I need some advice. I started taking Suboxone films last November. I am on 20 mg. a day. Ever since I started these films I noticed that underneath my tongue became sore, like it swelled up and had little bumps underneath. Per my pharmacist, I tried putting it in between my cheek and gum on the bottom, but the same thing happened. It's getting to the point that if I eat anything hot or spicy, it stings like crazy. Even the suboxone stings a little. I don't want to get my whole mouth sore, so I am keeping it underneath the tongue. In the morning my tongue is swelled and it's difficult to talk right, especially saying "s". I told my doctor when it first started happening, but he didn't think much of it. Anyone else have this problem? What should I do?

I am currently dealing with this super uncomfortable under the tongue pain too! It’s red and swollen and there’s a bump in the middle. I have a hard time eating and it hurts to move my tongue. My dr recently (yesterday) switched me to submitted but the pill seemed to make that side more sore. Idk what to do!

Hello, yes my partner had exactly the same problem. His tongue started to get red and he had trouble also eating his much loved spiced foods.
He was treated for thrush wrongly before they worked out it was subutext. Eventually it started a white blister on his tongue and the rest was extremely inflamed red. So this definitely is an issue. Unfortunately he has no cure for it or stop it from happening.

Happens to me as well. The two tiny "loose things" sublingual ducts, swell up and get a white skin/film around them.
You should be able to get a prior authorization for tablets. I did, because it is an allergic reaction.
If you need to take them do it between the front bottom lip and gums, but fold it in half, as the edges seem to burn like a cut.

There is a new way to replace Subutex and Suboxone it's called Sublocade. It's basically plain buprenorphine placed under the skin on ur stomach, it releases ur bup slow and last 30days in which u get the injection again and most insurance pay for this. It prevents mouth issues and takes all the hassle away.

This sounds like yeast in the mouth. In babies it's called thrush. U need a one time dose pill called diflucan. Bup usually affects the end of the tongue and jaw an under the tongue. It's possible the med started the problem or aggravated the yeast making it more raw. Rinse ur mouth with Pepto bismol an spit (don't swallow). Just gargle it an see ur Dr for the yeast diagnosis and treatment. hope I helped you dear good luck!

I would probably use crackers to absorb some of ur saliva and a neat little trick I learned was take a lemon squeezer a few drops in ur mouth this stimulates the full production of salivary glands after that put in ur Suboxone or tec in cheek or under the tongue ?? because lots of spit causes u to swollow more than u realize. U probably will develop hypertension "high blood pressure" I'd probably have ur Dr keep close eyes on the BP so if headaches a cure and u decided to stay on Suboxone get BP pills from ur Dr ASAP! I'm 50yrs old it almost killed me hope this doesn't happen to u but another drug is methadone u might wanna consider it but be careful it's dangerous if misused.

U are right my Dr told me the same thing it is a rare but never the less definitely allergic! I'd probably tell her switch to methadone or as I did my Dr put me on Subutex.

I have the very same issues I've dealt yrs with this, I was put on Suboxone when it first came out an I can tell u ketchup feels like acid!! It was after the first clinic closed an I was sent to a new clinic that the new Dr said I am allergic an this Dr is now trying to get my insurance to pay for Subutex it doesn't contain orange dye for one but it turns out I'm allergic to noxalon in Suboxone in the end films, orange pill,white pill all did this accept Suboxone. Good luck hope I helped someone cause it sucks so bad.

Buprenorphine. - does come in a weekly patch in 10 -15 & 20mcg per hour maybe you dr can change to them .... I do need to move them a couple times a week ... I usually start on thigh then move to diff spots on my leg ... I use a couple wraps of stretch cling wrap (about 70 cents for 5 yard roll in box of 24 on amazon) get 3-4 wraps per roll may be able to get 5 if you wrap a lil less if you wear long socks they can replace the wrap .... just a lil info I hope it helps ..... almost forgot the commercial name is butrans

It happens to me too, the two little glands under my tongue get huge. I started going between lip and gums and it hurts like a cut. Try folding the film. Also ask your prescribing doctor for a preauthorization for tabs. I got one.

When I started suboxone films I developed a sore on my tongue that can only be described as a crater. It was a hole in my tongue (I have photographs). It was so painful that I was unable to eat anything substantial for 2 months. I had 1 yogurt a day for the first 2 weeks. I lost 30 lbs in 2 months, and another 50 soon after. No one could tell me why. My doc eventually switched me to the tabs which helped a little, but I guess my body ended up adjusting. I've been on it 3.5 years and am looking forward to switching to Sublocade injection later this month to get off it for good. I just moved to a new state and cannot get my latest script filled. My car just died today and I need my script, so I have to rent a car to drive the 100 miles to my old pharmacy because I have no other choice. My doctor's office/clinic says they cannot help me. It's a farce and it's disgusting and this country has lost all of my confidence. It's the most backward system imaginable, and pharmacists should not be allowed to dispense scripts based on their own erroneous beliefs and ignorant judgments. I truly believe many people would rather we just die already. I haven't abused drugs in years yet I'm still suffering shame and consequences. I wish you the best with your mouth. Unfortunately the only advice I have is to tough it out, and switch to tabs if you can.

I have been on subs for too long I am on for life. I could tell you horror stories about me trying to get off.
If your mouth gets sore from the sublingual strip or pill get some stuff at the drugstore. I went to CVS and they sell a mouth wash for sores in the mouth. Use it a couple times a day and it will heal your mouth. Hope that helps. Peace

Hello! Ask for Zubsolve. There are a lot of milligrams so if your a high dose tapering down is painless if you do it right. It's a white pill you also put under your tongue and it taste like mint. It really tastes good.

I have been on the suboxone strips for years and also noticed soreness. I was thinking that the strips were cutting me under the tongue. When I put a strip under my tongue it would burn so bad. I looked under my tongue and would see dark red bumps. Thank you everyone I thought I was the only one. I am so glad I looked this up.
