Big Pharma's Lockdown On Legitimate Chronic Pain Patients (Page 67)

Updated

Is narcotic pain medicine becoming a thing of the past?

Why are doctors across America phasing out the practice of prescribing effective pain medication?

Will big pharmaceutical companies ever truly understand what it's like to face the other side of the coin?

Lately there's been a musty scent in the air surrounding the use of prescribed narcotic pain medication. Many doctors appear to be running scared as the DEA scours through fields of medical records, inspecting prescribing pads like a mouse scavenges for food in a dimly lit cellar.

Should the day come when doctors recommend Ibuprofen to a feeble man who's been involved in a terrible car accident (breaking several bones / requiring extensive surgery), is this doctor at risk of malpractice when there are more effective options available that they choose not to pick, out of fear? Fear of what? Doing the right thing? No, I don't think this is the reason... Somewhere along the line, in the not too distant past, doctors were loosely prescribing narcotic pain medication as if it would never go out of style. Nowadays, the harsh penalty of potentially losing their license for writing any unknown number of opiate prescriptions over so many calendar days or some other form of strict criteria, has been enough to prevent many physicians from taking even subtle "risks" with patients who are expressing obvious signs of pain and discomfort.

The unfortunately unique problem with pain is that it's not a physical object and in order for others to detect it, they'd have to rely solely on the backbone of our body language using their intuition - something that's gone missing in western practice. If more doctors took the time and really got to know their patients front to back, then they will be their own best judge of deciding what the right thing to do is, regardless of what the DEA thinks about their decision or what their drug representative wants out of the deal. Sadly, until patients are put before profits, the foundation of America's healthcare system remains in jeopardy like an iceberg affected by global warming.

While I believe that the vast majority of human beings in their right mind would choose to do the right thing, we must all work together to become the change we wish to see within every aspect of our lives; and knowing that by doing so, it will shine light on those crossing our path that need it most.

In the meantime, some patients may have to find another way to manage their pain without putting their life or health at risk. Others are turning to natural alternatives such as kratom, cannabis, turmeric and/or implementing various lifestyle changes into their daily regime... But the key is to never give up hope.

What will you do?

Warm regards to all who face life's challenges head on.

I never wished this kind of pain on anyone before ........ but I would not feel any sympathy if the idiots that are pushing these pain med reductions had an issue come up that put them in the same boat they put us in ....... my original orthopedic Dr told me he could not believe i was able to walk into his office and now it seems those that be seem to be making that a reality .... i was on morphine equivalent of 300mg a day, now they have me on 120 mg a day and plan on continue reducing the dosage ..... This is stupid i have always in pain but i could at least do what needed done ...... now there are days i can't even move hardly let alone clean or cook or what ever ..... These idiots need to get their head out of their fecal export hole ....... Those idiots that abuse their meds made a choice to do so & if they have bad experience from it that's on them ....... that does not justify punishing those of us with real issues that need pain meds too have capability of a somewhat normal life ....... i would never call for pain to be inflicted on anyone but if someone hit these idiots in the knee with a high speed projectile i would not shed a tear for them that is a pretty sure thing .....

I am so excited for u..I'm thrilled a matter of fact. At least u will be able to get this for pain relief and if let's say they start to ease up with this opioid crisis u can always go back but for now u have something in your hands to take and doctors are more likely to prescribe. I would highly suggest if u can get your hands on subutex they just came out with a new generic October last year..they are very smooth and the buprenorphine is stronger. Everyone is raving about them. My dosage is 3 8mg a day. Now she said if I need 4 8mg a day she can prescribe it. Just my insurance company will only cover 3 a day so I'm thinking about. It seems with this new generic being so much stronger I'm fine so far with the pain. U can also find another page on this site - it's called Rhodes/Purdue buprenorphine hcl 8mg RP b8 vs Roxanne 54 411, its crazy I have been following them for a long time and never look at the name..u should check it out to get an idea suboxone or subutex... I'd say subutex is way better.

Thx for the info on this new show, I'm dying to see it now..and yes all the trouble with the crisis started here in Florida.. right in the area that I live in now. And sad since I was one of those people who ruined it for others that really needed their pain medication. But I didn't sell them or doctor hop. And I needed them, just not as many as I got..I'm ashamed to say it..but I'm sorry to everyone on this blog..

Hello.
I totally understand what you're saying. A lot of people they really did get trapped in the dark hole of being in pain and abusing their medications. An addiction is a brain disease. You need to look that up that is sad as well. This whole mess is sad. Wishing you the best of health. Have a great day.

