I need to find a primary care doctor at the va cboc in Huntsville, AL. My pcp at the Madison clinic cut me down 120/90/60/30 and tramadol as a pain option. She told me she didnt think i hurt like i said. I have chronic RA and the hydrocodone 10s allowed me more mobility. I can barely get out of a chair when i have sat for awhile. The getting out of bed in the morn is even worse. Hope yall can refer me to a good va pcp in Huntsville, AL.

Thanks Used Up, I have been on the search for an upstanding psychiatrist! At least I have a great girlfriend we've known each other as neighbors & she & other friends @ church (when I can go) have been helpful. I felt so much better after 2 talking 2 my neighbor next door. Who works @ the hospital I usually go 2, couldn't believe awhile ago when I had those X Rays done & that this doc.wanted 2 set me up right away 4 surgery on my back. She gave me a number 2 call her husbands surgeon & they said they wouldn't even think about any kind of surgery without current X-rays, MRI & other tests first. So that was great 2 hear! It helped calm me down, wow what anxiety 2 go through.I'm hopeful that I can find the right phsyciatrist 2 help me by being better able 2 listen & understand all that's happened.Id like 2 take these docs. Who've done so much 2 ignore me and/or continue 2 treat me when they could c the damage that was happening 2 me by keeping me on the same meds! After repeating how horrible I was feeling & even showing the marks on my body from scratching so much. the itchiness of my skin was enough to drive U crazy! Like all the time trying not 2 scratch.yet not 1 would seem it was a problem. Well of course it was a problem!!Then u tell em over & over. U can't sleep cause of it & the body jolting like zapping U all Nite long. Family & friends just cant understand the way I was being treated so unprofessionally n!! & that cortisone shot (heard round the world) did me in the worst way, back on diabetic meds now because of that!Even though they were told. I'm getting some tests done on my left leg & c if any thing can help. When u can't feel ur leg & foot only at certain times. or it's feeling like its on fire inside than goes numb & the feeling turns 2 a freezing cold its horrible. My best 2 all stay safe infomed

Looking for doctor in Raleigh/Durham that will prescribe pain medicine. The doctor that I was seeing thought my wife took my medicine. He is deciding to cut me off w/o tampering or offering any solution. I am on 60 mg of methadone and 1 mg of xanax It sucks and is unfair but if someone could recommend a doctor in Raleigh/Durham I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Is there a way 2 find an Attourny or some kind of representitive U can go 2 & get help against wats been done 2 u & wat has been not done 2 help U. When theses docs did wat they did & then not listen 2 change 2 help u. They were told how sick U feel on Meds. Yet continued . I don't feel like I even have any opptions left. not sure I even feel like going on. My best 2 u all.

wade66, VA's have stopped prescribing pain meds for most of theri patients who have chronic pain. Veterans have had to go to doctors in the private sector to have their pain managed. Any new dr you see will want a copy of your medical records from your previous dr. Depending on what the dr wrote in your medical records you may or may not be able to find a dr who will manage your pain.

