Prolia & Hair Loss (Page 11)

Updated

I've just recently had my second Prolia shot. So far so good...a little back pain. I continually have stress fractures on my feet and have also taken fosamax. My current problem is hair loss & I wondered if anyone else was having that problem?

How do your foot fractures feel? I am on 2nd dose of prolia my hair started falling out the pain is so bad unbearable most of the time.
I was going to skip the 2nd dose but my Dr. Says my bones are so bad i need it. I have numerous fractures in my back.I just listen to my Dr. When i told him i have lost half or more of my hair he said let's do a thyroid test. Test was good!!

Verification: Prolia Hair loss possibly due to Prolia shots.

How do i get in on the litigation against Prolia? My Dr. keeps telling me I need it. I'm so miserable I don't have a life anymore from dealing with all the severe pain. I can't have another bone density scan for a year-and-a-half because of my insurance, so I don't know if it even is working for me!!

Foot fractures are not all that bad. Stay off of the foot and wear a surgical sandal or a boot. Heal in 6 weeks. I got news for your Dr. and your back. It is a proven fact that the spine breaks when quitting Prolia. You are doomed one way or the other. Have you tried any of the other drugs like Reclast, Boniva and Evista? Prolia is supposed to be the drug of LAST choice when all the previous have failed. Be well~

Yes i have. I could not tolerate the other meds. Has anyone dealt with feet, legs and ankles swelling along with all the hair loss and pain. Could it be due to the Prolia shot?

Yes, the first two months my wife had severe inflammation in the ankles, knees, neck, collarbone area. It's been 7 months now, and inflammation is finally gone. Still has not recovered her taste, or sense of smell. Still pain in back, legs, arms, and shoulders. Still has Capillary bleeding in the forearms.

We just returned from a long flight from Hawaii. My feet and legs were so swollen I could barely walk. The pain was also awful. The swelling stayed for 5 days. One leg was very unstable and the pain in that leg lasted for 2 weeks. I always had some small swelling in the past few years, but nothing like this.

Re: Sad Lady (# 199) Expand Referenced Message

Numb and tingling is a side effect from Prolia. It's called 'neuropathy' if I have it spelled correctly. You would have to speak to your Dr. about which drug(s) counteract it to get relief. Others have reported it too. Amgen denies nothing. They believe and our Governments believe that the benefit outweigh the risks. I happen to very much disagree with that belief. Drs. swear an Oath 'to do no harm'. Look what they are doing to us. Is that 'do no harm'?

Yes. I have been on Prolia for about 2 years. My hair is thinning a lot, mostly on one side. It just occurred to me today that the only difference in my life since this started happening is Prolia. It is really helping, but I hate losing my hair. Nancy

Re: Poodle (# 210) Expand Referenced Message

The numbness and tingling with the vertigo have been with me since day one and I feel that I can just about live with that as I know it will end after 6 months, and I am never having this drug again anyway. HOWEVER, the loss of nearly all my hair which I am told will only partially grow again after a year or so is another matter. This should be on the list of side effects so that a choice can be made when the inj. is suggested. I had no choice as it was not listed despite the fact that it is known to Amgem, which is very wrong and cruel considering the devastating effect losing ones hair has on a woman.

Re: Poodle (# 12) Expand Referenced Message

Just to let people know that I had 4 shots of Prolia for two years and I suddenly lost all my hair in just a week. No eyebrows, no eye lashes. No more prolia for me. It worked very good on my bones but I'm devastated and hope that by stopping it, I 'll regain my hair back. I also want to know about the "Reclast" inj. every year. Anybody out there had it, to please respond. Thanks.

Re: Julie (# 215) Expand Referenced Message

Hi. I had zoledronic acid yearly infusions for 4 years with absolutely no side effects whatsoever, not even the flu like symptoms that some people have. However, the one Prolia inj. I had has been a nightmare. I have lost nearly all my hair, have vertigo all the time, red eye, numbness and pain in the legs so I cannot sleep, earache, and am so exhausted all the time. Now 5 months into the drug and just hope that these problems get better after the 6th month. The Consultant dermatologist informed me that my hair will grow back, not as much as before, and firstly fluff and then later on proper hair, but it will be a long job, probably 18 months. Amgem have a lot to answer for because these side effects are debilitating and have caused me to be depressed and tearful. I hope that these messages will be read by people before they choose to have this poison in their system, and will prevent them going through all this suffering.

My sister went into the hospital and had Prolia put into her intravenously every 6 months. She has been diagnosed with lung cancer in the past year but is now in remission. She blames the Prolia. I think she may be right.

Re: Karen (# 217) Expand Referenced Message

I am so sorry to hear that. This drug has some terrible side effects and I am sure Amgen do not know all of them and we are guinea pigs. They seem to have little regard for peoples suffering or at least should warn people of all side effects.

Re: Sad lady (# 216) Expand Referenced Message

Hello. Thanks for your info about Prolia. I know how you feel as I am also depressed mostly by the traumatic damage done to my hair by this horrible inj... I have seen a Dermatologist for a second opinion and was referred to a specialist for my hair loss.
