Have been on pain meds for 10 years. I realize the issues going on with pain meds but there has got to be a method(s) that will work because some people are getting their meds filled with no problems. I have supplied all the documentation, go only to one doc and one pharmacy but even they are getting more and more difficult to deal with. The last time she told me (pharm) that she had to have a copy of my pain management contract before she fills any more prescriptions. I would think this is confidential info between me and my physician, even he agrees. What does it take to please these people and get my meds? Any clues? ## The contract, if you've signed one, doesn't actually contain any personal medical information, just the agreement for your treatment between you and the docto...

If You Got A Prescription Filled On August 19 ,2014 with A 8 Day Supply When Is The Next Refill Date ## Hello, Cookie! How are you? It depends on what the medication actually is, for instance, controlled substances wouldn't be filled until the very day they are due, but other medications, such as life sustaining drugs for cardiac conditions can be filled a few days early. Can you please post back with more details? Thanks!

is ultram related or in the same family as hydromorphone ## Ultram is not related to hydromorphone. Hydromorphone is Dilaudid, a class 2 controlled substance. A narcotic and addictive pain killer. Ultram is not even a scheduled controlled substance, is not considered a narcotic; HOWEVER, it has been proven to be addictive. Many people have gotten addicted to the tramadol in it. It has 50mg of tramadol in it. Side effects include insomnia, loss of appetite, euphoria, constipation, among others.

I live in Ky and been on pain meds probably 13 yrs but recently I was gave a script for tyneol 3 by my gastric dr and he knew I had a family dr prescribing loratab 10's but I filled the script for tyneol 3 and my family dr run a kasper on me called me and told me she can no longer write me any controlled substance scripts is this true? please help I am desperate ! ## Hello, I think your best option would be to ask your doctor why she can no longer write the prescriptions you need. What she prescribes is at her own discretion and if she says that she can't write a prescription for a certain medication, then she is allowed to do so. Maybe a new law was passed in your state that won't allow her or other doctors to prescribe certain medications. In the mean time, have you ever t...

Several years of pain meds for back and neck joint deterioration. My Dr. has told me I will soon no longer receive pain meds. Due to a Government Mandate I will go thru a 90 day period where the meds will be slowly reduced. I will be given Naltrexone to help with with withdraws. Is this true? Is our Government sticking their nose into private people's quality of life? How is it possible to assume my joint deterioration problem has gone away? It just doesn't make sense to me! . ## No, that is not actually true. The DEA has issued more strict directives that doctors must use, when prescribe controlled substances and, after that 90 day period, they must have a valid explanation for why the are prescribing such medications... unfortunately, this has caused many doctors to decide to ...

been going to a doctor that has took very good care of me but need to find a doctor that will prescribe same meds to me in a closer area. ## Back in the old days the Doctor would come to you! I'd stick with your Doc ## Hello, Ricky! How are you? I have to agree with Eddy. If your doctor is still prescribing them without a problem, then your best bet is to stick with them. Due to new regulations that were put in place this year, many new restrictions have been placed on doctors and it's harder for many of them to prescribe any controlled substances. This has caused many people to need to start seeing specialists and most of them have gotten flooded by new patients, so they are full up and have no room for more. You can just browse through the recent posts on this site and you...

looking for doc in indianapolis area for pain meds. Fell off a horse and landedon my neck. My doc will only give injections. ## Hi! Sorry that you're in pain. Is there any chance that your doctor can refer you to someone else for pain management? The reason I'm asking is because you're in the part of the U.S. that was hit with the new regulations as of April 1st of this year, due to very high rates of over prescribing and improper prescribing of controlled substances…and due to these new regulations, general practice doctors are greatly restricted in what they can prescribe and how long they can prescribe it. Thus, anyone requiring long-term treatment for pain will need to be referred to a pain management specialist and the easiest way to get an appointment with one of...

1. Limit yourself to one pharmacy and one prescriber of any narcotic. If you have another Dr. That's OK with you staying with another, I suggest you mention the drug or at least be honest about your mixing medicines and prescibers. Most will check you for polydrug use. If you break the covenant about getting controlled drugs from many sources chances as they will drop you as a patient. Also, the RPh may alert the staff of your dishonesty. Always give 24 hours notice at least on refill requests. The problem is with obtaining over the maximum allowable amount of controlled Rx's is the possibility of divertion or addiction and before you know it, your consumption no longer controls your cause of pain. The pain killers may mask the reason you have tbe distress and pain. Then, you have

On a visit to San Antonio, TX in Dec. I was able to fill my pain med prescriptions. As of Jan. 1, a new law was put into place and now I can't fill my prescription. What pain medications will a doctor fill in this state/area? I have recent kidney surgery (my 4th) and a brain tumor that causes chronic migraines. ## Hello, Ginni! How are you? Do you mean they are prescriptions from a doctor in a different state? If so, you'll need to return to that state to get them filled. And without having an established relationship with a doctor, they aren't going to prescribe any controlled substances for you. There were new regulations put in place for that last year. Why didn't you get them filled in your home area? ## Doctors that r willing to write pain meds in New Mexico. I just...