Don't you just hate when you hear parents of young drug abuser say crap like "He got addicted after he had his wisdom teeth out" that is such utter B.S. because I had some problems after I gave birth to my son and had to be on Hydrocodone for like 10 days. I always stayed clear of pain meds, never would touch them because my sister is addicted and has been for over 30 yrs. Well after my RX was done, that was it. I didn't call my doctor and say "Oh but it still hurts so bad, blah, blah, blah" no, I knew I didn't need them anymore but yeah I felt like a truck ran over me for like 2 days. You have no energy whatsoever but you go on, carry on and you're fine. SO, you darn right they made a choice. They liked the feeling so they kept right on lying to the doctor or buying them on the street because they like that feeling and they were weak and couldn't stand feeling bad for a couple of days. My sister had like 9 unnecessary surgeries just to keep getting pills. She was out of it, high and nodding out. the whole time her children were growing up. Now she doesn't even socialize and her live in boyfriend is just as addicted as she is. She takes like 180 mgs. of morphine like 4 times a day! She is having a hard time getting them filled now bc pharmacists are calling her doctor questioning why anyone would need that much pain medication. This isn't even all she takes, she also takes another pain pill but I forgot what it was. I seen a commercial on TV where a gal drives her car into a brick wall just so she could get pain medication, very sad situation with people addicted and abusing these medications that are so needed for people with serious pain issues.

I have to say, I think your opinion is well, just an opinion just like I will continue with,. I live in Florida where this whole epidemic has happened with pain management doctors on every corner just about saying welcome in, what can I give you today?. That's how easy it was to get meds around here. I'm sorry to say I guess I'm one that used pain medication when I probably should have, at least most of the time. However I was more shy than a lot others in the means of hopping around, or bluntly asking. I just went to 2 doctors in my time the most I ever had was lortab 7.5, then percocet. Now I used it to help my back and arms at first, then I realized I liked the way I felt when I took more than prescribed. I used them to cover up a situation...my marriage. I know I could have left, but the kids were very small I had 3. I thought do I want my children to grow up with stepparents and just mixed family's? . Then my thoughts are could I make it on my own?? . And will he just let me go? All those questions and more was a huge NO GO. I will never know the answer to my questions because its 32 years ago..all I'm trying to say is addiction runs in my family mainly alcoholics, but myself and my 2 sisters all got addicted to pills. For me I used it to escape reality. It gets worse, back in 2002 came suboxone..yes it probably saved my life. But I can say it's one of the hardest and longest withdrawal one could have. Now it was a CHOICE as u say for me to continue to put those pills in my mouth, but not a choice to be an addict..they are now proving addiction of any kind is in fact a disease. And I would not wish it on anyone..

Merry Christmas, happy holidays, whichever right..so I have been out of touch without having my phone tied to my hip..lol life has been so busy. My kratom group of friends are dead against pharmaceutical companies... of and pain meds, and I should say all meds. Because they rely on kratom and they claim it works. But u will only notice it working once your body is free of medicine..there is a very large group call the American kratom association. I found out that they are fighting for all pain management patients to have their medications given back to them..now this is huge.... I was pleased to read it. I thought of everyone here in need of medicine. It's so true. We have this huge crisis going on and doctors are afraid to write a script. I have watched the way my son's pain management dr. writes his script, just his body language itself shows true colors. It's too bad every single doctor doesn't get together and fight for their rights. I mean all the money they put into college to have the rights to treat and write scripts.....to me it seems like the only patients this crisis has an effect on is pain management having a hard time getting their medications. The street drugs are still on the rise. They will never be able to stop it. The drug lords are too large to fight against... so the drugs are if not more on the streets available today, just at a higher price to pay....now I remember a buprenorphine patient usually takes subutex 8mg x4 daily. That's a huge dose. I don't take it all..I store some..you never know what might happen..so truly the moral of my story is, huge drugs are still on the streets, suicide rates are still high... doctors don't mind writing scripts for buprenorphine..but who is suffering from this??? Pain management... Something is backwards here...have a good one Valerie. I just popped in to say hi.

Re: Kaydollasign (# 1327) Expand Referenced Message

Like you I was prescribed pain meds for getting wisdom teeth out and various other situations that were very painful and normally or should I say almost always I never even finished the prescriptions. My sister on the other hand takes all she can get her hands on but now she's on Suboxone and it's really helped her. Back in 2008 I became bedridden as my back got worse and worse. I was in tears. I couldn't even have a bowel movement because the pain was so great and became impacted. I finally was given hydrocodone for the pain and what a difference. I begin to be able to walk and do physical therapy. I still have the pain to this day as I have degenerative disc disease, herniated discs and arthritis throughout my whole body. Once in the last 10 years I was increased in strength to oxycodone because of the condition and the worsening of pain. I have never taken my meds other than the way they were prescribed for me. Throughout the day in between doses the last hour or two can be really bad but it it doesn't make me want to take extra. I don't happen to like the feeling of taking more then what I'm supposed to. I found that out when I had a surgery and they over-medicated me once. Also had a surgery back in the 80s from a ruptured liver and I asked him to please take me off the morphine drip I couldn't stand the feeling. I guess I'm lucky that way because it's not like that for someone who's addicted. I know my body is dependent upon these medications but I also know that that's different from being an addict. I hope with all of my heart that they get their heads on straight at the CDC and these legislators that grab their guidelines and ran with it making things into law and hurting pain patients to the point where people are committing suicide because their life is no longer worth living with torturous pain. I'm very fortunate that it hasn't affected me yet but I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop here in Wisconsin.

