Verwon Says:
If you are referring to worrying about a drug test, then there is no need, Lyrica is NOT an opiate narcotic and is not tested for on these types of tests.

If you are asking due to side effects or some type of reaction, it can vary depending on how long you have been taking it and how much, but usually the drug will be clear from your body in 48 to 72 hours.

Lyrica, which contains the active ingredient Pregabaline, is an anticonvulstant that has also been proven effective at treating certain types of nerve pain.

Is there anything else I can help you with?

okay first of all what you are saying is completely wrong. Lyrica does NOT stay in your body for 72 hours, its stays for much longer. My advice for u is get as far away as possible from dis medication. its very addictive and have really annoying side affects. for example, wen u get off it u cant sleep, ur always depressed and at some point u might get suicidal. ive been off it for more than 2 months now and i still cant sleep. I writing you this msg now while being awake for more than 34 hours. if i do get sleep, its usually for 3 hours max. stay away..

I have been taking 150mg of Lyrica at dinner time for three years now. I decided to go off of the drug because of side effects. I stopped taking Lyrica 5 days ago and am still experiencing anxiety. How long should I expect this anxiety to last for?

Did you just stop taking it or did you gradually reduce the amount over several days? It's very important with this medication that you wean yourself off to help avoid withdrawal symptoms....
" Do not stop taking pregabalin without talking to your doctor, even if you experience side effects such as unusual changes in behavior or mood. If you suddenly stop taking pregabalin, you may experience withdrawal symptoms, including trouble falling asleep or staying asleep, nausea, diarrhea, headaches, or seizures. Your doctor will probably decrease your dose gradually over at least one week."
I was on lyrica for fibromyalgia and it did help tremendously, and I was able to get the best sleep I have had in probably 20 years! (was on the highest dose dr would prescribe of flexeril for a few years before i started taking the helped some but would fall asleep, wake up a few hours later and then not sleep good from that point on)
I was only on lyrica for a few months the first time, but it made me feel very displaced emotionally so told dr I wanted off, at which point he instructed how I was to take it over the next several days, stepping down instead of abruptly stopping it. No side effects, just the usual fibro bs and I started feeling human again emotionally wise.
Tried cymbalta, didn't seem to do anything. I weighed my pros and cons and decided feeling displaced was a better option than crappy sleep, restless leg, exhaustion, fatigue and pain so started back on lyrica, taking a lower dose. Been on it longer this time and not experiencing any emotional side effects, but last few weeks, been having swelling issues, mostly in hands, arms, legs and feet. Lowered dose to only 150mg once a day instead of twice a day and swelling is better...(been remodeling a room last 4 1/2 weeks, so body and especially hands have been overworked and abused...I imagine that has played a part in the swelling. Apparently working 24 hrs straight is not a good idea for people with fibromyalgia, retarded move on my part and I knew stupidity has caused 3 flare-ups since taking on this project, and I think that is around the time the swelling started, but I know the lyrica is involved as well.)
Anyway, I would suggest talking with your doctor about your withdraw symptoms, maybe starting the meds again for a little while and then gradually reducing over a week would help avoid withdraw, or over a longer period if you did gradually reduce when you stopped taking them. Idk, not a doctor or medical professional, but it make sense to me. Just an idea of something to throw out at your doctor if you see him/her about your withdraw symptoms. I hope you are doing better!!

Btw, for anyone who is reading one has been very specific about their side effects from the medication, withdraw symptoms (except for the one who posted about not sleeping), or even their condition for which lyrica was prescribed. I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia for over 8 years now and I am still finding out symptoms caused from it that I didn't realize were symptoms...things that I thought were normal because I've experienced them for so long that I don't remember being any different. It also took me quite a while to figure out that the emotional displacement I was experiencing was a side effect of the lyrica (not a side effect that is listed on all pharmaceutical informational websites) so, I find it helpful when reading forums if people are more specific..,just saying. ;-) And with that said, can anyone tell me if they have had any adema problems from the lyrica and what, if anything, you have found that helps relieve it?

