Let's work together. I am 63 and have many problems physically and mentally. Was dropped from a PCM bc I didn't know the rules of MO. I am new to MO, and I am in deep water. No one will help me. Don't Dr's care anymore? I am so stressed out which BTW makes the pain even worse. If you find a pain Dr or I happen too I will let you know. So far I'm dirt in the street. No one cares. Hang in there.

I am from North Carolina myself and have issues trying to find a good pain management doctor. I thought I may have found one after been with him for almost 2 years in which he had been prescribing me the medicine that actually works plus not even requiring a monthly visit but every 3 months which has been sort of a relief. However, I do have a question 4 anyone out there dealing with pain management who are in North Carolina or anywhere else for that matter. Has anyone ever been asked to give up benzos before their pain doctor would prescribe them medicine that would be strong enough to work for their pain? Another scenario would be; has anyone ever been going to a pain doctor for a year or two while taking benzos and getting the pain medicine that helps them then one day being asked to give up benzos just out of the blue from their pain doctor or else being told that their pain medicine would have to be reduced if they did not give up the benzos? Keep in mind that for two years that my pain doctor knew that I was on benzos for anxiety from another doctor but still prescribed me the strength of pain medicine that I needed to control my pain but not once told me that I would eventually have to give up benzos to have the pain medicine that actually was needed to control the pain. The only comment he had made to me in the past year was that he could only raise my pain medicine so high because I was on benzos which I was perfectly fine with because the level of pain medicine I was on and still on has been working even with the benzos. I have been on benzos for 6 years and this doctor just comes up to me on my last visit to tell me that I would need to be clean of benzos by my next visit which I thought was unprofessional the way he played that out because he could have given me that type of notice 6 months ago or even a year ago when we first discussed that he could only raise my medicine levels so high. He is never in the room even 5 minutes during my visits and I doubt he knows I have been on them for 6 years or even cares but it is wrong to expect someone to just come up like that having to choose between benzos and pain medicine that actually works for me. I don't understand the urgency now to just go off of them completely when he could have told me this 6 months ago if it was a big deal because I need the benzos for anxiety but I need pain medicine strong enough to control the pain at the same time so I am left between a rock plus a hard place. My benzos are prescribed by another doctor who knows about the pain medicine but has never made an issue of it and I am not going on antidepressants at all. I have been content with both the pain doctor and the anxiety doctor which I have been going to the pain doctor for 2 years but the anxiety doctor for 6 years but I should not have to choose between the two when it comes to the medicine. Has anyone ever experienced anything such as this or maybe have some suggestions as to which way I should go with this because I do not even have a primary care doctor just specialists? I just feel like he is putting me in a very bad position because I have to control my pain but I also have to control my anxiety in which I cannot tolerate antidepressants because they make me like a zombie. Does anyone know of a medicine that is good for anxiety and works like benzos calming your nerves but not making you like a zombie plus maybe helping you sleep? Any input on this matter would be greatly appreciated especially in the North Carolina area because I may have to switch but I really don't want to because I am tired of playing this game of trying to find the great pain doctor plus keep my nerves intact at the same time.

Some folks in chronic intractable pain can't even find an MD to prescribe a mild opiate or opiate like drug ( i.e.: tramadol ) to control the excruciating pain they are LIVING WITH FOR YEARS. It drives me crazy that delusional people who are already being prescribed powerful NARCOTIC OPIATES/OPIODS like oxycodone, Morphine, Dilaudid or Fentanyl yet they still have the audacity to cry for benzos in addition to what they are blessed enough to have been prescribed in this very restrictive current climate of restricted controlled drug environment with no regard to others who need help for HAVING NOTHING FOR PAIN CONTROL. IT'S THESE FOLKS WHO CAUSED THE PROBLEM. That insatiable desire for the opiate effects and damned everyone else who's needs are far from being met. Stop ****hing. Live your life. Pain relief means pain CONTROL not a state of blissful indifference to reality and everyday stresses that EVERYONE EXPERIENCES!!!

Yes I have been told that most pain dr. Will make you stop any anxiety meds before they will rx pain meds to you. It supposed to make it stronger so they won't take u as a PT on both.

I'm dealing with exactly the same issue in Mississippi. Scary. Will let you know how it plays out. My pain doctor has gone MIA- and I can't find a new one who will agree to see me with the benzos.

HI JO, my name is Christine, and in a similar SITUATION. I ALSO TAKE VALIUM FOR ANXIEY ALONG WITH FENTANYL PATCHES (75MCG, FOR PAIN.. PLUS TAKE HYDROCODONE FOR BREAKTHROUGH PAIN (325\10MG). I DO NOT LET THIS STOP MY ACTIVITIES THAT I ENJOY, BUT IT CAN BE DEBILITATING . I ALSO TAKE ZOLPIDEM 12.5MG FOR INSOMNIA. I NEED TO FIND A NEW PAIN SPECIALIST BECAUSE ITS BEEN MY PCP THATS BEEN HANDLING THIS, AND HE IS LIMITED NOW IN WHAT HE CAN PRESCRIBE, DUE TO NEW STATUTES THAT CAME OUT THIS YEAR. HAVE YOU TRIED ANY OF HESE DRUGS? LYRICA ALSO WORKS WELL, BUT YOU GAIN WEIGHT WITH IT.
