I Have Been Taking Hydrocodone 10 And My Doctor Just Changed Me To Acetaminophen Codeine 3 (Page 4)

Updated

I have been taking Hydrocodone 10 since March for RSD the doctor changed me this week to Acetaminophen/cod3. The doctor said that the law made it where he can not give the hydrocodone any more. I want to know if they are the same? I was told they are the same. I'm scared to take it because I have sleep apnea and a real sensitivity to codone. I get breathing problems and rashes. Not sure what to do at this point. I can not take most opioid drugs.

I thought I "slipped the text" on my mind, since I read so quickly. That's really nuts. Soma's basically an orphan drug, or a Federal District Court could resolve the issue via Court Orders of several types.

DrJoey, well Louisiana is a crazy state and not in a good way. If you get a rx from an out of state Dr for a Schedule II and the Dr doesn't have a license to practice medicine in Louisiana, you can only get. 10 day supply, can't get another rx filled from the same Dr for the same med for 90 days and the pharmacist calls the Dr and explains this to them.

That's why my sister graduated from Tulane, but REFUSED to go to Tulane Law. According to her, the law is even crazier.

Read the oath carefully, meditate on it awhile. What's your take on do no harm and just how ethical is a liar? Just be honest and tell it like it is. The patient has final say to stay or go. But to demean a fine institution as medicine with taking the easy way out by selling out your integrity credibility and ultimately answering for it all to God, well let's just say those shoes don't fit!

Actually, my fingers were ahead of my brain. The actual first line of the Hippocratic Oath is PRIMUM NON NOCERE, which translates to "First, do no harm."

What if the doctor is wrong? The baby might live. Too many miracles happen to defy science to abort a baby (that you want) because it "might" not live.

Codeine by itself does nothing. It must be metabolized by the liver, which turns it into morphine. All drugs which are classified as opioid essentially either behave as morphine (opium) or are metabolized by the body to behave that way. All compounds in this class will cause some degree of "itchiness," but most people become used to this over time. If it's not severe a little benadryl usually controls it. Severe reactions like hives need to be reported to your physician. Oddly, some ppl.who don't do well with hydrocodone do fine with demerol, etc., and vice versa. Everyone is different. The main problem is the high levels of acetaminophen (Tylenol) you are ingesting, which does nothing for inflammation. Other compounds are available, such as hydrocodone with ibuprofen, and in different dosages. Again, something to discuss with your physician, if you're concerned about destroying your liver with all that nasty Tylenol and would rather use something more effective for pain, but does need to be taken with food and plenty of water.

BL......yes, it's in the Hippocratic oath...you can't lie to your patients. What would make you say that?

Jan, please post the link to that version of the oath. People need to realize that the Hippocratic Oath is not the same as an oath that you take in court not to lie.

Jan, you have to be realistic. You won't find a place where drs or any other profession are 100% honest 100% of the time.

I would like to know if there are any complaints about the Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen 10-325 Mfr; caraco pharm. This is a white, oval-shaped tablet, imprinted with 176 on the front. Blank on the other side. These pills are making me sick, I have cotton mouth with a real bad taste, my stomach is killing me. I have a ringing in my ears, and I'm still in pain! Am I the only one who feels like like these pills are s***?

It's Bulls***. I need more pain killers! I had the pleasure of going to pain management where they don't believe in meds for pain. Oxymoron!

Hell no they're not the same...Hydrocodone is in Vicodin...Sounds like your Dr changed you to codeine, which is a much weaker opioid... Call the drug & poison center in your area, they'll answer any question you have & it's confidential...They won't even ask your name!

John, Poison Control Centers do have your phone number. If you call and block your phine number, they still have it.

Maxundergroundchem I find it hard to believe you have a degree in anything with your atrocious grammar. Maybe you should go back to grade school and learn how to spell. It's hard to take someone serious when they dont know how to use their, there, and they're correctly.