Best example a primary doc who saw me practically crawling in 2 her office in such pain from back prob. Sciatic nerve. The L4 L5 & lower S prob. Kept me on that tramadol & even wanted 2 put me on lexapro. Wow a double whammy 4 the SERITONIN syndrome. The other doc who did the shot of cortisone causing me 2 worse prob. Now back on diabetic meds. When yet again told ahead of time I didn't want 2 take the risk yet wouldn't treat me unless I did the shots 2 get meds.told that doc 2 that Tramadol was feeling like it was hurting me .. So many meds during all this just 2 get urself better. & u just keep getting worse ! Those drug pushers from the pharmaceutical co. Going in these doc offices & giving out samples that then are given out 2 u. Have had so many withdrawals from those meds. Yet they all kept me on TRAMADOL till I pulled myself off. ER DOC. Only one listened & new my body was internally poisoned my nerves were damaged. Wanted me on Percocet or such 4 the pain. My mind had changed in ways that R hard 2 explain again damage done by that med. Wanted me on a dose of Xanax 2 help my nerves & calm my mind down. Well u no of course the docs won't do it even though they can. U get feed up going here or there & not getting help. Ur looked @ like a drug seeker even though U have the x-rays MRIs . Paper work & they don't even want 2 look @ u. they insult u tell u basically like its ur fault & u should lose weight. Or even yell @ u. I have written & called my ins. About all this back & forth crap. & the treatment ... Then when most all these meds say can or will cause weight gain !! Yeah Id love 2 lose more weight if I could walk I would. Then u go. Home & cry. I even told that I had had 2 call the suicide hot line a few times b 4 thanksgiving & no my 1 doc could find the time 4 me. So o I just stopped taking the tramadol. that's when the ER DOC saw how horrible I was shacking & not making any sense just kept quiet.. He could c in my eyes I was terrified. 1st gave me 2mg. Of Xanax 2 help stop the overwhelming anxiety caused by that med.Gave Me a shot 4 pain & was on a drip for pain with the saline. Had a nurse stay & also treated me with compassion. Since then I only get some Tylanol 3. Of course no xanax. The water filled blisters have since gone. The itching still a prob. The scares will b with me 4 ever. Now these probs with my left leg & foot going numb, cold then hot swirls up & down. I can't even still sleep without such bad nightmares, I don't even want 2 think that I might have 2 lose my leg. I wSaw my X-ray & even I can c the mess. Y all this been going on these long past yrs. i feel 4 u all & keep u daily in my thoughts & prayers. I just can't seem 2 take anymore. The Suns been out & again I miss so much of life bless u all.

If you are a disabled senior or anyone else with documented pain issues don't think about going to Florida to live. I have never seen anything like this, they make you wait months, get a refferal to a pain clinic, charge a fortune to see a pain doctor, and get something that isn't anywhere near what you have been on for years, so you suffer.

wade66, put Medicare Physicians Compare in your search bar. That will help you locate a Pain Management Dr and any other dr who accepts Medicare in your area.

What if you live in a state where they are vilifying anyone on narcotics of any kind, for any length of time. If you take the meds, your labeled, no matter what your images show, or what they've seen because of doing surgery on you? Then the PM Dr threatens you, that if you don't do what he wants, AKA be a Guinea Pig, he'll drop you. So, you agree, but what he tried only multiplied the pain 1,000 fold! Then he dropped me anyway! Now you can't find anyone else to help, let alone getting meds to help, without going out of state!

I'm in upstate SC. No one is prescribing for pain. The whole system suddenly decided we all are a bunch of pill popping junkies. I was just through back surgery in December. 3 fused discs + lots of other work. Got 30 percocets from surgeon. Turns out I couldn't take them. Caused seizures. So they said oh well. Prescribed me 800mg ibuprofen. Yes. 3 days post op and I'm prescribed Advil. I've seen 4 other pain docs. All treated me like a junky. Never even examined me physically. All should have their licenses revoked. BTW, they all did drug panels at a huge markup ($1200 for a U/A), and proved I was clean. MRI's show massive disc degeneration in another part of my spine on top of the fused area. NOT ONE DR EVEN LOOKED AT THE MRI. NOT ONE. The system is broken for those in pain. We have been cast out to live in misery and hopelessness.

