Prolia & Hair Loss (Page 12)

Updated

I've just recently had my second Prolia shot. So far so good...a little back pain. I continually have stress fractures on my feet and have also taken fosamax. My current problem is hair loss & I wondered if anyone else was having that problem?

I had prolia two years ago and I have been disabled since. I was highly allergic. My body burned like I had been dropped down into the fire pit. My teeth snapped off like I had taken a hammer to them. My jaws hurt like somebody was taking a screwdriver to my bones. Several times I thought I was having a heart attack. The pain was so severe from my jaw to my chest. There was no doctor anywhere in kingsport tennessee that would help me or I would even try to understand what I was going through. I went to the emergency room several times and they just gave nothing to help me with my pain or misery that I was in. Doctors did not seem to believe me or understand how to help me with my problems and me telling them the whole time how intense the pain was that I was in. My back has never hurt me this intensely. I have always had fibromyalgia and arthritis. When I was 26 years old I had surgery on my knee but I was never in this kind of pain, never in my life. My back feels like it's breaking. My ankles feel like they're falling apart. My leg muscles my side muscles are so intense I can't stand. I have been in bed for 2 years in and out due to do nothing but get in and out of bed. I couldn't feed myself, couldn't do my wash and couldn't do anything. It even hurts to stand in the shower or to get in a bathtub and have the tub rub up against my back and my hips. After 2 years I'm still truck struggling with the intense pain in my legs and my hips. I've been going to the doctor having every test I can have done enough and they don't know how to help me. They give no advice as far as the prolia. They don't know what the heck's going on.

If there's anyone that knows of a legal case against prolia I sure would like to know about it because I think this crap needs to be off the market. It's deadly and whoever invented these needs to go to jail forever. These pharmaceutical companies start acting like they're some kind of gods in that they can make bone regrow. My doctor lied to me and said there was no ill effects to this whatsoever and I'm very upset with him and I'm not finished with him yet at the court we're going to go. I mean who wants to have to lay in bed all the blessed day and suffer and suffer and suffer and suffer and no relief for the pain so intense you can't stand your body because of prolia. I read some of the messages that have been sent into this and I'm impressed to find out that you can take certain things to help rid your body of this poison. I'd like to know more about it if someone would please inform me because no doctors seem like they have any information to do anything. So I sure would like to have some relief this christmas. I had none through last christmas or last thanksgiving in bed. I can do nothing because of the prolia crap. I called the fda and reported to them my calls with prolia and they did not respond too well to me. I'm very disappointed in that this stuff needs to be taken off the market immediately before it kills somebody, puts them in their grave and takes them away from their family.

Sharyl (# 221) --

I am so sorry for the terrible pain you are suffering from. I also feel the drug should be taken off the market or at least people should be warned of all side effects that Amgen know about... I did see whilst surfing the internet that there was a legal case against Amgen ref Prolia, so maybe try and find out about that. I hope that you get some relief from the pain.

Sharyl (# 221) --

I've contacted a local Attorney that specializes in malpractice and drug reaction cases. On our initial conversation he thought it would be a legal suit, and now he believes maybe it would be best for individual cases. I will update everyone on this thread once we get this together. Until then hang in there. My wife has nearly all of the same side effects. God Bless us all.

I have experienced body hair loss as well as the hair on my head. Otherwise I have been lucky because I haven’t had any other symptoms.

Thank you for your understanding as I have had no one to listen to me other than my family. I still can’t walk good. Does anyone seem to have any vascular problems? I am having great pains in my groin area. This is an acid they put in my body I feel like. I am talking to an attorney now but if anyone thinks we all should get together and try to get a legal suit against Amgen, I’ll be front row to that! I’d say individual legal suits are going to have to be the case but I will go above and beyond to try and get this poisonous drug off the market. I don’t want to see anyone die or become permanently disabled because of this.

I wish you all the best and I hope your wife gets better as I know how she feels. I still can’t walk very good and this has affected my whole life, which I turn affects my family. Prayers your way and God Bless you and your wife and all who are involved. We have to come together to get this poison off the market!

Does anyone feel like their doctors lied to them concerning the Prolia? I was told nothing except “there were no side effects” Is there anyone having abnormal infection in their gums/mouth. Had 5 rounds of antibiotics and still infected. Had all teeth cut out..I had to and now have to get dentures. Groin pain is strong and I have never had this. Went to ob/gyn and nothing found but one of the side effects of Prolia is groin pain. Says to contact physician of you have groin pain so I did that and no answer. Doctors are at a loss here in Kingsport TN they have no education whatsoever about Prolia.

I have a hard time walking and my feet are red hot all the time. The aches and pains have not stopped nor the hair loss and I have not had a shot in over 8 months now. Good luck and I wish you well again soon.

They either lied or they don't know enough about the drug. They take the drug salesman's reports and then let it go. The $1600.00 they charge for this drug has to be an incentive for them to administer this crap. NO Dr. will admit or think it's Prolia as just as soon as one of them say it does, the attorneys will use them as a witness. That Doctor will have hell to pay by the AMA, and others.

As an update on my wife. We are into our 8th month now. The unbelievable inflammation on the ankles, knees and neck area are gone. She's not experienced hair loss or problems with her teeth. But the overall pain in her back and shoulders is 24/7. Her Capillary bleeding in the arms are almost gone, but she wakes up in the morning with some kind of fluid in the back of her throat and it's made her sick thru the night so she wakes up vomiting.

We live in Colorado, and got her some medium strength CBD oil, and it seems to be working a lot better than when we first tried this. The next bottle I will step up the strength.

