josh jones you are just another a$$hole from purdue pharma making your claims and accusations. HOW DARE YOU !!!! How in the hell do you know mine and the others medical history? People like you make me sicker than the OP's. Do you know I am in a wheel chair? do you know I am in the last stage's of MS? Advil huh? Yeah right. So we all need rehab huh? Well maybe some do..Not all of use abuse our pain meds. It does hurt me and others when I see the one's complaining that they cant shoot them or snort or smoke. They do need rehab and our the reason Oxycontin has such a bad name. I have been on these for years for my pain and I will tell you and your phucked up company you work for Purdue Pharma that your new little formula is not the same in anyway. Go preach your BS and labeling of others in your meetings when you and your cronies are out of a job. Because NO1 in there right mind will continue to buy this garbage. I am fortunate that my Doctor is aware of this problem and don't label his patients like you. How come he and the pharmacy have told me 70% of the people taking these for legit problems are all having the same issue's? How come There have been over 815,000 complaints filed with your company as of 1-21-11 with all the same symptoms. Dont worry you will turn to drugs when you loose your job. I dont blame your company for paying you a$$holes to come to these forums and say your nasty and BS comments to us to save your company. So when you or one of your family members have cancer,MS or just suffer from chronic pain from a auto or work accident and are in there last stages of life, Give them your phuckin Advil and refer them to rehab. I pray that your mother or father or children go though what 1/4 of these people on here go thew. People like you will get yours in the end. Why would you even come here to a site like this other than to stir up crap and label everyone on here a drug addict. Because you are all terrified of loosing your jobs period!!! Did you just wake up today and say? HUH lets see what they think of this new OP formula? How did you even find out about the change unless you work for them? No1 knows about this change unless you are prescribed them period or have a family member or friend which im sure you don't have any friends and your family has wrote you off . You work for them any we all know it. You have no clue about what your talking about you DICK !!

Hold on buudy I don't work I'm a college baseball player. And I don't think my forum was aimed at u but if u look it up ops have the same formula as ocs except one liitle chemical that doesn't have any effect to the pill just doesn't allow u to break them down. How dare u wish that on my kids when that wasn't even aimed at u. For ur information my son is one step away from pnemonia. I was on ur side dick. I was talking about the people who misuse the drug. If u don't misuse it then why did u get so upset. I'm sorry for what your going through. I'm pretty sure I have no idea to what your going through and I can't relate to the struggle and long path of pain and sickness that you have endured, and instead of wishing something like that on your family. I will keep you in my prayers, but my forum wasn't aimed at the people who really need them just the misusers. So u had no right to wish that on my family. I thought when u go through something like what you are going through it matures you, cause u know what it feels like and would not dare wisn that on anyone. And ocs are still on the market and if you can't get them you can still get the generic version oxycodone hydrochloride. They have roxycodone and oxycodone hydrochloride extended release basically the same thing. And I've watched my grandma kill herself on them things. And I just witnessed two months ago my wifes dad abuse roxys and he passed. How dare you wish that on my family, especially coming from someone who has suffered through it. You know how rough it is and for you to wish that on a baby or anyone is just outright wrong and it takes one evil person to go through that then wish it on another for no reason. For everyone out there suffering through a sickness or with a family member going through a deadly disease or sickness I will pray for you and Godbless.

II've had 8 knee surgeries and have been taking OC 40's+ 15 mg oxycodone for break through. When they switched to the OP, it stopped working. The time it takes to get into my system is inconsistent and sometimes doesn't work at all. When it does help a little, it breaks down more quickly and I have to take a lot more. I called Purdue and they acted unconcerned, said it should work the same and to give it a chance. Almost 3 months of it and I can tell you that it is a failure. Pain is back all the time & I have lost much of my ability to be productive. The legitimate patients who depend on this medicine are being punished. The drug addicts will just find another substance to "play" with. It doesn't change a thing for them.

