Oxycontin Op Not Working
(Newest replies first)

Updated

80 mg op received this month. What the heck is purdue doing to me my stomach hurts, my pain is almost all they way back. I'm in agony. Why don't they take whiskey off the shelves and make them put plastic in it. It takes 3 hours for it to work if it does? I've had a headache also. They lost my almost $1500 a month and need something for pain. Anyone have any ideas???

Re: Get a Life (# 20) Expand Referenced Message

Do you not even realize that pain is different in every person?? Kudos to you for being the brave one! Just know that your ability to “take it like a super human” is not appreciated by the rest of us. We HAVE sucked it up as much as possible! I am so very sorry about you son and so wish that he has come through his troubles! I cannot imagine his or your struggle with this! However, be very careful not to paint everyone with the same brush! There are terminal cancer patients out there that MUST have this drug to live through another day! Who are you to school them and deny them? Get a grip! You need to educate yourself!

Re: mikeee (# 2) Expand Referenced Message

Do you have chronic pain Mikeee? If you did you would not be making such a stupid comment. I know, let’s cut off your leg and when you ask for pain meds we will withhold them or give you the ones that don’t work. They have the same fillers! BS to that. Our country is buying from overseas and there’s no telling what they place in the drugs. Educate yourself on this subject. Believe the ones who are suffering. I have had 7 surgeries due to RA. Six of them were joint replacements. Total joint replacements! Without the hydrocodone and oxycodone, I just would never have made it through. And guess what? I NEVER GOT ADDICTED TO IT!!! Your doctor can put you through a step-down method that takes away the urge for a pill. And while saying that, I have only needed that one time for a pretty rough surgery. So, your words don’t mean anything to people who have true chronic pain.

“walk a mile in my moccasins” is a saying that comes to mind. I have had 2 failed neck spinal surgeries that left me in chronic pain and chronic dibilitating migraines. Have been told that no surgeries can help me and refered to pain a Mgmt specialist. Have done all therapies and procedures available. Prescribed anti seizure meds along with an opioid . Worked last 6 years of my 25 year career in misery from pain because I would not take my opioid at work. Working and putting one foot in front of the other and pushing through the pain minute after minute, hour after hour , day after day began to wear my mind and body down . Compromising my nervous and immune system. I retired at 54 and take an opioid daily to try to have less pain and a little quality of life. Please try not to judge so abrupt and harshly unless you know a persons situation. I hope for your life to get better with less pain.

I am ok if I take them at night, but the pain clinic I was going to is OBSESSED with Oxycontin and Fentanyl patches so even though I was good on 5mg oxy 3x a day with Oxycontin at night, they were obsessed with putting me on Oxycontin during the day. It was really bizarre but I got sick of fighting with them and tried it.
Oh. My. God. Headache from hell, nausea so bad I can’t eat at all (I only weigh 100 lbs and can’t skip meals.)
I got a new pain management provider. The old one’s reasoning for taking 5mg oxycodone and adding 10 mg Oxycontin are all the reasons Purdue was sued and settled-the idea that extended release is less addictive, that only appropriate patients get addicted, etc. all listed in the action for fraud that Purdue stipulated to.
If your doctor won’t listen get a new one. I know that’s not easy in most parts of the country, but if you can you might be better off.

Re: angel101 (# 10) Expand Referenced Message

They are supposed to be 12 hours but that was kind of a scam by Purdue. LA Times did a series on the 8 hr vs 12 hr discrepancy and how their misrepresentation caused more addictions. It was interesting to read.

1800-332-1088 FDA CALL THIS NUMBER. THE MORE PEOPLE CALL AND PLACE A COMPLAINT THE BETTER CHANCE WE HAVE IN GETTING THIS TAKEN CARE OF. I JUST GOT A CALL BACK AND SHE IS SENDING ME TWO FORMS. 1 FOR MY HUSBAND AND 1 FOR ME. SHE SAID THAT THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS. THE MORE WE DO THE BETTER WE HAVE A CHANCE OF BEING HEARD. THIS IS ABOUT ALL MEDICINES THAT THEY ARE SENDING OUT OF COUNTRY. THE MANUFACTURES VERSES THE PHARMACIES ARE MAKING TONS OF MONEY FOR OUR PAIN AND OTHER DEATHS THAT ARE HAPPENING. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! PLEASE LISTEN AND MAKE A REPLY.

