My son just called me from the hospital. He said they're giving him narcotic pain medication through his IV that starts with the letter B. ## It could possibly be Buprenorphine, it is an opiate that is also used to treat drug addiction, but helps with pain for some people. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Another possibility is Butorphanol, it carries the same risk and causes the same side effects. Can he ask them what they are giving him?

Three bad dis in neck and fibromyagia with severe migranies i think being put out of me out misery would be better lol. ## Hi Vonda, I'm sorry to hear about what you're going through. I personally don't have much experience with narcotic pain medications, but it sounds like you may want to speak with your doctor about trying an extended release narcotic pain medication such as Opana ER (ER stands for extended release), Oxycontin, or Morphine ER. Also, I do know from personal experience that exercise can really benefit those with fibromyalgia. My father has fibromyalgia and whenever he starts back on ...

Hello I'm trying to find out the new pain medicine that kids are taking today that replaces the pain pill oxycontin. I saw a show on TV about this but I can't remember what It's called? I think it starts with the letterA? It's the new drug craze today. ## The only one I can think of offhand that starts with an A would be Actiq, it contains the narcotic Fentanyl, which is over 80 times stronger than Morphine and is available as a lollipop, it's a formulation used for slow release of the medication. Does this sound familiar?

I am taking for pain of a tooth that needs to be pulled. Also taking clindamycin for infection. When should I feel relief from pain? ## The Norco should help about 15 to 20 minutes after you take it, though it may not reduce all the pain, depending on the severity of the infection. The FDA classifies it as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Once the antibiotic starts taking effect, then the pain will greatly ease and you should start seeing improvement from it in about 3 days. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

pain pill ## I believe this person was confusing the names of several medications. The pain medication that starts with a D and is most commonly misunderstood is Dilaudid, it is a very potent narcotic analgesic. Thus, it has the potential to be habit forming and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. You can learn more Dilaudid details here. Are there any comments or questions? Is there anything I can help with?

I have an abscessed tooth, and my dentist prescribed me vicodin 5/300. Every 4-6 hrs as needed. If one doesnt do the trick do you think it would be safe to take 1 and a 1/2 to 2 every 4-6 hrs as needed? ## It should be fine. Your tooth should stop hurting in 2-3 days and you'll have left overs anyways. Don't take more than you need though or we will see you back on here asking how to kick opiate addiction. Seriously though, the 5='s 5miligrams of the narcotics part of the pill and 10 won't hurt you any. also, take it just before the pain starts as you wouldn't want to wait for the pain to start and have to wait for the meds to kick in 45 minutes later. ## Vicodin 5/300 is a low dose of narcotic plus 300mg of Tylenol. Taking 2 for an abscess every 4 to 6 hours is appr...

Is this pill immediate release or control releassed and Up too how many milligrams can you take at once how many hours apart ? ## Hello, Erin! How are you? This tablet is manufactured by KVK Tech and they list it as containing 10mgs of Oxycodone in a regular release formulation, so it starts working about 15 to 20 minutes after you take it. The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. As to how much you can take and when to take it, you should follow your doctor's instructions. Much of it depends on your pain levels and opiate tolerance. Is there anything else I can help with? ## So this means they are immediate release so ev...

its for pain its a oval shaped pill with gx es7 on it i would like to know what it is and what is made of ## Well this is definitely NOT Oxycodone. Pill Image This is called Ceftin it is 250mgs, the active ingredient is called Cefuroxime, it is a Cephalosporin class antibiotic. This treats many different types of infections, including respiratory, but it is definitely not, any type of narcotic drug. ## By the way, I am not sure who told you it was for pain, but it does not fall under that classification either, as I said, just an antibiotic. The only way it will help pain, is if the pain is being caused by an infection, and after a few days of taking this antibiotic and it starts to work, then the pain will naturally ease, as it would with any antibiotic once it started working and defe...

can hydrocodone/IBU be taken with doxycycl hyc ## There are no interactions listed, between taking them together, that I can find, however, you should check with your doctor or pharmacist to be certain. This combination is often given to patients with infections that cause pain, such as dental infections, to treat the pain in the interim, until the antibiotic starts to work. The Hydcrodone with Ibuprofen are the active ingredients in Vicoprofen, which is a narcotic pain reliever and it may cause side effects, such as: nausea, dizziness, constipation and dry mouth. The Doxycycline is an antibiotic used to treat various types of infections and it may cause side effects, such as: nausea, dizziness, diarrhea and non-allergic skin rash.
