MS Contin Overview

Morphine (INN) (/mrfin/) (sold under nearly a hundred trade names) is an opioid analgesic drug, and the main psychoactive chemical in opium. In clinical medicine, morphine is regarded as the gold standard of analgesics used to relieve intense pain. Like other opioids, such as oxycodone, hydromorphone, and diacetylmorphine (heroin), morphine acts directly on the central nervous system (CNS) to relieve pain. Morphine has a high potential for addiction; tolerance and psychological dependence dev...

insurance-Humana prescription through disability

Does anyone have Humana prescription insurance through disability? My Humana will only pay for 2 long acting pain meds which are MS Contin and fentanyl patches...I've tried the patches and I have a severe allergic reaction to them as they cause itching and burning to my skin and the Morphine ER doesn't seem to work at all. They cover the short acting pain meds no problem it's just the long acting. Even a prior authorization from the doctor won't get any others covered? ## What dosage of the MS Contin are you taking? You may need to speak to your doctor about raising it. The FDA lists Morphine as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. how can i find the ms contin that is not generic? it does not work for me and the last few months i have had trouble finding it. ## Hello, Donna! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. If your doctor has written the prescription for you as 'brand medically necessary' or whatever the equivalent is in your state, your pharmacy should be able to order it in for you. The FDA lists this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Have you tried asking your pharmacist?

what happens when ms contin gels your vein after injection

My friend has been in excruciating pain after taking ms contin 15 mg via injection. What needs or should be done to help him through this situation? ## Hello, Momma! How is he doing? He needs to seek medical attention immediately. That means he's created a blockage, which acts very similar to a clot and that creates the risk of it possibly coming loose and traveling to other areas of his body, such as the heart, lungs or brain. Another risk is it cutting off blood flow and him developing necrotic tissue. The FDA lists this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## First off thank you for your concern. Fi...

Help finding ms contin 15mg in Las Vegas
Post a Reply
Help please! I have been to every pharmacy I can think of in Las Vegas to try to have my MS Contin 15mg filled and all just say tthatit is back ordered. Even my regular pharmacies (Walgreens and CVS) have been less than helpful, saying only "maybe we will have it in a week" (and that was a week ago)! Thankfully, I started trying to find this 2 weeks before my meds ran out but now rx expires in 2 days! Thanks to anyone who might be able to help!

I have 42 pieces of metal in my back and am disabled and need help paying for the ms contin my doctor put me on for extended pain relief ## Hello, George! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. However, since MS Contin is currently available as a generic, as approved by the FDA, there aren't any assistance programs available for it, because generics are cheaper by their very nature. There is a drug discount card link on each page of this site. It is free to print and use, so that might help to make it cheaper. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Alternatively, you could try asking your pharmacy which ones they accept and which would save y...

doctors who will prescribe pain medication montana
3 Replies RSS
I live in Missoula, MT. I was at a pain clinic but got tired of the constant numbness I got from the MS contin I was prescribed, so I withdrew on my own. It was hell, I had been on them for 4 years. I somehow thought the pain would go away. It didn't. I have low back pain from two torn discs, stenosis, and a facet joint problem. My regular doc will give me meds from time to time when I wrench my back. But he is on sabattical and his partner will NOT even discuss my pain....I am so frustrated! Any suggestions on who I can see who may help me for the short term? ## Hello, Kinger33! How are you? Generally, Morphine is a bad idea for that type of pain, it can actually cause some inflammation of the joints, which can make back pain worse, while taking it. As to the doctor not prescribing...

i have been switched from 50mmg fentyal to 30mg ms cotin and seems worse with pain since switch meds seem work for a few days then comes back
4 Replies RSS
I have had 3 back surgeries including a spinal stimulator along with 4 hip scopes. I have yet to find a med that helps. I was on fentyal 50mmg then was switched to 30mg MS Contin. I think fentyal was better but I am only the patient. I was on 7.5 percocet for almost 3 years and feel I built up tolerance. My wife says I have a high tolerance for medications with low tolerance of pain. Stimulator doesn't help anymore as it doesn't control region of pain. I see doctor on tuesday and don't know what to do. I feel may be treated as med seeker. I have lived with chronic pain for over 4 years and want some relief. ## My doctors have switched me back to 25mmg fentyal and 25 mg morphine 2x a day and I had my stimulator reprogramed. I have some relief but it still affects my activity ...

They are small orange round pills with ABG on one side and 60 on the other... what are they?? any help would be great. ## you are correct-it's morphine 60 mg or aka MS Contin ## Yes, Greg is correct. The same answer was also posted in a related discussion thread. It seems like this is commonly being mistaken as Oxycontin when it is in fact Morphine Sulfate CR 60 mg. Please feel free to post back if there are any other questions or information to add about this. ## AS A RULE OF THUMB ms& oxy after ten mg is oxy goes 10 20 40 80 160 mg ms cotin would be 15 30 60 and 100 mg ## purple or dark blue size of ms cotin 30 mg blank on one side S193 on outher was with my ms 100 m...

does ms contin's generic form Morphine Sul have ?
4 Replies RSS
A friend of mine recently told me that she had been prescribed 30mg of MS Contin but opted for the generic Morphine Sul as it was cheaper and was the same as MS Contin but while researching the above med she found that this med also contained both morphine and oxycodone . This didn't make sense to me because if any combination of meds would or could be found in the name brand or generic wouldn't it be more likely that it would be morphine and oxycontin since the name brand does have the word Contin in it ? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated . ## Your friend's information is incorrect. MS Contin contains solely the narcotic Morphine in a time released formulation, the generics are the same. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming a...
