Adderall Manufactured By Teva Not Working (Page 38)
UpdatedI have had two refills of Adderall 20 mg that was manufactured by Teva/barr (Teva) and it seems to have much less medication in each pill. Refills by another manufacturer work. This is ridiculous, and where do we report Teva and who can check each pill for amount for medication? I would gladly donate some of my worthless ones to the FDA?
Re: Chris (# 728)
Are you a drug company troll? That makes no sense.
1) According to a friend who has used methamphetamine (before diagnosis) and adderall (after diagnosis) they are not the same AT ALL. One gives you a buzz for days that is scattered and random - the other keeps you focused for hours on whatever you are working on.
2. For me, generic adderall that is working doesn't produce euphoria, or "a high" - it produces a calm, focused state. (Now getting my work done on time does make me feel good, but that isn't what you're saying). If the drug is working correctly, at the end of the day, I'm naturally sleepy and ready for bed, and I and sleep well. If it isn't working correctly, I am sleepy all day, and then frustrated as well because I can't focus and get my work done which jacks up anxiety. In any case, adderall should never make me sleepy or depressed within an hour of taking it or change from one month to the next.
3) If your theory was true, then it wouldn't change for just one month out of several. The issue being discussed here is inconsistency, not tolerance or habituation.
Re: Ashley (# 727)
I have the same. Name brand even at lowest does, was to much but far better than putting me to sleep or having unpredictable results.
Re: momS (# 3)
You're probably getting the generic medicine, not name brand. Have your doctor write the script for name brand ONLY no substitutes. Most pharmacies will tell you there's no difference. The difference is HUGE! Its been a major problem for me, even when my doctor writes the script for "name brand only***do not substitute" I've had pharmacists tell me, if they are out of the name brand (and they always are) they are legally allowed to substitute name brand with generic.
Re: KIm (# 40)
38 out of 40 people COMPLETELY disagree with you; #34 and #40 (you). The consensus is quite clear among actual patients.
Re: pomopsyche (# 740)
I could have written this same post. This is spot on with my month now. Teva is the manufacturer, but mine are 20mg. Last month I was spot on with dosing. This month I was shy by 5 days. I break them in half and in quarters. Extra tea or protein smoothies dont help. The heavy weight that I feel lingers. Dragging myself out of bed is not easy. In fact, if i didnt have a reason to get up I could easily stay in bed and sleep. Gaining huge amounts of weight has been another side effect. Yes, over 15 years gaining 30 pounds trying and fighting to lose it has been so frustrating. My sister takes the name brand and has a hard time keeping her weight on. She takes the dr not tablet.
MS (# 723) --
There is not a brand name available for instant release adderall. Only the extended release is available in brand name and it is still Shire, the original manufacturer. TEVA tried to "steal" the rights to produce XR adderall and found themselves in court with a lawsuit against them from Shire....which Shire won. There is not a brand name or even an authorized generic available for adderall IR.

Dierdre (# 745)
Exactly the same scenerio for me. Been this way for a long time now with Teva 20mg IR. Just curious who else might have noticed May-June were like sugar pills. July refill seemed OK but still lacked the focus that ADHD/ADD meds are prescribed for. Then Aug. is like not taking anything at all, completely useless and zero therapeutic value?
I fill my scripts in SW Colorado at walgreens by the way.
Re: Kim (# 20)
How exactly did you perform lab tests that helped you reach that conclusion? Please explain what you based your opinioname on.
Re: Jesse (# 681)
Sandoz XR and Prasco XR are exactly the same as the brand Shire XR. They both have Authorized Generic deals with Shire. Meaning EXACT same but the writing on the capsule....oh, and cost. The Shire will cost you minimum $100 co-Pay. Get your Doc to write Sandoz XR or Prasco XR " no substitutes" and you have brand XR.
Teva is awful and makes me jumpy, feel weird.. Aurobindo, although more subtle is less harsh and gives focus. Isn't that what you want?
I find it strange that Aurobindo is dragged through the gutter but that sweet testing orange football Teva is preferred.
With that said we all react differently....just my 2 cents.