TO "PISTOFF"
I'M WITH YOU!. NOT ONLY SHOULD EVERYONE CALL BUT YOU CAN ALSO DOWNLOAD AND SEND A REPORT ON THIS DRUG THAT IS KILLING US.
FDA.GOV/MEDWATCH EVERYONE SHOULD DO THIS. THEY SHOULD GET SUED OVER THIS. IT IS CAUSING HORRIBLE STOMACH PROBLEMS, HEADACHES AND DOESN'T RELEASE THE PAIN. I'M MAD, SO VERY MAD THAT I CAN'T STAND THE FACT THAT THIS COUNTRY HAS THE GUTS TO OUT SOURCE EVERYTHING THAT WE TAKE. THESE DRUGS COME FROM INDIA, CHINA AND WHO KNOWS WHERE ELSE. CANADA REALLY CARES ABOUT THEIR PEOPLE. THEY WON'T EVEN LET THIS DRUG IN THEIR COUNTRY. I DON'T BELONG TO ANY COUNTRY. MAY JESUS PUT AN END TO ALL OF THIS SOON. REV.21:1-5
CAN'T WAIT FOR A KINGDOM THAT CARES FOR US.

I HAVE SAT HERE AND READ ALMOST ALL OF THESE POSTS AND I AGREE WITH ALOT OF YOU.. I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH TERMINAL CANCER BACK IN 1999, WHEN MY TWINS WERE BORN. I DIDN'T KNOW I HAD IT, AND PASSED IT TO MY BABIES. THEY GAVE ME 6-12 MONTHS TO LIVE.. I NEVER WENT ON PAIN MEDICATION UNTIL 2004 AFTER MY DAUGHTER PASSED AWAY FROM THE CANCER. I STARTED OFF ON PERCECOT, THEN WENT INTO LIVER FAILURE ON 2007, THEN I WAS PUT ON MORPHINE, THEN OC'S AND OXYCODONE WHEN GOING THROUGH LIVER FAILURE AND CHEMO.. I HAVE JUST HAD MY HOLE STOMACH REMOVED IN SEPTEMBER 2010 FROM THE CANCER..SO, THE ONLY WAY FOR MY BODY TO ABSORB THE PILLS WAS TO CRUSH THEM AND MIX WITH APPLESAUCE OR SOMETHING TO THAT NATURE.. NOW ALL THESE DRUG ADDICTS HAS SCREWED IT UP FOR PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF AND OTHER'S.. SO, WHAT DOES SOMEONE DO, THAT'S IN MY PLACE?? JUST BECAUSE ALL THESE PEOPLE WANT TO BE HIGH.. THAT'S NOT WANT IT'S MENT FOR.. IT'S TO HELP PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF THAT IS SICK AND FIGHTING FOR MY LIFE.. THANKS TO ALL THOSE IDIOTS, THAT HAVE SCREWED THAT UP FOR US...

Glad my kids didn't grow up with all this junk out there. All I had to worry about was pot and alcohol! I can tell who you weirdos are very easily; you can't spell, write without cursing, or carry on a literate conversation!! LOL! I do suffer from pain, but manage it without too much oxycodone, but daily percocet and neurontin with a supplement. Yes, it makes me sleepy, but that's better than being in chronic pain. I also get cortisone injections. Doesn't that help any of you out there? I also thank God. My kid, myself and her family have all found God and we do honestly believe He has helped. I pray for all those that need healing. WE HAVE A HEALING WORSHIP ON THURSDAYS AND IT HAS HELPED ME.

