I always say that it's best to be upfront and honest, especially if you truly like this doctor and want to gain long term trust. Not telling your doctor about this will probably remain on your mind and be a burden every time you visit him/her.

Personally, I think if you suffer from anxiety/depression and need a Benzodiazepine class medication (like Klonopin (Clonazepam) or Xanax), your best bet it usually to see a psychiatrist, rather than a regular medical doctor. They are better trained in the types of medications that handle these problems and can also help you treat the underlying cause of your anxiety or depression, as opposed to covering up the feelings and emotions with medication; unless you decide that you're ok with only treating the symptoms for as long as they persist...

I'm stating this based on personal experience with severe depression for over 2 years, and covering it up can help you get by temporarily, but not indefinitely. I know anxiety is a bit different, but the same concept remains.

Additionally, if you had told your doctor about this, he or she may have been able to make you aware that there is an interaction between Methadone and Xanax. This interaction states the following:

MONITOR: Central nervous system- and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients.

MANAGEMENT: During concomitant use of these drugs, patients should be monitored for potentially excessive or prolonged CNS and respiratory depression.

If any case, letting your doctor in on what you're taking is more for your own safety than anything. I hope this info helps!

I was in a methadone clinic and having a script for Xanax was okay. I am now going to a doctors office for my methadone pills and I'm not sure about the Xanax. I know no Vics because I had a script for that and he told me federal guidelines would not permit that.

Yes I am talking about vicodin. When I was in a methadone clinic it was okay as long as I had a legit script but now that I go to a doctors office he said I was allowed to. He prescribed me tramadol which did not help at all. So you think he was wrong?

I just want to let you know some doctors are ok with writing a script for Methadone. As I have said in the past I currenly go to a Dr. office. I pay $75.00 every two weeks and receive a script good for two weeks. I went in for addiction but know he bills my insurance for pain. They mail me the payment $60.00 and I take it into him plus 15.00. He is in only 3 half days a week, comes in late and is a no show at times. Even though I get the insurance check it takes about 3 weeks to get and in the middle of the month I run short. He is in Wartren. This just does not work for me.. Well today I went to another doctor. Told him about my aches and pains and that I was looking for a new doctor. He took my insurance, did a good exam and gave me my meds including methadone for a months supply. I am so happy. This doctor is in Madison Hgts., he is not a dope Dr. though, he's legit. Anyone wanting info let me know. PAM

Yes he will either dump you or put you down to a half a MLG or a millagram per day. I know this first hand. Plus as soon as you tell him he will want to be in contact with your clinic.

If you still suffer anxiety while on methadone, perhaps your dose needs to be adjusted accordingly. Surely if you present with anxiety while on narcotics, your dose is either too low( you've been on it how long?) or too high( narcotics often incur stimulant effects before analgesia kicks in).(this is not medical advice since I am not a doctor--this is just an opinion. Please seek proper medical advice before acting on any opinions.)

Someone once gave me some advice and thus far in my life it has paid dividends, "There are 2 people on this planet you should NEVER under any circumstances lie too, they are your Lawyer & your Doctor."

Tell him because eventually they will have you take a drug panel and not trust you because he will think that you are going to multiple Dr's and cut you off. Honesty is the best policy.

Your lucky bcus I'm too on methadone an all the drs I've seen won't prescribe me any Benzos . which ain't rite it discrimination. I get severe panic attacks an had anxiety before my drug addiction. I've been prescribed klonopin in past but since methadone they won't . its not fair. I kno it may b wrong saying this but if they don't know don't tell them only cus if u really need it they may take it away. Just take it as u should . don't over do it cus the mixture could b too much. I think its wrong cus I know whole bunch people on benzo n methadone so its not like it not prescribe . the 2 drs I've seen while on clinic won't give it to me. I'm thinking bout finding a new dr who will take my condition serious. To have severe panic attacks afraid to leave house becus of anxiety ain't rite. I have to get the klonopin from my husband. What's really crazy is he on subutex an his Dr gave him klonopin after 2. Visits of seeing her. He asked for them n she gave it an he has no prior diagnosis of anxiety or anything . I told him to tell her what symptoms I was having an he said he was having the symptoms an she prescribed it to him. I was happy but mad at same time bcus my Dr is mistreating me an I been clean .

I know a guy who also died from this combination...and it didn't take a lot to kill him either (he was an experienced drug user as well)
Do not take these two together.
You need to figure out which medication you need more

I’m on 63 mg of Methadone to stay off pain meds and it works like a charm but I still take Clonazepam for sleeping. My doctor knows this. It’s not a secret. Be honest with your doctor. There here to help, not screw you.