I keep hearing the same thing over and over again. The conclusion that I've come to is that they have weakened it somehow so that more has to be prescribed (which docs are scared to do anyway). Although lab tests would show that the "formulation" is the same or whatever. I'll bet you that somehow our bodies are metabolizing them faster and therefore are more addictive!

I've been reading thru similar posts and it always gets me how so many people talk about "drug addicts ruining it for us folks in real pain". First of all, if you've been taking opiates in any quantity for an extended period guess what? YOU are addicted. Oh, call it "tolerance" if it makes you feel better. It's just funny how people rush to make sure and let people know THEY aren't one of the "bad guys". Well newsflash: one of the effects of opiates is euphoria. I've taken about every kind of pain killer that exists for legitimate medical reasons and I freely admit: I LIKE HOW IT MAKES ME FEEL. SO?? You people are such narcoparanoiacs. Can't you see that the "druggies" aren't what's "ruining things" its the goverment?! Read Dr. Ronald Siegel's book "Intoxication" or some such similar works and educate yourself! The US was founded by anal retentive puritans who are AFRAID of pleasure. Since I'm honest about liking the side effects, that makes me a "druggie"?? Come on! Get out of my body chemistry! It's none of the government (or your) business what I take and how DARE some of you that gripe about your pain only to start throwing stones at other people for the reasoning behind why they take substance X! Mind your business and maybe one day the gov will mind theirs.

First off I wanted to say hi to everyone out there. Secondly has the post even been answered? OC vs. OP what is the difference? Well if it has not been answered and for all of you tuning in just now, the difference is the manufacturer. Oxycontin OP made by perdue (on the bottle) and perdue pharma is the actual name. Oxycontin OC was also made by the perdue pharma group. The difference is the formula in which the pill is put together. The generic for Oxycontin (Roxicodone, M-oxy, ETH-Oxydose, Oxyfast, OxyIR) is OXYCODONE.

I have also been on chronic opiates for a slew of medical problem all stemming from being severely immune suppressed. Not AIDS, although it may as well be AIDS at least they have some legitimate treatments. I read a lot of people are having issues with the OP makeup of the pill. My question to ya’ll is why not switch to something different then? I was on 120mg OC then it was changed to OP and yes it was far less effective and was changed to 3 pills a day and my 15mg IR was increased to 1-2 pills every 4 hours from only having to take 1 pill every 8. I live in Connecticut, probably one of the more stricter states, and it was hard for them to increase my dosage that high. I was hospitalized about 5 months later (third hospitalization since the switch to OP) and it was that hospitalization the doctors and Yale University Hospital switched me over to Fentanyl patches. I was on 250mcg/hr (three patches total) every 72 hours. This worked better then all that pain meds I was taking. Obviously the Oxy OP was no longer needed and the Oxycodone IR was decreased in frequency as well. So why don’t others switch? For one it is harder for docs to switch someone because yes they are bullied by the DEA, FDA, and their state boards to stop accepting pain patients never mind them having to switch some ones pain med.

The whole thing sucks and I wished it was never switched from OC to OP. I would not have even had to go through all this. Thanks for reading and God Bless.

I have been on oc for almost 6 years. 40 mg. and percocett for break through pain. Since they switched I have been so depressed. My pain is more than I can bare. The new stuff does not work for very long. It doesn't seem like it is staying in my system. I have had a double knee replacement, double fusion decompression 4 thru 7, bilateral carpal tunnel, severe DDD and DJD with claw bone spurs on my spine. I don't know what to do. The OP is not working for me at all and I feel my cries are going unheard. The OC was working so great that it was taking care of all my pain. Now I feel how bad my arthitis is. My hips hurt now and I couldnt sit in church because my spine hurt so bad. REALITY BITES! Shame on the ones who have ruined it for us who truly need it. I pray for all those out there who is going through the same ordeal.
PRAYING FOR ANSWERS!