Does anyone know of a good Dr that will prescribe pain meds in Salem, OR? ## Hello, Renee! How are you doing? Due to the new regulations that were set forth by the DEA last year, you'll most likely need to see a pain management specialist, a general practitioner won't prescribe controlled substances, except in very rare instances, such as when a person has intractable pain from a possibly fatal condition, such as stage 4 cancer. Do you currently have a PCP that might be able to refer you to someone? If so, that might be the quickest and easies way to find the help you need. Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area?

My son and I are visiting my daughter in Fla., and we need to fill our prescriptions for pain medication, written by our Dr. in our home state of Maine, but no pharmacy will fill them. Our Dr. didn't think we would have a problem, but he is wrong. Now we are running out of meds and 2000 miles away from home. We had planned on staying for another month, but don't know what to do. I have back and right knee injuries and don't know how I will be able to drive that far or that long without any medication. ## Hello, Karhy! How are you? Sorry about the problems that you're having. Unfortunately, most places aren't going to fill out of state prescriptions for controlled substances, due to the fact that they are very hard to verify and make it easier for someone to doctor an...

I have read some comments on here. I have five herniated disks, degenerative back disease. I have went to doctors who have denied pain meds. O see hy being active, walking, stretching helps. Pain meds are very addictive and after reading some. Of these comments, asking for certain meds it seems practical that a physician sees this behavior as addicts. It makes it hard for people who are suffering. From chronic pain. Good luck all :) ## Hello, Joy! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. And yes, you are correct. Doctors are taught to view that as being drug seeking behavior. Red flags are raised any time someone goes in asking for specific medications in specific dosages, at least in respect to controlled substances. Red flags are also raised, if someone is uninsured an...

Hello, I am currently seeing a psychiatrist near the school that I go to, and a family practitioner back at home. My school psychiatrist has began prescribing me ritalin along with other depression medication. My new doctor began prescribing me vyvanse, but the dosage is not good enough to make a difference and I will not see him for a while. Would it be possible for me to see a different doctor on top of this one and purchase the ritalin via cash; and not use my insurance, but instead use a different pharmacy while I continue to receive my vyvanse from my other doctor via insurance? Thank you so much in advance ## Hello, Thomas! How are you? Doing so would be illegal and all controlled substance prescriptions are tracked, so it would eventually catch up with you, even if you pay cash. ...

I am a 41 year old Family Doctor who requires 2 seizure medications. Topamax 200mg BID has been my mainstay for almost a decade. I have tried (in addition) Depakote, Lamictal and several others. Now Keppra. Although my seizures are controlled, I have developed the most severe cystic acne I have ever seen. Face, ears, neck, chest...incredibly painfully. These cysts have started blocking my tear ducts--my eyes are terribly swollen in the morning. I feel the tracts of these cysts up both nostrils. I have tried everything over the counter, all prescription remedies (Retin-A, minocycline, doxycycline) All to no avail. In addition to the acne, I (who consider myself an even-tempered, non-confrontational human) have become the most hostile, angry person....to the point I cannot stand myself. H...

Has anyone else had trouble getting their pain meds filled? I am a pain management patient and when the new law went into effect Walgreens refused to fill all of my script. Told me I fit the profile of an addict. I've been a customer of theirs for years and it was never a problem before the new law. A pharmacist iisn't a doctor what gives them the right to decide how many pills I get? Changed pharmacies and thinking about getting an attorney. ## Hello, Oldilocks! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you've had. It might be due to how much it was written for, since there are limits on how much of any controlled substance can be prescribed, except in the cases of those who have intractable pain from a possibly terminal condition, such as stage 4 cancer. If the pre...

I talked to a rep at an Indian pharmacy and he indicated that India can no longer ship many of the meds they used to. I'm not sure how to find the exact nature of the new laws in India. ## Believe it or not many Indian Drug companies are legit and do not violate U.S. Law. I would never feel comfortable ordering any C4 or other controlled medicine online and we know it is a Felony any way you look at it ## There are GMP non compliance issues not related to US. It affects EU markets where they do bussiness and internal. Large manufacuters sometimes sub to smaller ones. Some facilities found not go be sterile etc. Probably new regs to be inforced. ## Heck there were Rats & Roaches at IVAX in Miami and then TEVA bought them. I just moved here from fla 3 months ago. I have no Dr or insurance right now. How can I get my maintenance meds. Valsartan and Levothyroxine. Thanks John ## Hello, John! How are you? Those aren't controlled substances, so a doctor shouldn't have a problem prescribing them, if you're paying cash. What state you in? There is more than one Avondale in the U.S. and knowing the state would enable someone to recommend a doctor in your area, if they know of one. ## Thank you. I'm in Avondale Arizona.

i do not have ins and im in pain all day everyday does anyone know a dr who will take a patient with cash that needs pain meds ## Any doctor can take cash and since it is legal tender, they are supposed to accept it. If you can pay for the appointments needed, then it doesn't matter if you do or do not have insurance, though they may ask you to prove that you can pay for them, or to pay in advance, which is their right. The same is true of getting prescriptions filled, the pharmacy can't refuse yours just because you are paying cash, rather than using insurance. Learn more pain management details here. Paying cash, however, does not remove someone from the government oversight radar, all prescriptions for controlled substances would still be tracked. If you'd like someone to...

I recently moved to Gadsden area and I am looking for a good PCP that is not judgmental and/or a psychiatrist that is not afraid to right scripts to treat anxiety and ADHD.
