Oxycodone And Its Time Tolerance

Updated

I have been on 10 mgs of oxycodone for almost two years. After taking them for several months I noticed that the pain was gradually getting worse. I explained this to my doctor at a pain clinic and they started prescribing other drugs which had no effect or such serious side affects such as seizures (which i am on disability for) uncontrollable bowels, vomiting etc.. I explained this to the doctors which it would be one of 7 or 8 that work there and was basically treated like i was a drug addict for saying that the pain was getting worse and because of my seizures i could only take certain medications. I expressed that maybe a higher dosage or a larger quantity of oxycodone would be better then throwing all kinds of drugs at me that were causing the negative side effects. Well as of a month and a half ago i stopped going to the pain clinic and have been suffering the severe pain ever since. I don't know what to do other then make an appointment with the clinic again and hopefully they will see I am not a junkie looking to feel high but a human in pain. I don't know what ever happened to the Hippocratic oath but I feel like they pick and choose who to apply it too. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for listening or reading.

Hello. Christopher! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problems you've had.

Have you considered trying a different clinic? That is always an option.

Did you also provide them with copies of your medical records for proof of your other conditions and why you can't take some medications?

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

What is your general location? Someone might be able to suggest a good doctor or clinic in your area.

I get this reaction from the dr a lot and my previous dr tried to send me to a pain clinic where if your lucky the dr there will talk to your dr and "recommend" meds for my dr to give me. Well my dr response was just because they suggest them for you doesn't mean I will give them to you! He wants me to learn how to live with my pain instead of giving me anything for it. So I ended up switching dr's and she seems pretty nice and good, however she doesn't want to help me with my pain either. I have severe anxiety attacks when I'm put in groups of people so I explained that to the dr about not being able to be in groups to learn how to live with my pain. Needless to say is I've had 20 surgeries, been in a bad car accident, have bad knees and on Monday they finally did my left knee (which they had done my right knee in July of 2016) they had to give me donor tissue for my left knee. With injuries I've had to my body and all the surgeries and my body produces too much scar tissue so I get pain from that as well. I've had a surgery on both knees before and so they did a major surgery this time around which is they cut the bone off and moved it over and put it back with screws and brackets. The surgeon told me my knees both have arthritis in them so I will have pain the rest of my life but so far my pain has gone down in my knees. Only time will tell as they didn't want to give me knee replacements due to my age being only (35). I had lived in one town for 34 years of my life and that's where 18 of my surgeries took place and then 2 here since I moved here a little over a year ago.

Well the last surgery that was done where I used to live the dr messed up on me badly when he did my hysterectomy. He cut my bladder bad and in the worst spot he could cut it also it was cut like it wasn't cut straight so he had to call in a bladder dr to fix it: I was supposed to be in surgery 2 hours and it ended being 8 hours and most of it was the bladder repair! He literally was a hair away from cutting the tubes to my kidneys which would have put me into instant kidney failure so now at times my kidney bothers me and also have a ton of pain in my bladder on top of the other stuff I deal with daily. It really sucks and the dr that messed me up and I was in massive pain well he blamed me for it and wrote stuff on my charts where only the other dr can see and he wrote I was a "drug seeker" and he told me to my face that I was a druggie cuz I was in massive pain still only 2 weeks out from surgery and I asked for more pain meds and that's the response I got out of him along with a no so now I have to go thru hoops again where I live now to "prove" to them I'm not a drug addict. It's pathetic! So I deal with chronic pain in my neck due to a car wreck I was in and almost broke my neck in, my tailbone that I broke in a bike wreck, my bladder and my knees. They say at my age I shouldn't have that much pain and all these dr refuse to give me anything for all the pain and then when I tell them it makes me depressed cuz I'm in bed all day long most days due to my pain. They tried to tell me it's a choice whether or not I get out of bed and yes that's true but when your in so much pain and gets to the point u can't walk without crying from the pain then telling me it's because of my anxiety is making my pain worse then it is. They try to blame everything else so they don't have to help me.

Well my knee surgeon after each surgery makes sure I'm not in much pain after surgery and for 6 weeks after. The new dr I signed paperwork for her to get all my medical records from all the dr where I used to live well she got them but didn't look st them yet cuz she hasn't had time! It's a stupid cycle! Once I heal from this surgery I will be able to walk with a lot less pain so that's a huge plus but that doesn't get rid of any of the other pain I go thru on a daily basis. A couple weeks ago my knee locked up the left one while they were getting surgery approved so I went to my regular dr and I was shocked and she acted like it was going to cut her short by giving me some Vicodin to keep my pain down til surgery. Then when I had this surgery the surgeon assistant that seen me before my surgery I told her that last time he had to double up the strength of oxycodone for me as I have a high tolerance for pain meds since being on them quite a bit from all surgeries and such I've dealt with and so she wouldn't give me a higher dose and so what do u know I had to have like 4 narcotic pain shots an anti inflammatory pain shot and then 2 Vicodin before they sent me home cuz the nerve blocker they did didn't help any this time so Tuesday I had to call and talk to my surgeons medical assistant and so they doubled my dose to 20mg every 4 hours to keep the pain down and his other PA wrote it for more then the other one did and she talked with the surgeon as did I the day of surgery and told him my concerns about pain management after surgery so he told me well if it's not helping call me tomorrow and I will up your meds for you.

So of course I had to do that and he gave me ibuprofen, promethazine as I'm allergic to zofran then hydroxazine but I'm afraid to mix all that with my anxiety meds and such I take everyday. I'm very cautious about mixing meds and to many and all that. They had me on Ativan for a couple months prior to my surgery for my anxiety and taking it Twice a day and my new dr I told her I don't mix them with pain meds or anything so she finally figured it out that obviously I'm not a druggie either! I've never touched drugs in my life besides ones that have been prescribed by my dr and for me only. Actually even had a family member pull a gun to me and tell me I was gonna do drugs and I said no shoot me and well I'm here today so obviously he didn't shoot me but I've fought all my life to keep from being a junkie or alcoholic as both sides of my family have been down those roads. So I refuse to be like any of them. I won't even consume marijuana and it's legal in my state. I did try it to see if it would help my pain and it didn't so I won't even use that either. All of this is just stupid and the dr can see my records and yet they hand pain pills to a lot of people that you know for a fact that they don't need them. Then the ones like us that need them we can't get any help. It's so annoying anyways I know this was from months ago but I hope your able to see this so you know your not alone in this fight! Sorry you have to go thru that as well.