I live between Mankato and Hutchinson, MN. My first lower back surgery (fusions) was in 1982. Which seemed to be better most of the time. When not a visit to Dr for check up and some medications, PT, and a chiropractor would help me through the pain. The pain and discomfort seem to worsen a little through the years but nothing to serious until 2005. I injured my lower back at a maintenance job. After over 2 years of BS and me changing orthopedic Dr's. It was determined that the old fusion let lose on the left side, I have spinal stenosis, I have arthritis in the vertebra's above fusion, and the vertebra above the previous fusion was so deteriorated. After seeing even another Dr to confirm the diagnosis. It was decided to go in repair and rebuild my lower spine. After 10 hours of operations, being cut open from above groin area to under my ribs, in front and in back, placing some of my insides - outside of me to get to damaged areas of spine. The orthopedic surgeons had scraped old fusion away, scraped arthritis out of vertebra's, fused top of hip / tail bone area and 3 vertebra together, and then put tons of metal screwed and bolted to my hip / tail bone area and those 3 vertebra. 6 months or so go by and even with all kinds of medications I tried and was taking, oxycotin, morphine, oxycodone / hydrocodone, percocet, tramadol, fentanyl, toradol, gabopentin, neurontin, lyrica, lorazepam, lidoderm patches and cream, the pain is still so extreme. That the surgeon's and orthopedic specialists conclude that the metal in my back is causing my extreme pain. So another surgery they took out most all the metal, a plastic lb zip lock baggie over 1/2 full. That helped the pain enough for me to function with a lot of medications yet. But the nerve and whatever else damage was done now.

With PT and time to recover from the surgeries I was released to my primary medical Dr. This went fairly good and together we ( my Dr, PT, and myself) were cutting back on all these medications. After the PT and pool therapy visits had run out and my primary medical Dr left the hospital I went to. At my requests I was given another Dr, then another DR, and finally another Dr that seemed to be willing to work with me on all my medical issues. Except this Dr will only prescribe pain medications short term. Then this Dr refereed me to a pain management specialist (AP) and they would control my pain medications. I had so many inj's., steroids, and nerve blocks that I had hit the limit that a person can get in 1 year, in only 1/2 of a year. This went good until the Dr and nurse practitioner changed with out myself being informed. My pain medication list changed, the oxycotin and morphine stopped . The new medications list was - increase the gabopentin to 600 mg and take 3 times a day, continue the 10mg oxycodone / hydrocodone, added 50 mg fentanyl patch every 3 days, and added lidoderm 5% patches and cream. Then (AP) gave me a so really rigid back brace to use when doing physical things, that I couldn't do anything when I wore it. After a couple more visits (AP) cut back the fentanyl patch to 25 mg but to every 2 days, not 3 days.

Keep in mind, through all this hectic scheduling and my life and pain being flip flopped around. My primary medical Dr and I are working on other physical issues that I have. Number 1 being CT. I went specialists and had EMG's to find out what I already knew, CT syndrome and surgeries again. I already had 3 CT surgeries on my right hand and arm, with the third one getting staff infection and 2 CT surgeries on my left had. I knew that there has to be something else going on that they keep coming back after healing and little to no relieve of the CT. So I informed the specialist and my Primary Dr that maybe its coming from my neck because I do have some problems there. And some years ago I had a vehicle accident, at that time the Dr's said it was a soft tissue injury to my neck. So I'm refered to a neck specialist EMG and MRI's done. When I see the specialist (his diagnosis) the first thing he tells me is that I need bone fusion of 3 vertebra in my neck. Do to degeneration of the left side of those 3 vertebra and a bone spur in the third one down from skull. I'm not up for that and inform him that I need to consult with my primary medical Dr. And that his assistant has been rude to me, messed up 2 appointments with him, lied to me, and I don't want to consult with him any more. My primary medical Dr got upset with me when next appointment came. I explained that I would like to explore other ways, for the neck, CT, and pain from those issues not bone fusions again. She refered me back to (AP) to assist with those issues too, so I did. (AP) reviewed images and recommendations from the neck specialist. (AP) wants to schedule me with inj. in my neck right now. I inform them that I do not feel comfortable with that direction. Because they have not even managed / relieved my pain and mobility of my low back. This upset (AP) and they still insisted to get inj's. in my neck. I insisted that they deal with low back issues and assist to relieve pain and mobility first. Or admit that they can not do anything anymore for my low back issues. And if possible recommend someone that can help me. Only then will I consider any type of inj's. or anything to my neck. Then (AP) had the nerve to set up inj's. one time without my permission or letting me know. I get a reminder call with conformation and instructions on what to do before inj's. scheduled appointment for the next day. I cancelled and next visit I informed (AP) they can not do that and deal with low back issues first. They got very upset with me and the Dr, nurse practitioner, and I had a meeting and agreed to addressing the low back issues before neck. Believe it or not, but (AP) scheduled me again for inj's. in my neck. Again I canceled and inform them that I was not doing anything with them about my neck until back issues are addressed. Now my scheduled monthly appointments are getting strange, I'm being stared at by all the assistants and nurses coming and going. (AP) personal leave me set in the room for up to a hour sometimes with out letting me know whats going on, where I have to go to nurses station to get their attention. Which end up to be just for medication refills, and this behavior continues. I inform my lawyer of the actions and treatment that (AP) pulling on or to me. I tell him that I think that (AP) just wants to address my neck issues and not my low back. I believe this is all about the money and they would have to admit that they just cant help me with my low back issues. And I believe that (AP) is going to get rid of me do to there own mismanagement of me and my case. My lawyer agrees with me mostly its just some little things that they do and go through to either get rid of me or be able to continue on with neck to safe face. My lawyer informs me that this probably isn't over with (AP) and try to not upset them.

