now. The only change in meds is the Doxepin. How long does it take to get it out of my system? ## Hello, Laura! How are you? I am sorry about the problem you're experiencing. Doxepin can cause dizziness as a side effect, as reported by the FDA, you may also experience nausea, headache, dry mouth, and weight changes. Generally, they are transient and should go away, once your body gets used to the medication, but that may take about 4 to 5 weeks. Were you also on an antibiotic for the infection? Most of them can also cause dizziness as a side effect.

Stopped doxepin because of rapid weight gain.

I have been taking doxepin for about 3 months. I gained over 30 pounds. I stopped taking it this week. Has anyone had this problem? Did the weight come off after you stopped taking it? How did you do it? ## Hello, Sophie! How are you? Most antidepressants, regardless of their class type, are known to cause weight gain. But yes, it usually does fall off, once you stop taking it, though it may take a month or two. Have you tried any others? There are some, such as Wellbutrin and Prozac that don't usually cause the weight gain, but can treat the same types of conditions. Their typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hello. I have a question. I just started taking Doxepin and I...

I quit taking my doxepin cold turkey and I am wondering if the negative side effects from taking doxepin are permanent? ## Hello, Sean! How are you doing? What type of negative side effects did you experience? In theory, they should go away with time, but it may take several weeks, depending on how long you were taking it, according to the NIH. You may also experience some withdrawal effects, including headache, diarrhea, rebound depression and anxiety.

DOXEPIN for Severe hives
4 Replies RSS
I had severe hives (urticaria) and monsteresque face swelling (angiodema). Nothing helped. I tried 6 doctors. The seventh put me on 10 mg of Doxepin. Cured! I work hard on keeping the weight off. Have gained some on this drug but what is the alternative? ## Hello, Darla! How are you? That can be a side effect of this medication, as reported by the FDA, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings, and dry mouth. As to your other options, that depends on what else you've tried? Can you please post back with more details? ## Basically I have only tried Zyrtec. Every doctor prescribed it. The bottle says one every 24 hours if I remember correctly. But docs told me up to 7 per day and some said unlimited. Yet it didn't touch my hives/angeodema. Have gained 20 pound. Essential...

mylan 4250 yellow capsule

What is it like? Is it like Xanax? I was prescribed it and I want to know more about it. ## @Milk, The pill you're describing marked 'Mylan 4250', is a 50mg Doxepin hydrcohloride tablet made by Mylan Pharmaceuticals. Doxepin differs from Xanax in that it is a tricyclic antidepressant, whilist Xanax is a benzodiazepine class drug. Even though both have similar applications for anxiety and depression... They both function differently from a pharmacological perspective. According to MedlinePlus.gov, Alprazolam (Xanax) works by decreasing abnormal excitement in the brain. Doxepin on the other hand reportedly works by increasing the amounts of certain natural substances in the brain that are needed for mental balance. Some people with certain chemical imbalances may respond bette...

Doxepin 10 mg for TMJ with buzzing in ears
2 Replies RSS
Could this medicine help with my TMJ symptoms include buzzing noise in ears. When tried I seem to notice noise more & become anxious. ## It can help with some types of nerve pain, I'm not sure how much it will help with TMJ, but it is worth trying, if your doctor approves. And most antidepressants can cause such side effects for the first few weeks, while your body is getting used to them, according to the NIH. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth. Has there been any change? ## I am going to start doxepin 10 mg tonight. It is worth a try. Hopefully it will make me deal with the buzzing in my ears, and TMJ symptoms a little bit better..and maybe be able to get some sleep