Re: Steve (# 574)
I've had enough. Reporting to the FDA has proven to be a waste of time.
Maybe we should boycott TEVA generic adderall all together? We are not receiving medication that is effective and we are putting who knows what kind of poisons in our bodies unknowingly as it is now. After months and months of suffering from these sugar pills being distributed by TEVA...maybe we should suffer for a reason that might actually make a difference instead of continuing to pay this BS corporation for making us suffer?
I've been treated for ADHD since I was 10 yrs old and I too have an auto-immune disease which is not only painful but comes with debilitating fatigue. I for one don't want to allow TEVA to have ANY control ANYMORE over the quality of my life with the unregulated and ineffective crap they are being allowed to manufacture and distribute to the very people that provide them a reason to exist in the first place. All of us. The patients who depend on the medication we are prescribed.
I wonder who would take notice if the patients prescribed generic adderall suddenly stopped filling their prescriptions???
Re: Steve (# 583)
I've filled my script with Walgreens for over 15 yrs. I was told last month they have no control over what manufacturer they receive and can't place orders for a specific manufacturer for generic adderall or any schedule II drugs. Was this the response of an uncaring, lazy pharmacist? I suspect it was. I've always been polite and never "ruffled feathers" by even questioning or complaining to them about this subject before. I have however reported to the FDA and TEVA more than once with zero results.
Re: WTFFDA (# 748)
Yes, yes, yes, August has been a struggle for me. I'm in Cleveland,Ohio I do find it if I crumble them and take the crumbs all through the day it helps. I can't stand the xr. I basically do my own way of the xr. The delivery of the xr 15 years ago was amazing. The delivery of the ir tablet was amazing. It's a crap shoot now. Fog, headaches, heavy head, lazy, sleepy, not caring, sweet cravings. Hamster wheel. Maybe these are the side effects I never read. Actually the feeling I get now is that of Ritalin. This is exactly how I remember Ritalin. There seems to be something wanting a kick start. Knowing the possibilities from how the meds have worked before is what makes it frustrating.
Re: Moon (# 6)
I live in North Tampa I do get the Teva brand Peach oval horrible has the girl stated depressed anxiety is horrible I need this medicine to work where in God's name can I find something in my area does anyone know so mad about this s*** it's horrible this is been going on for about 4 or 5 months now I cannot take Sandoz I had to flush them they just are worse nervous irritable jumpy it's not right
Here is how it works: when a generic company decides it would like to supply a brand new medication, they conduct studies on a —-very small—group of people.
(Poor external validity)
The specific results of these tests are not made available to the public, only to the FDA.
The FDA must take “the word” of the generic company in terms of the validity of their testing
Once a generic company is approved, oversight by the FDA to ensure bioequivalency is very rare
I find this profoundly disturbing

The article below is from 2015 and gives additional insight to the FDA's continous & increasing failure to oversee generic medications. The FDA doesn't work to protect the American consumer. It works to protect the foreign manufacturers of generic drugs being
produced overseas and shipped to the US. It's all about $$$. FDA collects...not protects.

Dierdre (# 753)
I agree. It feels similar to Ritalin now and gives me the same intolerable side effects. Reminds me of non-drowsy cold medication. Anxiety, depression, irritability, high BP...just to name a few. Does absolutely nothing to help manage my symptoms.
Yes...I absolutely agree! I'm on 15mg adderall and it's completely ineffective. It has no effect at all. I actually forgot that I had taken it. It's like they've replaced the active pills with placebos thinking we wouldn't notice. I don't know how to report this or have this investigated. I guarantee you there is no active ingredient in these pill I was given. My prescription was filled 2 weeks ago and I've only taken 2 doses. I really need this medication but I stopped taking the pills because it doesn't work.
Re: James (# 755)
You nailed it with the cold medicine. That jumpy out of skin feeling. Like my heart is at the race track. I'm not sure why this is even allowed as for the different fillers or allowing the % of active ingredients to differ from the name brand, but it seems the pharmaceutical companies call the shots then when a nightmare happens (this opioid situation) they get off and it's everyone else's fault for getting the tolerance. Many kids, teens self medicate because they haven't been diagnosed or may. Not have been given medications. I shouldn't single out the young, I found out adhd when my daughter was tested. I started taken this as a tool a for me... I just want not to feel like I'm in a fuzz. Every month I play this mental game of what manufacturer did the drug store get the best pricing from. I'm asking this as a question because I really don't know how the pharmaceutical world works. Is there a way to get the exact ingredients like you would from buying a cake mix? Everything we buy has to have a list of ingredients, but with pharmaceutical it would have active and inactive along with the % of active and non active. Fillers, sugars blah.. maybe it's out there, not sure. Peace & soul.
I took name brand adderall for years and it worked perfectly. I’ve been taking the Teva generic for about five years now. I have experienced such a roller coaster of negative side effects and inconsistencies it got to the point where it was unbearable. I weaned myself off my ADD meds. I then tried to treat my ADD naturally without meds but the intense depression crept in. Being a mom and a wife I can’t afford to be depressed. So I went back on the Teva generic adderall again. It’s a constant battle and it shouldn’t be that way. One month I feel a little motivation and focus, the next month my mind is racing but I can’t seem to do anything productive, almost a zombie like state. The next month it’s working pretty descent but wears off after 2 hours. This roller-coaster is enough to cause someone to lose their mind. It’s not right! As angry as I am, I’m thankful for this chat because I know I’m not alone in this. I cannot stand that others are suffering but it’s validation for myself that I’m not completely delusional. There has to be something we can do to make this better.