At the same time I get my medications from a different private pharmacy (IWP) which is in Michigan I believe. The pharmacist has in 3 occasions sent me the wrong medications through UPS, which this process takes a few days. These 3 times the resolution from the pharmacist are as follows so that I will not be witout. The first time is take the wrong medication (he said it be ok) until he can get the correct one shipped to me then throw the incorrect ones away, which I did. The second time the same pharmacist (said it be ok) told me to take until he can get correct one to me and then send the unused incorrect medications back, which I did. The third time the same pharmacist told me to send the incorrect ones back and when he gets he will send me the correct ones. I questioned his approach and resolution because that would leave me with out pain medications for 3 or 4 days to a week or so. That this is not the way he handled the other two screw ups by him and I was not going to be with out pain medications for who knows how long. I will send the incorrect medications back at the same time that I receive the correct medications by me from UPS. He lost it and was rude, called me names, swore at me, threatened me, and so on. I politely informed him that I did not have to take that verbal abuse, to calm down a little, get the correct ones in the mail to me, good bye, and I hung up. He called back and I did not answer, he left a very verbal abusive uncalled for message. Then he called back and again I did not answer, he left a message apologizing and politely ask me to return his call, which I did. He was calmed down some and we agreed that. He would send the correct medications out to me that day. That I was to use the incorrect medications until the correct ones arrived. They came in a package of five so only send back any unopened packs of five and disgaurd any left over from a open package of five. So I used what I needed to and when the correct medications arrived, I sent back all unopened packs of five and threw away the ones in the open pack of five. During all this time to get me the correct medications (took him 11 days to get to me) he was calling once or twice a day and the verbal abuse and threats went on and on. After he received the incorrect medications that I sent back the phone calls continued but now he was accusing me of doing all kinds of things and I was going to pay for this. On my next monthly visit to (AP) everything went as usual or not usual as should be. I get the prescriptions from Dr and send to (IWP) pharmacy. As I am waiting for my medications to arrive they don't arrive, so I start checking out where they at. Come to find out that after I sent back the last incorrect medications to (IWP) this pharmacist cancelled me from getting any more medications from them. I called (IWP) and the pharmacist would not talk to me, but his assistant told me that the pharmacist did tell (AP) but not to me on the phone and in writing what he did. That he would not send prescription back to me or (AP) to fill else where. I called (AP) to get a new prescription and they told me that they can not write another one with out getting the others back. I contact my lawyer and he said that the pharmacist at (IWP) may have been checked out by the DEA or one of those organizations and got his butt in trouble and he would try to talk to and get cleared up. He could not because the issues with that pharmacist and been documented and there is no undoing because of him.