JUST REMEMBER THEY DID THE SAME THING TO TOBACCO SMOKERS BECAUSE OF THE DRUG "NICOTINE". THEY DIDN'T STAND UP FOR THEIR RIGHTS EITHER, NOW LOOK AT THEM. THE GOVERNMENT HAS BEEN INFILTRATING OUR LIVES LIKE HITLER INFILTRATED THE LIVES OF THE GERMAN PEOPLE, SO FAST AND FIERCE THEY DIDNT KNOW WHAT HIT THEM TIL IT WAS TO LATE. THINK IM KIDDING.. IT MAY SOUND PETTY TO YOU BUT THEY HAVE BEEN DOING IT FOR YEARS UNDER THE GUISE OF "FOR OUR HEALTH /INSURANCE SAKE FOR YEARS. KIDS MILK CHANGED FROM WHOLE TO 2%MILK.. MacDonald's COOKING OIL, LAYS POTATO CHIPS (OIL) AND NOW WE HAVE THE "GOVERNMENT" TRYING TO TELL US HOE BIG OUR CUP OR CONTAINER OF SODA SHOULD BE. BECAUSE OF OBESITY? OH PLEASE.. HOW MANY DIFFERENT REASONS ARE THEY GOING TO KEEP SHOVING DOWN OUR THROATS FOR OBESITY. OH BY THE WAY.. DIDN'T THEY PASS A LAW SEVERAL YEARS BACK ABOUT ADVERTISING ALCOHOL ON T.V?? THEY'RE BAAAACK, OR DID THEY EVER LEAVE? MAYBE M.A.D.D JUST FIZZLED AND GAVE UP. I HAVE PERSONALLY WRITTEN TO EVERYONE I COULD POSSIBLY THINK OF, TO CHANGE
THE FORMULATIONS OF OXYCONTIN AND OPANA BACK TO THEIR ORIGINAL FORMULATION. I SUGGESTS THAT YOU DO THE SAME. THE WHEEL THAT SQUEEKS THE LOUDEST GETS THE OIL. JUST ASK THE NON SMOKERS
MAYBE THEY CAN TELL YOU HOW LOUD TO SQUEAL!!!

Some people should do more research before they act like they know what there talking about. Op and Oc is the same drug and does have the same formula. But they added a chemical does not allow one to snort or inject it. This chemical also does not let but about 1/3 of the actual drug to breakdown in your system. The rest just passes through your stool. I for one don't take meds of no kind. Have no need.

How the hell did you even get into a pre-med program when your spelling is atrocious?

Yes, it is supposed to be the same, time released Oxycodone, however there have been many complaints that it causes odd side effects and doesn't work as well.

Side effects should be the same: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth.

If you have tried it, please post back with your experience.

Well sorry about your son.. I dont see any comments from anyone on this page that mentioned abusing drugs. They are patients and people explaining the negative effects they are having with the new formula. Your comment should have been placed where they are talking about abusing the drug. How to cook it, how to snort or shoot it up. NO ONE said anything on this here page about doing that. There are several posts on this on the Oxycontin forum page. I am fine. I need NO sympathy from you or anyone like yourself. You said you people and that is me and everyone on this page. I am sorry for the comment I made on your children and family. I said that out of anger.I feel for your son. NO ONE should go though pain or be sick when there was a drug that totally change peoples live's for the better. And I mean that by saying if you are in a bed all day or just sick or in a wheel chair like myself. By taking a drug that will enable that person to get up or go outdoors or do something that puts a smile on there face. I to am sorry but I took your comment very personal. Dont know what you do but there are so many people from purdue pharma that come on these forums and call us all drug addicts and what ever and say we are full of crap.Or label us as "YOU PEOPLE" There really is a problem with the new formula. I can testify to that along with 815,000 other's that have complained. Maybe you people should write in the correct forum page next time :) Good Luck Josh Jones