If your taking " an anti-inflammatory" and going to work, than you haven't the slightest idea what kind of pain issues these people are dealing with. We are talking about people that need the assistance this medication offers just to be able to get out of a bed in the morning. This medication offers people the ability to regain some functionality and normalcy in their lives. I am mid 40's, own my own home, a successful contracting buisness and even continue to do some of the carpentry work myself. I was seriously injured over 30 years ago and in the last 6 years have seen my body ravaged by skeletol pain. If not for this medication, which I take regularly throughout the day, I wouldn't have any of this. It sounds to me that your bitterness stems from your inability to prevent your son from his misgivings. Not everyone who takes this kind of medication is a drug addicted "loser", as you call them. Until you've walked a mile in their shoes, and trust me, you haven't even begun to, don't judge.

re:actualrph #47. how can you say dont be sellfish. OMG you do you think your are? you dont have a clue and it is people like you that are uneducated and simply a rude person. I suffer from Interstitial Cystits Fibro and IBS. I have been on OC for over 15 years. I was on it when purdue was doing the original study. Back then i was bed bound unable to work take of my son had to have a nurse...i went from that awful life to working living laughing and loving life. Now? yep ITS BACK!!!!! I can hardly function. So I too have to say that those of you that post hurtful comments dont get it. ACTUALRPH: I will pray that you never have to suffer like us. but then maybe you would then get it.

dude you have no clue. the ops make me sick... I'm even allergic to aspirin and tylenol, i never had any problems with the old oc, the new ones do not work, and yeah. if you woke up every day with it feeling like there is a knife stabbed in both your knees you might understand, but i bet you don't, i cant even hardly walk anymore, and im only 26 years old.. i want to kill myself cuz i cant deal with this pain in my neck, shoulders, shoulder blades . my whole back, hips, thighs, and knees, from a car wreck two - three years ago. wait till i do kill myself, and my family sues perdue for a wrongful death suite, cuz their best pain medication no longer works correctly, i have partially undigested pills pass in my s**t, stool, oh , yeah it still has no change to the main active ingredient, but the delivery system in the new OPs is flawed, i was told by a friend that just got Oxy OP prescribed 10 MGs once a day and they do not even work for him, and in speaking of me, i have an extremely low tolerance for pain, and being on a level between 7-8 every day is unbearable, the ops only drop my pain on a scale of 1-10 to around maybe a 6 after waiting 3-4 hours and it wears off in 4-6 hours, the oc old oc took my pain from an 7-8 to at least 3-4 on a scale of 1-10, a bit more bearable day to day..., so you don't know me at all..... or the new toxic ingredient, used in engine coolant so iv heard anyway, idk if its tru but idk.

You do NOT have any idea what this s**t is doing, this new Oxy formula has toxic chemicals in it and the FDA of Canada DID NOT APPROVE this formula for this reason, snorting the ops if people do get around it would not cause stomach pains, and headaches
i also get the OP 40mg cause of a car accident, i have 3-5 slipped discs in my spine- 2 of them are herniated or bulged out on top of having herniated degenerative disc disease or what ever the f*** this disease is, and iv never snorted or injected these pills even when the regular OC40 were out, i never even knew you could snort or inject pills until i heard about the abuse proof oxycontin, they DO NOT WORK TAKEN ORALLY, i get Very intensive stomach pains, very bad excruciating migraine headaches, i even get nausiated from the new formula and NEVER ever did get any of these symptoms from the old formula OC , besides, if people abused them, thats their problem, not mine or every other legitimate pain person, if they snort or inject and overdose that's their stupidity, maybe they didn't even abuse them, maybe they just wanted to kill them selves. beside heroin is very oftenly mistaken being detected as Oxycontin, i know cuz if had a few friends that did heroin a few years back and overdosed and the parents had the report and they said they died to to an oxycontin overdose and they never even did Oxycontin, they blames it on something that they never even taken.. heroin's an opiate too, and taken large amounts of oxycodone can not kill you, taken large amount along with valiums, xanax and mixing other drugs with oxycodone / oxycontin is what causes overdoses, not just too much oxycodone, i took 1 OC 40 twice a day, (every 6 hours ) and was completely fine, now with the op Oxy a take 2 the same way and takes 3-4 hours for very very little relief, hardly none at all, so f*** the lame abusers out there and had to screw up my only pain management drug, OPANAs ARE too expensive and PERC / Roxicodones 30s are weak., my pain is no longer manageable