My next monthly visit to (AP) I was treated really bad and every one was rude to me. Then I am told that I have a new Dr, that was news to me. He comes in and very rudely calls me a drug addict and tells me he is cutting me off everything except the hydrocodone / oxycodone and cutting them back to 5 mg. Then because of my addiction he was only going to prescribe weekly so he can monitor me. He monitored me and next monthly visit comes and there is different assistants most of them not there and a different nurse come in my waiting room and ask me to do a UA. So we do a completely different process of do UA process then I ever seen, done,or knew about. I waited another 1/2 hour and my usual nurse practitioner and another lady I never saw at (AP) ask me to come in another room. I did and they inform me that I failed the UA. I ask to see it and then they told me that I failed it do to incorrect temperature and they poured it out cause they can do that. They told me that I could leave go get pop, coffee, water, and or have a cig and come back in 1/2 hour and retake. I said ok that i will go get gas, coffee, and have cig and come back and redo. When I came back they had me go into another room, they requested me to empty pockets, take off belt, they did a frisk of me, then ask me to take UA. Which I did and was taken out of that room. Then they came and got me and started the discussion out with, is there anything you want to tell us. I said no i have nothing to tell you, but what going on. they informed me that I failed another UA do to incorrect temperature. I ask to see it and they gave me the same line and poured it out. And by the way the month before this one I failed my UA do to incorrect temperature too and (AP) was releasing me from their care. Because the (AP) contract I signed way back states after 3 UA failures (AP) can let me go . I just said how could that be and what just happened here, I don't understand. Then I was escorted out of (AP)

With discussing with my lawyer he said that this is how they do these things and if tried to derail their attempt of getting rid of me they would of just found another way. That I was totally correct in what I told him before. But for now we need to get me back to my primary medical Dr and redirect so get taken care of. Well that didn't work because I set up a appointment with my primary medical Dr and two days after I made the appointment I received letters from(AP) and my primary Dr releasing me of future care. Come to find out that all of this BS was started and pushed throw by the pharmacist at (IWP). He even contacted (AP) and my primary medical Dr on three way phone conversations to do this to me. And now I'm on a black list or something like that for getting pain medications. I have tried other Dr and no one will help me to get back on pain medications. A couple of months ago I took a nasty fall, fracturing my hip, tail bone and pancreas. I still can not get any pain medications to help and still to this day I can not barley walk around the block, can not do anything physical, and so on. Then I find out that these insufficiency fractures are not healing do to I have the begging of osteoporosis. I have to start taking daily inj's. of Forteo to see if it will build my bone density and hope these fractures heal correct. I documented this to the best of my remembering. Just going through this I see it so clearly what was done. But its to late and I need help if there is any one out there that can help.

Hey Greg, I live in the Raleigh area, Wilson to be exact. I went through 5 doctors until I found the best one and the only one who will prescribe pain meds. Unfortunately he is in Mooresville. However, please believe me when I say he is worth the drive. He is by far the best doctor I have ever been to second only to my doctor back in FL. He found things in one visit that no other doctor even considered in the 9 years I have been dealing with this. He also is very proactive and extremely in depth in explanations and planning for what can be done to help alleviate my pain as well as dealing with it meds wise. He prescribed me all the meds I was on before I left FL my very first appointment and he also will not suddenly take you off of them if a problem arises (say you fail the pill count or drug panel), he will ween you off of them. Which no other doctor did for me. I was unceremoniously taken off my meds and left to suffer withdrawals. However, I should let you know that he is very strict. He makes you sign contracts, take scheduled and random drug panels, random pill counts, must bring all pill bottles (empty or not) to every appointment, and he also records your voice while asking you questions that the DEA can plug into a computer to tell whether you are lying or not. So if, after all that, you still want to go see him (I think you should because you won't find someone as good as him) here is his name: Dr. Mark Hines in Mooresville, NC. Also you can say that I recommended him, in the "who referred you" spot put Christina Marie P. I hope this helps, if you need help with anything just write to me here again. Also please let me know if you plan on going to him, just so that I know and that I helped you. :-) I really hope this helps you.

Karen, a great place to find attorneys by you is a site called Avvo. It is like Yelp, but for attorneys and legal answers.