Well in my case I have tried most all of the pain meds from fentanyl patch's, Morphine,MS Contin , Vicodines,Loretabs,Methadone,Hydrocodone,Hydromorphone, Dilaudid, and even Spinal injections. You name it. Most of these drugs all made me feel way out of it or didnt work for my pain. I had no quality of life with all these other drugs. They made me feel all high and just all messed up. I am 67 and I dont want to feel all out of it, like some of the abuser do. I dont take mine for a buzz and the old oxy's were the only drug that really worked for me. I even have got off the pain meds a few times to see if I could do without them. I really tried the best I could but could not take the pain I was in. Most of these drug I listed also had terrible side effects. I am one that would say hey these new OP pills are the same and work the same if the did. But they really don't. And I truly am being honest when I say this. Most Doctors these days have to monitor all patients with opiate contracts where they have to only use there office for opiates and only 1 pharmacy. These contracts also state that you have to bring your pills in any day of the week for a pill count and do a drug test to test your opiate levels in your blood plasma. I think these contracts are GREAT and I personally have never ever been short or failed my blood work for opiate levels. Because I dont abuse or sell mine. I used to take them as needed. I was also given break through pain meds. I wouldnt even take these half the time because I didnt need them. A 30 day supply would last me up to 60 to 80 days sometimes. I think most doctors these days do make there patients sign these contracts with them due to the abuse and bad name that this drug Oxycontin has. I was amazed when my pain doctor pulled up the States and DEA history charts of the drugs prescribed to me. It had the time, date, quantity everything on this chart. A 30 day script is 30 days..Not 28 or 29. The insurance company's will not fill your scripts early. They wont even fill them if you pay for them in cash. It is the law. I think that is a great tool they have at there disposal. Some regular doctors DONT even prescribe Oxycontin because of there medical insurance issues. My family doctor refers all his patients to pain doctors or pain clinics ect. I no longer take Oxycontin because of the effects of the new formula. I am done with them and I hope the one's that are having the same side effects are able to find a replacement or some type of alternative for these new pills. 70% is a really high percentage and the other 30% are afraid to bring the issue's up with there Doctors because they are afraid of the repercussions that may follow. They will keep there mouths shut because of fear. Well not me. I am very out spoken and a honest person.

I have been taking oxycontin 40 mg x 4 a day for a broken neck & broken back for the last 5 years.C-3,C-4,C-5 & T-11 were crushed in a work accident that left me with constant pain in my neck, back & left hand & arm. There was about 6 months where I tried the fentynal patchs which gave me too much medicine when I was active.I got dizzy & sick.Because they released too much medicine when I exercised .So I went back to the oxycontin.About 6 months ago they changed it to the op.My pain level has increased with the op.It doesn't bring my pain level down as much as the oc use to bring it down.I also take morphine sulphate 30 mg. x 3 as needed for break through pain. The morphine doesn't work as well because I can't get enough relief from the op.My Dr. also say's that op & oc are the same .I beg to differ.I can't do nearly as much as I could when taking the oc.I spend most of my day & night on massagers, heating pad & ice packs. This is not managing my pain.I'm looking for answers & relief.....,what can I do????????My prayers are with all of you who have to take the op,because my pain is worse,I believe you ,when you say you aren't getting relief from pain on your op.If my pain Dr. comes up with something that works better for my besides an increase in mg. I will share it with you all.If it weren't for the drug abusers we wouldn't be in this fix.Another way the drug abusers have hurt us is-I was out of state over Christmas when it was time for a refill.I had to have my daughter fill my prescription & over night it to me.You would think there would be a better/easier way.God bless you all with relief from your pain. For those who think all of us who have to take oxycontin are drug abusers ,I wish you could share our pain for a few days..

I beleive Purdue is showing much contempt and irresponsibility for human life. As well as criminal behavior. The flu like symptoms has a name..teflon flu. This is a flu worker's in teflon factories get. After breathing in the fumes or exposing skin to teflon..they come down with chill's and flulike feelings. And we are ingesting this atrocity. Also there is a report from fda concerning prooxyphene..this can cause severe toxcity to one's heart. Your indifference and criminal behavior Purdue in unleashing a dangerous drug to an already suffering and weakened public is evil.
