Prolia Side Effects Ongoing (Page 10) (Top voted first)

Updated

I had my infusion Mar 4 2015. I have experienced severe stomach pains, leg pains that wake me up at night, a horrible dry cough, near migraine type headaches, very severe weakness, trouble walking, constipation, had to have dental work that I usually have great teeth, some trouble sleeping. My rheumatologist did nothing to try to help me with the symptoms but my primary doctor gave me medication that help with the stomach pains, take Excedrin for Migraines and enteric aspirin for back and body, and other meds to try and find some comfort. I'm somewhat better than the few weeks after the infusion but still have a lot of problems. Hopefully this doesn't last for 6 months.

Thank you for posting. Yes...your reactions is very similar to mine. I refuse to take any bone density meds going forward as they all do some damage. My rheumy recently confessed that there is a study going on right now involving a number of people who have developed boney "plates" under their tongues after taking Prolia. Because my boney tumor is over my eyebrow/nose there is not enough victims with my type/location of tumor.

Re: Poodle (# 9) Expand Referenced Message

Hi Poodle, I may look into the law firm you spoke about. I don't think my infections that won't go away, high cholesterol, hair loss, and the eczema will qualify as being bad enough, but I think letting them know won't hurt either. I'm also in Texas.

My rheumatologist said I was just one of those people who can't take any of the osteoporosis drugs. Fibromyalgia people are prone to being sensitive to meds so I'm not totally surprised.

I know the Prolia has aggravated most of my other chronic issues and from the posts I've read on here I'm not the only one.

Someone mentioned Celiac and I can't remember who. Just an FYI of information here on it:

I have gluten intolerance, not Celiac as I was given the genetic evaluation. There is a difference between the two even though the treatment is the same as well as the symptoms. Celiac is a genetic disease and you must have both of the genetic markers. There is also a bowel cancer that people with Celiac can get. Having only 1 of the markers plus all the symptoms, I was diagnosed with gluten intolerance. I'm surprised I don't have more nausea, stomach pain constipation/diarrhea/gas-bloating issues from the Prolia than I do with my numerous gut issues.

I hope you are finding ways to eradicate this garbage from your body as that's what I'm about to investigate.

Hugs and be well!

The Hyaluronic acid you are on....Is that a prescription or is that a supplement? My wife is in such pain, opoids, CBD oils, nothing works...and now nausea and regular vomiting from the use of the meds. Thank you

Re: Jan (# 98) Expand Referenced Message

I had my first injection of Prolia and probably my last, especially after reading all of this. Now I’m scared. Hopefully everything will be okay. I’m sorry for everyone who has all of these problems.

Thx Daisy. I order the 'pureclinica' product. It's 300mg. This is our last hope to get this pain under control.

If the dentist cannot save all of your teeth, you can get a few implants for dentures to attach. That saves your bone in your mouth. Implants are expensive but all dental work is. With Prolia, it's impossible to take good enough care of teeth. I lost two teeth and it was spreading until it ran into a titanium implant and it stopped the Prolia from destroying the remainder. I'm far from the only one here that had roots eaten up by Prolia. One shot was more than sufficient. I'm just glad I survived it. Lost 68 pounds in 3 months. Had everything of everything. Now, years later, certain problems still pop up now and then and it has permanently ruined my hair and nails. It will get better but don't expect a miracle. In the 6th month many things will settle down and others don't. We all have differing bad experiences with Prolia. If you are in the US, you may want to write your problems down and send a letter to your Senators. They have more 'say' with the FDA than our words. Be well~

Are you talking about a natural product or Prolia?

Re: Verwon (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

Need to correct your assumptions. It does not prevent fractures as it thickens the bone but does not provide strength therefore the bones get more brittle and therefore the risk for spontaneous femur, hip and further spinal fractures. The clinical trials do not confirm the premise that is being marketed and I have read many. Just want to ensure that we share all information and not what the physicians or pharma companies push.

Re: Dawn (# 185) Expand Referenced Message

My asthma has gotten worse and I now have something called Asthma COPD Overlap Syndrome. I know this is from Prolia because I never had chronic bronchitis until I took it.

Has anyone else been dianosed with this?

The pain in your jaw is definitely a side effect. I have had that as well as other similar aches in L and R thigh bones, UTIs and headaches. Unfortunately I allowed myself to be bullied into about 7 shots by 3 different medicos but never again. The last one was well over 2 years ago with no respite since.

Re: Poodle (# 9) Expand Referenced Message

Update on the Schmidt Law firm: they are only taking cases of the bones that break while you are walking/stand up. No other side effects are being considered. I now have asthma-related COPD and they don't think a breathing disease you can die from is sufficient. Hopefully, they will take on other cases. This is 2020 when I checked with them.

Re: Dawn (# 187) Expand Referenced Message

Just a note to let people know you cannot get Celiac unless you have the gene markers for it. You cannot get it from a drug. Celiac is an auto-immune disease. It isn't a wheat allergy and it isn't the same as gluten sensitivity (but it's treated with the same gluten-free diet like Celiac.)
I happen to have gluten sensitivity and my body reacts to gluten like someone with Celiac, which is one of the reasons why a person needs to get the genetic test so they can be sure what they have.

I hope this information is helpful!

Re: Nikki (# 192) Expand Referenced Message

Understand what your saying and I must have had the gene for celiac but something has to trigger it....thee has been a large amount of ppl developing autoimmune diseases after having prolia. No one that we know of has in my family has celiac. I'm now 70 and of course I must have had the gene but its really odd that I get no symtoms what so ever but have had a blood test that shows I'm celiac....

Re: Kazz (# 195) Expand Referenced Message

I have lots of English, Scottish, and Irish blood. I thought for sure I had Celiac. It wasn't until I had the biopsy and the genetic test did I know for certain. Gluten free products are getting better, I just wish they weren't so expensive.

Re: Nikki (# 194) Expand Referenced Message

You are correct it is an autoimmune disease but I can tell you from all the research I have done on Prolia which is almost 2 years worth of reading clinical papers etc it can alter you immune system. So if you have the Celiac gene and Prolia wakes the sleeping giant then it could be involved I a person at 70 all of a sudden getting Celiac. This Prolia is deadly for those that do not have cancer in the first place which is what it is really for.

Re: Dawn (# 197) Expand Referenced Message

Hi Dawn,
Prolia does alter the immune system. I know that many people think they have Celiac when the proper testing hasn't been done or they have something that's inaccurate. I wanted people to know there is a difference between having Celiac and being gluten intolerant even though treatment wise it's the same.
Thank you for all the wonderful information you share. I appreciate it.

Sending you hugs! At least I'm not the only one with this issue.
I might have sleep apnea, too. Not sure if that is Prolia related.