Also, Trme - If no one has answered you yet it is because no one has an answer for you. So there is no need for you to get testy and make a snarky comment like you did.

Thanks everyone and have a great day. :-)

I just got a call from some mail order pharmacy in TX asking for my insurance info (I live in SC). I've never heard of this pharmacy so I asked what they wanted my info for? They said "you're dr., Dr Loudermilk (my pain management Dr) had requested this script be filled. "What for? " I asked. "Gabapentin" they said (AKA Neurontin). *BTW I've tried this drug twice under this Dr's care and had NO relief from it and we stopped taking it. I asked the price as this pharmacy isn't covered under my insurance. "$480" they said (for 1 month supply)

Is this legal? Can a Dr. go around the patient and call a script in without talking to the patient? Especially to some pharmacy the patient doesn't use? Also, how is this not negligence on his part for pushing this ineffective med on me twice after I had used for 3 months with no relief and told him and we had agreed to stop it. The second time he had just written that med on the same script as some Duexis (800mg ibuprofen). I caught that at the pharmacy and declined to fill it. Told doc at next visit that med does not help me. Stop prescribing it. He said okay. Now he goes and does it by going around me. This can't be legal. I'm Going to file a complaint and hire a lawyer. Anyone else have this happen? I'm incredulous. Speechless. The third party pharmacy has to be giving kick-backs to the Dr. Otherwise they'd call my pharmacy. btw. I asked the pharmacy that called and yes, they would have just shipped the med and billed me but called for insurance info. Whoops. I bet they won't bother anymore and just ship regardless. We are just livestock to this industry. Getting squeezed for every drop of milk until we run out. Then dismissed from "care". "Care". Has ANYONE actually felt cared for when they see a doctor in the last few years? Has ANYONE had their Dr. actually LISTEN before suggesting a course of treatment? Now they have decided before they ever meet you or hear your symptoms. If you have scans do they even look at them? Not one Dr. has even looked at my most recent MRI. A scan that cost me $1500 out of pocket and the analyst concluded severe degeneration of lumbar discs, stenosis, Spondylitis, facet degeneration and severe arthritis, and a bone spur pressing on spinal cord. And I see a "Pain Specialist" who never looks at the scan and labels me a drug seeker.

I've tried 5 "2nd opinions" now. All have been rude, evaluated me for drugs (came back clean every time) and all have dismissed my pain as nothing to give a damn about. A couple have suggested "have you tried Tylenol?" Or "Have you tried ice for your pain?" They think we are amateurs. I've been in pain for 15+ years, seen dozens of Drs, Orthopedists, surgeons, physical therapists.... all listed in my medical history that I provided when starting with my Drs and they ignore it all and think I'm an i**** who has not tried EVERYTHING possible. If I explain this to them they get angry with me and end the visit. (And give a script for something already tried and failed to help). It is unreal. Just unreal. And I know I don't have 5% the agony of others out there getting raped by the same negligent, greedy, lazy, indifferent industry. Are there any real Drs left? Can anyone give some GOOD news? I'm bankrupted, losing my career, my family, and each Dr I see is EXTREMELY wealthy. Is that the problem? They NEED to protect their lifestyle and can't be bothered with doing their sworn duty as a Dr? I'm getting very paranoid about the state of things here. And I weep for those like me and those way worse off than me getting this treatment or even worse treatment.

Jim,

First, I'm sorry for the nightmare you are living. I have similar experience. I am fortunate to only be dealing with a fraction of your pain. I have three lumbar discs fused (December) plus a spinal stim implant at the same time that isn't helping. The non-narcotic drugs they keep pushing don't help and usually make life miserable with side-effects.

