A friend of mine took this for about 18 years and it really helped her. Another friend of hers who also took the drug had a brother who was a doctor who did have the drug analyzed and said they found no steroids in it. Don’t know what else they found but he was mainly checking for steroid information.

Re: Vegran (# 33) Expand Referenced Message
My in laws took this “medicine” for over 20 years for arthritis and swore that it had no steroids in it. I have a health care background and was very skeptical. My mother in law already had the moon face and back hump but they were adults and refused to go off it. My father in law developed several bleeding ulcers, diabetes, and adrenal insufficiency while taking this. He was having surgery and the hospital would not let him take this pill that they had no idea what was in it so he went off it and in a few days almost died because of adrenal insufficiency. His adrenal glands had completely shut down from taking high dose steroids for years. He was very angry that he had been lied to for so long and he had to go on prednisone to make up for his dead adrenals. He also developed severe osteoporosis (as did my mother in law). She also developed horrible bone and joint problems from being on high dose steroids for years. Steroids reduce inflammation and make you feel better but the long term ramifications are awful

I have been on different kinds of US medicine for the asthma and for 4 years now I am yet to find a drug that will give me quality of air. I went back on Old Mexico this last December 2017 and to date (March 7, 2018 have not had one lung infection) The last 4 years I have battled lung infections for 4 months every winter back to back. I have had muliple cuts on my legs and very slow to heal. Today 7 stitches in my leg from falling off a stool. I am going to seek out U S doctor again to see what we can figure out. My adrenial glands are shot, and I am wandering if this is the reason.

these pills we get from mexico are not with steroids. they have been checked and re dhecked for me since 1987 and no steroids are found nor anything that can hurrt you unless you are alergic to sulfa drugs....anyone that has a good dr. will tell you the only reason we cant get them in usa is because it would put too many drs. outta business at least it would hurt them. my dr. i saw for 25 yrs told me stay on them they work for you. he has since retired and is a doctor without boarders wonderful honest man and he said there isnt anything in there that will hurt you my dear!

I disagree with you. I took the drug for 12 years. I also work at a university, has it analyzed and it contained NO STEROIDS. I knew it didn't contain steroids prior to having it analyzed because my tongue swells whenever i take an oral steroid.

Sorry wished to edit comment #24 to state this instead (as that comment was misleading):

Ambofiline/ambophyllina may be concerning for steroid content based on some literature information. If you suspect or have concern if this product has steroid effects you should let your family doctor or hospital doctor know (and also let them know you are on a foreign medication product). I have no knowledge of Carrillo clinic in Mexico therefore not appropriate to state anything postive or negative about it.

Carrillo clinic and their "ambophyllina" or "ambofiline" products are potentially dangerous if your family doctor or doctor on hospital admission is unaware you are taking a steroid drug. If you are taking this product or know of someone who is.....it is imperative that they let their physicians know - and bring a copy of the article posted above. If you are on a steroid long term and it is stopped suddenly - serious complications can arise. Systemic steroids also have a myriad of long term side effects that you and doctor should have informed discussion about.

My mother in law just got off this medicine as she was having all the symptoms of Cushings Syndrome. She is now on Theophylline and Pulmicort and doing awesome. Steroids do bad things to your body and are only doing more harm than good. The steroids pull calcium from your bones that is probably why they are hurting. Have you tried a calcium supplement. Good luck to all of you that have been on them for years.

My daughter-in-law is a RN and went on a mission to find out the truth of this medicine from Old Mexico called Ambophyllin. She paid to go on a medical site and found there were 5 test done on this medicine and it is a steriod. It is Kenalog. I had a wonderful life for several years while I was on this medicine and this last year I developed Cushing Disease which is the Moon face, Buffalo hump, Easy bruising, slow to heal, immune system shot, weakness in my limbs, weight gain. I chose to have my Dr. help wean me off of the sterriod as I had started pulling muscles(one of the side effects) and halfing to do physical therapy and I just felt like I was going down hill real fast. Since I have gotten weaned off I am on a Pulmicort inhaler and theophylline(200mg) twice a day. So far I have had no trouble at all with my breathing.(1 month so far) On the other hand I don't know if it is side effects or what but my ankles are swelling every day, my knuckles have started to swell, my bones in my body just hurt, my strength is almost not there and there are days I just struggle to get thru the day. ( I run a semi full time and clean rentals for my dad so I am not one that just can sit around. ) I am doing some detoxing thru the feet and that seems to help the swelling in the ankles. I hope i just need to detox my body and I will be back to my old self. I am trying to find out if anybody has had similair problems and if there is something else I could do to help my body not hurt and be so stiff. Please Help

I have been on Old Mexico medicine for 9 years and as soon as I started taking this asthma medicine(AMBOPHYLLINA 400 mg twice a day and MALEATO DE CLORFENAMINA 12 MG twice a day I noticed a difference. My plugged nose cleared up thru a sand storm on the way home to Colorado. Within a few days my husband would check to make sure I was alive at night when we were in bed as the medicine helped my breathing so much. In the beginning the medicine was wonderful. My breathing was awesome. Not to long after I was on it my skin starting thinning, I was bruising easy and my skin was slow to heal. I have terrible scars on my arms and below my knee from getting cut buildings fence or just running in to the corner of a feeder in the barn. The 9 years I have been on it multiple doctors say I have the moon face, developed what they call a buffalo hump on the back of my neck, continual bruising, skin tearing, have developed pressure behind my eyes, fatigue, really slow to heal, and immune system shot. Alot of these symptons are now considered, cushings disease. I recently had a cut on my leg, had 9 stiches. They had whip stitched the stiches because of my thin and 6 stiches still pulled thru.10 weeks later I still have a small hole in my leg and probably 8 more weeks of healing. Where the 3 stiches stayed in place it was healed in 10 days. I am trying to find out if there are steriods in the Ambophyllina that is causing this. I know this is not me. I am not saying the medicine isn't good, I am just saying it seem to be taking a tole on my personal body. I had a pulled calf muscle about 8 weeks ago just from walking and my Physical Therapist said I must be taking massive amount of steriods and the pulled calf muscle is just the start and expect alot more of this if I stay on them. I have went to my local doctor and he has put me on theophyllin and a Pulmacort. I start tomorrow and I am going to try a slowing wean myself off of the Old Mexico asthma medicine. My skin looks like a 90 years old women. I believe I am on steriods I just can't find proof anywhere I have researched. Please help******************

My mother in law is currently taking ambophyllina from mexico. I am trying to convince her doctor that it has triamcinolone in it. Can you tell me where to go so I can print off something to confirm this information for her? Thanks Lucy

My wife has taken the product named Ambophyllina for allergies, but was given Allerdryl in Mexico by a different doctor for an allergic reaction to a insect bite and she had no Ambophyllina with her - It helped and had same shape, & markings(in Mexico), & when looked up on line, side effects of Allerdryl. Also known as Benadryl (Generic name Diphenhydramine). If you try these alternatives -please provide your opinion as to if this is the same drug.
