will noroton stop opiate withdrawl
Going thru bad withdrawl from opiates, someone said they have noroton & it will take away all symptoms. Can this be true? ## Hi dee, Sorry to hear about the bad withdrawals you've been experiencing. Did you mean to say "Neurontin" by chance? I haven't found anything by the name of noroton. Neurontin (Gabapentin) however, was originally developed for the treatment of epilepsy, but is currently widely used to relieve neuropathic pain. I cannot guarantee how effective it is for managing certain withdrawal symptoms (since it's not indicated for this purpose), but I'd imagine that results could vary for each individual and their particular set of symptoms. Was this person a doctor or credible source who told you that it works for all symptoms? I'm not doubting...

Sudden Withdrawal from Neurontin
I have been taking 600 mg of Neurontin 4x a day for about 2 years and recentlty ran out of this medication due to excrutiating slow service from mandatory mail order RX company.... I was extremely agitated during this time (approx. 5 days), nervous, stressed out, etc. Has anyone else had these symptons as a result of sudden withdrawal from Neurontin? I can't understand why this happened, I felt so scared and lousy for that time. Is this a known reaction for this med? I haven't been able to find an answer. I take it for relief from carpel tunnel syndrom. Thanks ## Almost any med, or substance, even you morning coffee, will cause some withdrawal symptoms when you have been used to having it in your body for awhile, and suddenly stop taking it. Did it ease when you finally started ...

starting neurontin withdrawal
I am to start my withdrawal from 2700mg of neurontin this week. I take three 300mg at morning, noon, and dinner. I had tried to go off it myself a few time, but guess I tried to do it too quickly, the pain was terrible. I have been on it for about five years for chronic pain and it doesn't work. I will go down one pill (300) every three weeks or so. I hope this will be slow enough to prevent withdrawal symptoms. Any thought on this would be appreciated. ## Hi, Wanda! How are things going? One warning I'd like to give you is that you do need to do this very slowly and carefully. Since Neurontin is actually an anticonvulsant, a rapid, sudden withdrawal actually creates the risk of suffering seizures. You've already experienced the rebound pain that can happen from doing it too...

unnecessary neurontin
Can someone tell me why someone would take Neurontin if they do not need it? My daughter is a drug abuser...I do not know why or how she got this med but she has no need for it but takes handfuls of these pills. or..when she has Xanax, she'll take those as well...what effects is she having from this? Apparently, she has an issue with downers so I'm just wondering...And what are the effects of her stopping these cold turkey? Is it possible to OD on these drugs as in just falling asleep? She also has been known to take liquid G as well on many occasions...wonderful combination. ## Hi, Nina! Sorry to hear about your daughter. If she's a drug abuser, then I believe you've already answered your own question about why she'd take something that she doesn't need. Neuront...

neurontin weight gain?!
okay im freaking out, im 19 around 110 pounds and im 5'3 im on prozac 20mg wellbutrin 300mg and busbar 30mg i just got prescribed neurontin 400mg for my mood disorder i have a huge obsession with weight and binge eating problems and finally the medication im on now controls my hunger and im so scared to gain weight i literally cant or i will freak out literally im just wondering if adding neurontin will make me gain weight im so nervous i wont take it if it does. ## Yes, there is a chance that it may cause you to gain some weight. Not everyone experiences such a side effect, so there's no way to know if it will happen to you, or not, but the possibility is there. Normally, I'd tell someone not to worry about it, but given your psychological state and the fact that the gain h...

Skin spots and darkening on Neurontin
After a couple of weeks on Neurontin, I started getting small red spots on my skin. Now I am getting larger spots, about a half inch in diameter. My skin is also getting darker with kind of a blue cast to it. Can't reach my doctor until Monday. Does anyone know how fast one can get off the drug without serious side effects? ## I too have red spots (splotches, really) on my arms after about a month on neurontin. Thanks, I really didn't know the cause. Also, it makes me terrifically fatigued. Now I am wondering if I should stay on, or go off. I take it for neuropathy in my hands, but so far, I see no improvement. ## Go to the ER ASAP. Some medications that cause rashes cause a condition called "Stevens-Johnson's". It's extremely dangerous. Go now! ## Stevens-Johnso...

neurontin withdrawls
I want to get off of neurotin I'm takig 300 mg 3x daily how long will it take? ## My father has been taking 300 mg of neurontin every morning for approximately 3 years for treatment of neuropathic pain in his feet. He was diagnosed with dementia at least two years ago and his confusion and psychosis has progressively worsened. A nurse friend of mine told me I should immediately take him off the drug since her pharmacist advised her to do the same with her father whose psychotic behavior became worse when he started neurontin. She reports a remarkable improvement after he was off the drug three days. Should I try this and what are the risks? ## For anyone still seeking this information, since this medication works on brain chemicals, because it is an anticonvulsant, it should be slow...

DILEMMA
i had to get off lithium from one day after 27 years because my kidneys were starting to get affected. i have now developed a tingling in my head so i did not start taking another medicine like daepakote for my bipolar. i saw a neurologist today and she told me to start taking neurontin because she feels it would take away this tingling but she said no side effects. i am seeing my psychiatrist Wed. so i am thinking of waiting to take it and check with her first. what does everyone thing? ## The first piece of advice I'd like to give you is to never let a doctor get away with telling you that any medication has no side effects. It is simply not true! They all carry the risk of causing side effects, even over the counter products. In her experience, it may not seem to cause problemati...

Need New Pain Dr In VA. Dismissed after 20 Years when my home was broken into and meds stolen.
My primary care physician took over my pain management from Duke University 20 years ago. I have a SCI and was in a wheelchair for 14 years but by the Grace of God have been walking since September of 2008. My medical situation is extensive and i have had two surgeries in the past seven months and in may I will have an anterior/posterior spinal fusion from C5 to my tail one and will be in the hospital and rehab unit for two months. I have been on Neurontin, Methadone, Dilaudid and Fentanyl patches for 20 years. I NEVER abused my meds or asked for extra meds. I actually took less than I was supposed to. My home was broken into January 9th while my boyfriend and I were at my mother's home. My next door neighbor is an ex cop and heard the break-in occur and called it in and came runnin...

Neurontin Made Me Feel Euphoric
I was introduced to neurontin by my boyfriend. He used it for recreation and said it made him feel chill. He would take 9 capsules so I only took 3 capsules of the 300mg capsules. It made me happy and giggley and I felt like I was floating. I didn't feel angry or as if I wanted to hurt someone as I normally feel daily. Why? ## Neurontin contains the active ingredient Gabapentin, which is actually an anticonvulsant, so it works on brain chemicals, this it can cause the effects you experienced in some people, which is why there are warnings that some people are more prone to abuse it. For this same reason, it is also sometimes used to treat mood disorders, such as bipolar disorder. Learn more: Are there any other questions or comments? ## Wow. That is quite a reaction for such a small...