You're story sounds wrong. Not from your side, but from that clinic's side. I've had about 8 U/A's done in the past 3 months now myself, past every one, but when I see the insurance report I see what the clinic has charged for each one. They are almost all over $1,000 each. I researched this and found that if I were to send a sample to the most expensive lab in the USA for the most detailed U/A (15 point) I would pay approx. $120.00 retail. It sounds like your clinic is possibly committing fraud, dumping the sample without letting you see the thermometer on the cup (BTW did you check the temp strip yourself before handing it over? I'd do that, I do and it usually is in the 97 to 95 degree range. The process demands it is between 90 to 100 degrees F).

Your clinic may be dumping the samples, claiming a "fail" and still charging your insurance the full cost of the drug panel at a huge markup. Each evaluation is more $ in their pocket. Do another diagnostic. DEMAND to observe the temp with the nurse (the process as written by the facilities actually say this reading MUST be observed with the patient present and shown the results). Also, contact your insurance company, ask what this clinic is charging for each "failed" drug panel due to incorrect temp. If they are charging any more than a tiny amount for the cost of the cup, and the nurses time, then they are defrauding the insurance company. Take control and file a complaint with your insurance company and VERY IMPORTANTLY... File a complaint with your State's Medical Review Board. Each state has it's own regulatory agency overseeing the medical community and those practicing in the state. You can print out a complaint form and file it. My State has one that you can file on the internet without having to bother with paper and mailing, etc.

You're State may have a different name for this agency, but it should be available if you google your State, and medical complaint, or medical review. If you can't find it, get a phone number for something that sounds close and call. They usually are willing to help direct you to the right agency.

The complaint in my state is 2 pages. 1 page is just listing your info and the Dr or Clinic's info. The 2nd page is a very brief summary of the complaint, and a place to list where, when , why, who. Also list any witnesses if possible.

The worst that can happen is the clinic or Dr. will get a notification (your name will not be disclosed by law), and they will have to take time away from their privileged life to justify the decisions and show proof to their regulatory agency that they did everything correctly. It is way more time consuming for them than you, and will put a scare into them regarding their business methods and medical decisions.

I've had to file 3 complaints in the last month for similar issues.

Also, The Dr. is required to treat your pain by law, not dismiss it. The new re-scheduling of most pain meds from schedule 4 to schedule 2 has put a scare into the Drs and their corporate overlords to the point of commanding the Drs to STOP ALL NARCOTIC MEDS. PERIOD. NO EXCEPTIONS.

The DEA issued a warning when the rescheduling was made in November of 2014 warning the medical community quote "This new law is not meant for doctors to begin under medicating those under their care. It is only a way of monitoring the way these medications are being dispensed in order to limit abuse." The warning from the DEA is 2 pages.

Page 1 outlines the new procedures (one month supply at a time, with the exception for those that may need more than a month, in which case up to 3 individual scripts may be written. These scripts may not be refilled until no more than 2 days before the previous script ends (so you can only refill after 28 days of a 30 day script). No script for narcotics may be called in or faxed to the pharmacy, they must be written by the Dr. and picked up by the patient or patient's advocate (Parent, wife, etc.).

Page 2 is all one long warning to medical professionals to NOT under medicate due to this new procedure and rescheduling of these medications. This warning is repeated FIVE TIMES on this page. It explains the new rules are to stop the very small amount of abusive practices that have led to overdoses and dealers getting massive supplies of oxycontins and dealing them at huge markup to those not under medical supervision.

The reason behind the law was only to keep the use of the narcotic painkillers under the supervision of a Doctor. Not a Dealer.

The Doctors, for the most part, are puppets in this fiasco. Their bosses (most doctors work for a hospital or managing group which is owned by a for-profit publicly traded company that owns countless other types of businesses). These corporate entities have actuaries and bean counters that are so far removed from the actual patient that you and I are merely a grain of sand on the world's largest beach. Worthless, except for the insurance payout we represent for the medical facility we visit. If we suffer then so what? whatever. Controlling our pain may stop us from getting more expensive procedures, taking more expensive and more dangerous drugs (the pharmaceutical giants have had a big influence here on your doctor's decisions). In short, your medical decisions are being made by an algorithm written by a mega corporation that has ZERO interest in you getting better. The goal is to keep you coming back more often, for more procedures, taking more untried and riskier meds that everyone but us makes more profit on.

