I recently took a mouth swab for a drug test and it tested a high positive result for cocaine and i do not use!!! The only thing i did minutes prior to the test was rinse my mouth with a mouthwash. It was a meijer off-brand type, alcohol free, light mint. It's ingredients contain water, sorbitol, propylene glycol, sodium lauryl sulfate, benzoic acid, sodium benzoate, poloxamer 407, sodium saccharin, flavor, sucralose, green 3, yellow 10. Could the mouthwash be the reason for the false positive for cocaine? Please help, I am trying to prove my innocence. Thank you so very much.

Please forward any of this information/findings that you can. PLEASE, I do not take anything not prescribed to me and have 2 false positive tests. It's getting frustrating trying to convince doctors. Why are we guilty until we prove ourselves innocent?

I'm facing the same situation. My doctor actually discharged me and because that's on my record can't find a pain doctor to treat me. I tested positive for Suboxone something I've Never taken. I do take Lyrica and Pfizer even says it can cause false positives. It's very troubling we have no way to appeal. Hope things work out for you!

I am in the methadone clinic and my mouth swab came back positive for cocaine and I have not had it since Dec 4th which is a couple months ago, the day before I went to rehab! I had just gotten out the day before and swear on everything I love I didn't touch it! I'm pregnant and don't want anything to do with it! I had a urine screen a week later that showed I was clean! I have dentures that I put a wax liner in and wonder if cocaine could be detected from that a couple months later? It really upsets me because it made me look bad and I honestly haven't touched the stuff or been around anyone that has! I mentioned the denture thing and they said I didn't have it my system while I was gone but I also only got urine screens and not one mouth swab! So it has to do with, not so much my dentures but the old wax lining in my dentures I think! I'm getting a new kit and going to put a new lining in them today! Has this ever happened to anyone else? Or heard of this? I'm on zero tolerance agreement with the clinic and could've really messed me up!

I recently took an oral swab and came up positive for cocaine. It said it came up as at level 18. Is that a high or a low level? I have court in a week and a half and I'm freaking out. I have not used cocaine in over a year. I'm not taking any medications or anything because I am in a treatment program for court. I am trying to prove my innocence. If I took a hair follicle test wouldn't it be able to accurately tell me when the last time I used cocaine was?

I also had a false positive urine, then mouth swab for cocaine. And I'll admit it I've done it in my younger days, but I haven't taken any in a long time. It was for cocaine and for suboxone.

Yes, it's your wellbutrin 100%..I was on probation and was taking wellbutrin thinking I would be O.K but No..It came up positive for amphetamine and I had to go to jail..You have to let them know you are on them for depression or whatever, and it is known to come up positive for a stimulant.. Trust me I know my stuff. Another thing that tests false positive for amphetamine is allergy meds like claratin, vistral, benadryl.. So yes, it's definitely the wellbutrin.

My son has been saliva tested and it came back positive for cocaine. He doesn't take drugs and is now suspended from work pending a hearing next week. What can we do? Will he be sacked? How can we prove this is false? He has a cut off level of 8. What does this mean? He is beside himself.

The same thing has happened on June 13th to my 89 year old partially paralyzed bed ridden, mother with Alzheimer's. She is on some Alzhiemer medicine, Zoloft and pain medicine but hadn't had any in a couple weeks. She so much has never smoked a cigarette in her life. Now her in home care doctor said they will no longer prescribe her pain medicine because of this. She is in bed moaning and crying when the pain gets so bad. I take care of her and I am with her 24/7 so I know everything she eats and drinks. This is very upsetting and really pisses me off. WTF? ps - It's kind of funny because just a couple weeks I filed a complaint about this doctor/nurse practitioner and requested a new doctor. When she comes to see my Mom she doesn't address my concerns I have for my Mom, is very rude and doesn't follow thru with anything until I get my Mom's caseworker involved. Now yesterday we receive this letter that she cut off her pain medicine. I feel so frustrated and insulted. Now my Mom has to suffer in pain at 89 years old?!!!

Urine assays are known to be highly inaccurate & these monsters should of retested same sample to confirm! Any sample testing positive after screening is tested again using Liquid Chromatography Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS/MS) by reputable medical professionals. Drug urine assays can be wrong 50% of the time! And oral swabs are good at detecting immediate use but who is going to do drugs right before?

I had a mouth swap done in they sd its positive for coc but i dont n never have used substanced. in the person tht took my test let someone tht they knew was positive for usen touch my vial would tht make my test come back positive

I tested positive for cocaine with my mouth swab and never even use cocaine. I take morphine, xanax, oxycodone & baclofen. I was on bactrim and sometimes take mobix, which is like ibuprofen. I need to know why it would be positive for cocaine? In desperate need of some answers please.

Most of the false positives seem to relate to a mouth swab. My own experience as well. We need to begin a movement to invalidate this test. There are more accurate ways to detect.

I am a liver transplant patient on numerous meds. I go to a pain mgt dr. for severe pain from a broken back. Never, ever had a positive drug test at my transplant clinic (3 yrs. total of going at least monthly) or at my pain mngt... 2 weeks ago I went to my pain mgmt appt. and they did a mouth swab drug test. Last week they called and told me it came back positive for cocaine and methamphetamine. No way possible this could be. I would not jeopardize this new liver by doing something stupid like drugs. I have been on Amoxicillin prescribed by a dr for the flu, and other meds also. I need my pain meds... What can i do?

I am so sorry this happened to you! Hopefully it won't jeopardize your pain contract as it did mine. As stated in my previous post there needs to be a way we can vindicate ourselves. What is the pain doctor saying?

I had a false positive for cocaine, a very small dose, but still, I wouldn’t risk losing my pain management doctor. The PA says that saliva tests aren’t always accurate, so I did a urine test. Now I have to wait and see the results.

The system is not perfect, I know this for a fact, many medications and food interactions can trigger a false positive on a saliva test, happens with urine tests also. If you fail the test and you know you haven't indulged in the specific narcotic you're being accused of indulging in, you can ask for a secondary test. You will get a cotton swab to swish around in your mouth. They can send that off to a lab and they can tell exactly how much you've been taking, how long you been taking it and when you're cut off was, period. Always challenge a urine and saliva test by asking for a secondary test. No sense in being prosecuted when you have a second option that could possibly clear you. Good luck to everyone and please, exercise abstinence within 3 weeks prior to any saliva or urine testing. Don't use over-the-counter detox products. None of them actually work. Your best bet is using a tablespoon of diatomaceous earth food-grade mixed in with a cup of coffee twice a day which will clean out your system of toxins, heavy metals and even take plaque off your arteries for better blood flow and circulation. If you're seeing a probation officer once a month... Party up the night after you seen her and for the next few days then abstinence for 3 weeks and clean out your system. No they don't. They go up to 3 days back. They are more accurate than urine tests but they don't test as far back. I think the only test that actually goes months back is the hair test.

Challenge the decision. If denied again, submit a hardship request to the mfgr of the medicine she takes. Pharmecutical companies offer big discounts. Best of luck to you and God bless your mom.