to: actualrph I take issue with your comment. Unless you have been a patient who SUFFERS from chronic pain, then yo don't know how it feels to have yet another hurdle. If you do have chronic, severe pain then you should know better than to call someone selfish. People suffer. yes it is unfortunate that ALL MEDS ARE ABUSED but it is more unfortunate that those who need meds have to be further hurt by ignorant and hurtful comments.

to Mikee: Please try to understand & withhold your judgement of others. Some people actually do have problems ambulating and actually do have difficulty "getting out of bed" in the morning. To throw about callous remarks such as "give me a break" is senseless & harsh. Once a person judged me and made snide comments, etc. (behind my back of course) wondering why I had problems and couldn't run about as I had previously. That is, until HE had the same surgery (I've had 21 procedures, surgeries, etc.). To his credit, he apologized to my face and never questioned another's situation. Kind of like walking in another's shoes? I hope you have good health and never are in the position where you are dependent, not addicted, on medications of any sort. There is a difference according to those who actually know of what they are speaking. Grow up.

as my name states, i just speak what i feel is the truth, i'm not here to offend anyone. i'm just like you, in pain looking for the answer. when i first wrote i said it worked for me and it still would if i could still take it, but now i have ulcers like all hell and my lining of my throat burns constantly like i have heart burn even after taking medication for it. i had to finally get off of it because my stomach pain was out growing my back pain. when i quit that's when the relentless heart burn kicked in and has been that way for months. when i eat my stomach feels way too full. yes it did work for my pain but if you're on it, you must stop taking it or you will not have a stomach left. i'm not sure if i'll ever get better from it, i don't know if the med did permanent damage but i will vouch for the stomach issues. and another thing i read that many people have a problem with is very real and that's people crapping out the pills whole, if you're body doesnt break them down then you're not getting the medicine which would put you in severe pain and withdrawals at the same time. this drug was not tested enough before putting it on the market. i've never seen a drug just come out of nowhere without sufficient evidence it's the right replacement like this one. after i started having problems i did alot of homework on this medication and found it's a huge problem and i know people abuse this stuff but the amount of complaints is outnumbering the people who abuse it big time. this medicine was a quick fix and all they were trying to do was catch the sellers and abusers off guard, problem is they destroyed the lives of many people who were using the medication for real. soon enough there will be a giant lawsuit coming as this new medication continues to ruin people's lives. the substitute meds don't work unless taken in high doses which i don't like doing. that's how i ended up on suboxone, it helps enough to get me by til my surgery, which is next week thank god. god bless

The new oxy's do not work.I have been in pain management for 10 years taking Oc's. I have got headaches, nausea and just flat little pain relief. The only thing I feel is a relief from withdrawal,,to feel anything I have to chew them as the polymer melts and sticks to your teeth, this is the first time I have chewed them. These damn pills do not work, simply put.I hope Purdue has to pay out a libility in the future. They best recall this junk, and shame on the FDA for approveing this junk, for they have only hurt the real people who needs this medicine.Purdue doesn't care, all they want to do is to make money, but this backfired on them.Like I said this new oxy op kills pain about like a weak #5 loritab and I take 140 mgs of OC a day split up.because they are 20,s..If Purdue or the FDA does not recall this,I will find another pain relief.I have tried several but the doctors and myself have found out the OC marked not only gave me relief, but also I could function, and not want to sleep like most relivers do,including morphine.

this formulation will take time for your body to adjust but it will work especially over time (1-2 weeks)... you are mistaken if you think the FDA will pull this fantastic new drug because of a petition. this is a great attempt to stop the drug abuse of this medication in this country. yes... it screws the people using it correctly, however this will be much better in the long run for our young people and less fortunate who resort to drugs. dont be selfish...