Our only option is to make official complaints with regulatory agencies, watch our doctors and nurses and P.A.'s and support staff for unethical, negligent or illegal practices. It isn't much but if we all do it, it will be too much of a burden on the other side and we may start seeing some care back into the way things are being handled.

I'm losing hope myself. I've been out of work on disability for almost 6 months in the last year, which means immediate discontinuation of employment, including loss of medical benefits and I'll have to pay for many medical costs retroactively. I'm going through bankruptcy and am day to day. I still have not paid rent and will not be able to so now I'm going to be homeless in the near future. I've sold everything I own with any value. Just to feed an industry with an insatiable hunger for more wealth.

Greed is killing us off. We are the chickens that stop giving eggs that get taken out and ground up to be fed to the other chickens.

You work maintenance? Same here. 23 years as an electrician with two degrees. One Associates and one Bachelors. Skilled competent mechanic, exceptional electrician and automation technician. All thrown out because of that "bad back syndrome" that gets thousands thrown out every month.

"Bad back" is like having AIDS, Ebola, and 5 felonies on your record.

Only way to get a new job is luck and saying you are strong as an ox and never missed a day of work in your life. Wait 3, 6, 12 months for benefits to begin, and hope your Dr. isn't worthless so you can be productive (make eggs every day) for another 20 to 30 years so you can retire with just enough to survive for another 3-7 years before being broke again. All the time in extreme pain and never show it visibly or else you are fast tracked to the gate.

The industry is horribly broken. Profit is NOT the way to healthy, happy people. I lived in Canada, my sister lives in Germany. I have friends in England. These countries laugh at our protocols that kicks you out of the hospital 13 hours after major back surgery with no follow up support. Then treats you like a junkie looking for a "fix" when you go to whatever Dr. you are sent to by whoever. Our structure has two classes, those without relying on insurance and all our meager worth, and the upper class that can pay to bypass this whole joke we call treatment, and actually get the care they need because they can pay and get the respect that we all should get. Voting isn't the answer, all political parties are corrupted by money. We have no voice because money is the only thing that is heard in Washington and in our State Congresses.

File complaints until the Doctors are BURIED in them. Then file more until their backs break under the load.

Good luck everyone. Hope you find some compassion and competence somewhere. Only compassion I've found is a Psychiatrist and Psychologist who are both powerless, and do not have time enough to actually get me through this. They too have to see a patient every 3 to 10 minutes to remain in business.

If you all never hear from me again it is because I took that "other" route that must never be spoken of out loud (even though this is a "free" country"). I know a nice, beautiful place that is so remote I will never be found so no one will have to bother with any nasty disposal inconvenience. It is a gorgeous place that I would be happy to spend a day or two and end the agony my own way. I am a free man in a "free" country. I chose to be free, not restrained to this pain industry. I'll fight a little longer, hopefully get lucky. But the odds don't look good. Better odds of winning the Powerball at this point. Climbing K2 with one hand tied behind my back and naked looks less daunting than navigating this structure and being successful in getting any relief from the agony.

Also, The Spinal Stimulator Implants.... the numbers they give you when they sell it to you are FALSE. I did my own research through FDA sources and read all the research and trial results and the numbers are cherry picked. The chances of fatality or complete paralysis are more than 10 times the numbers published by the device makers and quoted by the doctor selling it to you.

The trials actually threw out half the results in most trials with NO explanation why. The results on the failures were shredded and or "lost". I was shocked at the risk involved and the lower than advertised success rates. My implant is useless, I get tingling in my feet and my lower ribcage, NO tingling/relief in my back. None. And the Doctor thinks I'm lying (my doctor does not communicate with the technicians or read their notes to him) and the device technicians programming the implant have given up trying to program it so it works. They say the only option is more surgery to move the leads attached to my spinal cord, resulting in much more risk, and 6-12 months recovery. Plus, no guarantee it will work.