Hi,

I'm just popping in to say hello to everyone. So, HELLO everyone. I'm doing so well on my Suboxone. I feel great I'm so excited because I know brighter days are ahead. My pain is under control all is pretty good. I just got tired of playing the pain management doctors games I'm over them. So I decided to go on Suboxone and it's wonderful. Have a blessed day and I'm wishing you all the health in the world. Talk to you soon.

P.S. I miss talking to you Charlene, hope you're doing well.

I'm very glad to hear you're doing so great! That's wonderful news, Valerie. I was wondering if you could tell me what your pain was and if the Suboxone is actually working for your pain. My sister takes it too still wants to go back to opioid pain management.

Please tell me how to deal with withdrawals coming off hydrocodone and hysingula 40. Any help would be appreciated. I do have meds left, just need to know in what order to begin the weening process. I have been on them 5 or 6 years for chronic pain from psoratic arthritis, osteoporosis, bursitis, etc. I am almost 59yo, full disability. My pain doc has retired. I see new doc Fri. I have heard rumor that new doctor is cutting 99% of patients out from opioids due to gov BS. I am so worried. I do not want to be wheelchair bound and in pain. I'm in pain taking them, but they do take the edge off. I can walk around my house, just not grocery store or shop.

Re: Sabrina (# 1333) Expand Referenced Message

Hi. U can ask your doctor for Clonidine and low dose of xanax to help with the withdrawal symptoms. I hear a lot of people also using kratom too. It works great for withdrawals and will help with your energy levels. Buy from a reputable vendor online and capsule the kratom powder yourself. Magnesium malate is also something good to take to. I get mine from the vitamin shop if u have one near u. If not, they have an online store to order from. Hope it goes well with you. Withdrawal symptoms are very painful and my heart goes out to you... Keep us updated. thx

Blunders and Knuckleheads in American History.

Why as a society do we bother to include history in both public and private schools? I like to think we are supposed to learn about questionable policy so as not to make the same mistakes over again!

Slavery was an American institution once.

Anyone remember what happened to Japanese American citizens during WWII? They were rounded up like dogs and placed in concentration camps.

What did prohibition accomplish? (It made Joseph Kennedy a wealthy man)...

Does anyone remember the substandard armament issued to on the front line during WWI? It's all about a French gun that was almost guaranteed to fail. THE DECISION WAS NOT LEFT THE MEN FIGHTING THE WAR. IT WAS LEFT TO THE BUREAUCRATS IN WASHINGTON!!

It is OK Uncle Sam to admit errors in judgement! How about we take a step back and take another look at this war on pharmacology. This time let us give consideration to the infirmed and incapacitated!

Re: Charlene (# 1336) Expand Referenced Message

Is there anyway you could send that to me please? I decided to give up on going to doctors. I am happy to say that I have had nothing but a few aspirin a day for a couple months. I'm not saying that I'm pain free but I'm dealing with it. I just got so tired of the s*** that they're putting us through. Good luck to everyone on here and I will still sign partitions when they come up. Take care

You may want to do a kratom for pain search b4 you order any. I have done some research & there a several options available ..... i have not tried it yet put i need to ... My meds will be down to about 30% of what i was receiving a year ago ... I was a little over 300 mg a day & I will be down to 90 mg at my next appt .... & ..... I am hopeful that they will stop dropping as that is the upper end of bogus cdc max dose .... it is not a mandatory limit but the Drs don't want to document why they are scripting over that amount .... any way like I said I hope they stop reducing but I don't think they will he kinda hinted the cut will continue .... what ever happened to "do no harm" ..... my ortho told me i should not be able to walk in 05/06 & it appears this place wants to make it a reality

I request that in the very begining of your reply that you show the state that you from. I feel like I am just responding to a CLOUD. New England is so up and down with pain management compared to the states in the South and Midwest. What is Sativex? And, what are you experiencing since you have started taking it?

Hang tough Sabrina! The more I read about stories such as yours, the more it seems my christian duty to serve as a voice for the people. I have no problem meeting face to face with the appropriate bureaucrats in Washington! Perhaps this an appropriate time to get a consensus from those folks contributing to this website! I feel a bit like Moses when he said: "FREE ME PEOPLE!"