I've been on lyrica since 2007 and i'm on 75 MG right now. I take 1 pill at 10 PM every night. I just increased from 50 to 75 2 months ago because it seemed like it was the best thing to do because I had 1 really bad one at that time. since I've been on 75, I had one last month *a big one* it took a few days to regain strength because after it occurs I have a huge headache and during the big seizure I hear like loud drums in my ears, it's really really bad. This last week, I can feel like one is going to come on in my head but then has just went away, well just 2 days ago, the *little small ones* which feel like there going to lead into big ones came on and I had 11 of them in 1 single day and they only last for about a minute, I got a sort of a strain *headache* after the 10th one that following night, but other then that i've been okay except for my left hand is tingling right now. one of the reasons why I take Lyrica is because I experienced bad nerve pain for 2 1/2 weeks straight 4 1/2 years ago 24/7, I could not sleep, my left arm and left ribcage felt like it was being attacked by sharp knives. that's when the doctor prescribed lyrica for fibromyalga and seizures. this all connects to an accident I had when I was 2 years of age which I experienced brain damage when I pulled a grandfather clock on top of my head because it was top heavy.

I gave my son the wrong amount of lyrica about 3 times over the past 2 weeks (normal is 50mg day and 50mg at night. I gave him all of it in the morning and he took none at night. He is 35 and has partial onset at sleep and he is feeling anxious, nervous, and foggy. Will this still take 72 hours for him to stabilize?

I was on Lyrica for about three years for sciatica pain. I had the usual side effects such as blurry vision, huge appetite, poor concentration and altered short term memory. I slowly decreased my dose over a three month time scale. I have been completely off for three weeks. The lower my dose the worse my depression. Has anyone experienced this and how long before my mood improves. I am feeling so discouraged. Thanks for any info.

Yes i ha e edema everywhere.. i can feel my face swelling mainly under my eyes and my lips. I am also extremely irritable, angry, and mouthy. Zero sex drive. Loss of appetite BUT gaining weight. Very spaced out cant consentrate. Tired all the time. Tremors in my hands. I stopped taking mine (50mg a day) 3 days ago and i am anxious to get
my life back. Forgot to mention I have juvenile rhumatoid arthritis and fibromialgia. I take a whole host of meds but when i started lyrica all of the above began... the end for me was a few days ago when my 9 yr old son carefully said to me "mom have you noticed how lately youve been very angry" .my husband had been complaining for wks tht I had an attitude everytime he ssaid anything and tht i was exremely impatient.. which of course infuriated me. So when my son said something a light came on and as I think back over the 2 mo Ive been on it I can clearly see just how for lack of a more fitting psychotic Id become. So good riddence lyrica... now hurry and GET OUT OF MY SYSTEM!

I was given Lyrica August 2011 for severe headaches due to nerve damage when I had a maxillectomy for cancer. It lessened the headaches instantly and over the next months they increased me from 75 mg to 150 mg 3 times a day. Way to much. Caused what I called my left eye to wig out on me. Just go blurry all of a sudden. Increased appetite is putting it mildly. Made me ravenous. Loss of short term memory. I had been increased to 5 75mg a day and finally I had enough of the side effects. I started taking 4 a day for a week and then 3 for a week then two and then one for a week. I just stopped completly yesterday. This is my second day without anything. When I went back to Dr first week of April he lowered it for me to 50 mg twice a day. So after that for a week is when i went down to one. I really haven't noticed any withdrawal symptoms doing it slowly like that. The headaches haven't come back and the nerve pain in my face is minimal and i'd rather have that than the disoriented feeling and loss of memory and yes i'm vain enough not to have liked that 40lbs I gained. Now if I started having those horrendous headaches nonstop again I wouldn't hesitate to get back on it because it did work for me. But if I don't need it, I don't want it. It's always a good idea to talk to your Dr first. I was lucky I didn't have any problems. I told him after the fact i was down to two a day instead of the prescribed 5. They don't want to over medicate us so we have to tell them if it's not working for us for them to be able to help. Don't just stop cold turkey form what i've researched it can throw you into a tail spin. Take care and God bless

I have been taking Lyrica for twelve months following the removal of a soft tissue sarcoma. After surgery I was left with some nerve damage and this is what I was prescribed this medication for. I recently stopped taking this medication, not out of choice but forgot to re stock before the bank holiday. well I have felt violently sick for the past three days. one minute hot and another freezing. I have hardly eaten anything since Friday, but thats not a bad thing as I have gained three stone since starting this tablet. I would not recommend this way, take the good advice here and do this gradually. the pain I experience in my leg seems a small price to pay compared to what I have just been through. each experience will be different but this tablet it not for me.

I totally agree. You can read posts on my Lyrica recovery process here:

I am 76 days off Lyrica today, still do not sleep, but depression has lifted somewhat the past week and I can have conversations again.

Thanks for your post.