Good luck to all, and if anyone finds an attorney that will take this case please share.

Re: Patricia (# 3) Expand Referenced Message

Hi. I had very similar symptoms to you. I lost all my hair, also had peripheral neuropathy, vertigo, depression, lack of sleep due to the neuropathy and general aches all over my body, particularly the bones. I had just one injection, and am having no more. The side effects are just not worth it. I contacted Amgen who denied any responsibility and said their drug did not cause hair loss. My consultant dermatologist said that it was known that in a certain percentage of cases, hair loss was known to occur. Having checked the profits made by Amgen from Prolia, I understand why they do not wish this to be listed on the side effects. There are so many people out there suffering that it seems a shame we cannot get a case against them for misleading patients and causing such misery to our lives.

I’d be with anyone who wants to sue and take this crap off the market. I’ve been having sore gums, painful brushing my teeth, walking is difficult as my body wants to pull to one side and strange pain in lower right side of my back. Never had this before Prolia. I’ve 2 injections, certainly won’t go for more. Will talk to me doctor about it next week.

I was on Fosamax for over 10 years (before anyone knew any better). Once I stopped taking the Fosamax, I did nothing for about 10 more years (was told the drug "half-life" would stay with me for a long, long time). I developed a terrible cough, and after over 5 years of trying to figure out the cough, had an endoscopy and discovered that my esophagus was terribly scarred. Asked if I had heart burn, and I denied that I did, other than very occasional. As it turned out, I had gastric esophageal reflux disease (GERD) and I am borderline Barrett's Esophagus, all thanks to the Fosamax. Now, the Drs. are really concerned about my Osteoporosis so I finally started getting the Prolia injections. I've had two. My hairdresser and I are both convinced that I am balding, and I have always had a full head of hair! On top of that, I was exercising regularly at the Y and immediately after the first Prolia injection I developed a very strange pain in my right buttock. There was actually a mass that could be palpated. Went to Physical Therapy for 6 weeks, and it eventually tamed down. Now, after the 2nd injection of Prolia, it feels like it is coming back. Finally, I have developed very itchy skin and patches of what seems like eczema on my arms. Because I use the hot tub regularly, my dermatologist tells me it is related to that - but now I am not so sure. Balding, muscular/hip pain, itchy skin and depression -- and the only new item added to my medical routine has been PROLIA!! I think I will risk fracture for the remaining years of my life. I am 70 years old and up until last summer when I started Prolia I was very active! I am now a couch potato.

It has been over a year since my one and only injection. My hair started coming out like crazy. When I was scheduled for my 2nd injection- I made my appointment to tell my doctor--NO MORE! They didn't seem to like my refusal but-you know?--my health-my hair. I was told to come back in the FALL of 2018 . There is supposed to be a new drug out by then to help with bone loss. I'm 80 years old and very careful , take calcium citrate and good vitamins. I hate to tell everyone that my hair has not regrown. I really don't believe that it will.

Re: Anna (# 233) Expand Referenced Message

I sympathize with every symptom you have as I have had the same, with extras such as terrible vertigo and peripheral neuropathy and have now been diagnosed with MGUS. I know it is due to the one Prolia shot. My hair is coming back slowly, lost it last August - November 2017, but it is very fine like fluff. I am told that after that normal hair will grow, but may take a year or two. I have decided to have nothing more although they recommended Fosomax but reading the side effects I do not even want to consider it. I am just taking care, eating well, taking additional Vit D and hope for the best. Nothing can be worse than the last 6 months of sheer misery and pain after 1 shot of Prolia. By the way, I bought myself three wigs, at a cost of course, but at least I can look normal again.

Yes. I took Fosamax which I could not tolerate so she gave me a Prolia shot. My hair is falling out in handfuls. I am distressed. If I don’t take another shot will my hair grow back? I am taking a ton of vitamins. Does anyone else have any suggestions to make my hair grow back?

Re: Bubbles (# 237) Expand Referenced Message

Hi, I am so sorry it has happened to you as well. I lost all my hair and now after 8 months it is coming back but not as hair, almost baby fluff. I was told by a dermatologist that this will grow out and proper hair will eventually grow. I know it will take a year or two at least. I have three wigs which are necessary to be able to go out and look normal. Some side effects have not gone away and am told they may never go. Amgen refuse to acknowledge these dreadful side effects and quote regulations etc etc and how careful they are. Absolute rubbish. So many people have suffered badly but money comes first. I believe we were being used in trials as hair loss is still not on the list of side effects. Hopefully people will read these messages and refuse to have the Prolia treatment.

Re: Patricia (# 3) Expand Referenced Message

I’m having a lot of the symptoms you’re describing. My doctor highly recommended the prolia shots but now after seeing the pain I’m experiencing she’s told me to skip the next shot. I’ve decided to stop them completely. I’ve read that prolia never leaves our bodies. Even though I did skip one my aches are continuing to worsen. Hair loss is frightening. Everyone should be aware of side effects.

Re: Rosebud (# 239) Expand Referenced Message

I am now 2 months past the 6 months after my first Prolia injection. I will never have another one as the side effects have not gone away. Total hair loss which seems to be growing very slowly and not like hair, peripheral neuropathy, vertigo, indigestion, inability to sleep at night more than a couple of hours, rashes, UTI's almost permanently, and so it goes on. I am waiting for the Dexa scan result to see if this dreadful drug actually increased my bone density. Will message when I get the result. People should be aware that it can have dreadful side effects for some people. If you escape with none then you are extremely fortunate.
