How do u take a subutex? Is it the same as taking as taking a suboxone?

Well, there is a HUGE amount of misinform here. First, Subutex AND Suboxone block the receptors in your brain that perceive opiates. It's not naloxone. Buprenorphine has a higher affinity to those receptors than pain meds and naloxone. Do some research or ask your doctor and you'll find out for yourself. Also, getting put into immediate withdrawal, or, "precipitated withdrawals" can happen while taking Suboxone (with Buprenorphine & Naloxone) or Subutex (Just Buprenorphine). The point of the Naloxone is to make it more difficult to abuse. I highly recommend people doing in depth research about these medications before following the advice of people who can't even spell the name of the medication they're trying to explain.

Yeah it is addictive but if used correctly it's pretty harmless. It's not like popping percs, I never took it to feel high.. there's a big difference between taking a drug to get f***ed up versus what's prescribed. Not popping pills is clean. Especially if your taking suboxone that has an opiate blocker. How can you say that person is not clean, what are they cheating? I'd rather not even take a substitute, But if it keeps me off opiates it's doing the job. Subs are very addicting but it's only meant to be temporary. Not doing drugs is not doing drugs. You can't say that someone who is dope free for a year isn't sober because they were taking subs.

This is an 8mg sublingual tablet and yes, they are used in very similar ways to treat the same things, except Subutex eliminates the Naloxone that can throw someone into withdrawals from taking it too soon.

Since it is also an opiate narcotic, it does have the potential to be habit forming and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and constipation.

i have an 8 mg sub that was given to me. read all the info here. im aware under the tongue. question is how many mgs do i take. break it into 2? 4? definately. will be taken for withdraw. not new to the opiad game. just have never done sub pills. strips,yes. thank you for answer to my question.

This is actually mis information.. You shouldn't swallow the spit AS IT DISSOLVES 'goofy' -- the whole point of taking it sublingually (under the tongue) is because of the blood vessels under the tongue, this is where it is best absorbed by the body. The bio availability for sublingual dosage is supposedly higher than straight swallowing the dissolved goo.. This is also the reason why you let it dissolve and then let it SIT under your tongue for at least 10 mins, and not to eat or drink anything for around 10-15 mins before or after you dose.

Don't get me wrong, you can most def swallow this disgusting spit, just wait til after you let it sit under your tongue for 10-15 'mins. If taking suboxone -- swallowing the spit is discouraged if you develop headaches, that's due to the naloxone in the suboxone which subutex doesn't have..

Don't listen to all these goobers (sorry, most of them..) on here, do your own research, google is your friend. Listening to some of these i****s is bound to get you killed.

Yes it's the same as taking suboxone, just put it under your tongue and let it dissolve. Don't swallow it and it's better to wait like 20 min before you drink anything.

So because ur miserable for allowing your ex to influence u into doing pills and have now lost everything you want to come on a forum and just talk s*** to everyone? This is suppose to help people. Maybe if you stopped doing pills and tried suboxone you could get your child back and get your life together. I get it's addicting but i do consider myself clean. I live a normal life with a full time job and raise my 15 month old daughter. I don't abuse my subutex nor do i take more than a half a day usually only a quarter. I'm not scamming and robbing and breaking laws or going to jail so you can think what you want but subutex has saved my life and I will consider myself clean for 4 1/2 years now. I can wake up with my baby and change her diaper and get her breakfast without being dying sick. I am trustworthy and have a house, car and a husband now so sounds like I'm doing pretty good and living the clean life. I forget to take my piece somedays cuz im so busy doing other stuff. If ur over getting high and u want ur son back and want to get your life back you really should stop judging and call a suboxone dr and start your new life now. Maybe then you wont judge people so quickly. I really do wish u the best but you need to own the responsibility of using. You cant blame your ex. You chose to try it and to continue to do it. Yes he's a pos for even offering it to you and no one should try and get someone else to do any drug but misery loves company so they do. I wish u the best but try not to be so judgmental. It really can be a life saver. I have my older daughter back now and my entire family back in my life. So if taking a piece of a pill helps keep me moving forward in life, I'm okay with that.

I haven't found any prescribing information, but a recent review from another Subutex user was stating that "the pamphlet says to just let the tablet dissolve under your tongue, and to not swallow the tablet."

Subutex is also listed as being a "sublingual"; which literally means 'under the tongue'.

Did you not receive any pamphlet/instructions from your doctor or pharmacist when you picked up your medication? I only ask because much of the dosing protocols may also be very patient specific to better suit your needs. For this reason it may be best to just go ahead and confirm that with your doctor.

To the person saying people aren't clean who take meds, you are ignorant and the reason some addicts go use and end up dying, because judgmental ignorant people like you. Everyone's recovery is different. Even NA and AA except clean time with meds taken properly. Maybe if you did research you would know long time opiate users have altered brain chemistry a d certain pathways have been burnt out. Maybe we should all listen to people like you so we can be "clean" and miserable, depressed, have anxiety and end up using and potentially overdosing and dying. GET A CLUE. Do some research and get off your imaginary pedestal before you do damage to someone trying to better themselves.

I am currently cleaning up after 3-4 months of drug abuse. I have 8mg tablets of suboxone. It is my understanding you're supposed to wait 24 hours before taking them. As you can imagine I am currently suffering from some not so fun withdrawals and wanted to know when I could start taking them. I was told I should start with half a tablet and then gradually increase until I am taking two a day. Anyone have any advice, corrections, etc? Other than not being an i**** in the first place...

This is true! Any addiction like this is absolutely horrible.it's an useful place to be stuck in.iv been an addict to pain pills and then subutex for the past seven years and my soon to be ex husband also have me my first pill. The while relationship is toxic.if you ask me the subutex was worse than the pain pills.but thanks to a lot of will power and. Allowing God into my life I haven't even taken so much as a Tylenol in 423 days.it's an amazing feeling to feel like a human again...I'll be praying for all of you.you all can quit without subutex or any other aid.I have faith in you!

I may not be considered "clean" but ask my employer and family the results that Subutex have on MY life.I can work a 50 hour work week and can focus on my family afterwards. I'm not out chasing pills like a true addict for my "get up" pill the next morning spending money that I don't have and going places that can be dangerous, not to mention associating with ppl who I don't need to be around. Plus I see a doctor twice a month who works the steps with me.I'm employable, datable and I can contribute to my community.So put a label on me if you want, that's on you,but I have a great life now because I work hard and make the right choices.And as a plus I haven't spent one night in jail for taking MY prescribed Subutex. I'm currently weening off and taking one day at a time.PERIOD!!!

Just place it under the tongue and let it dissolve gently. Its not a life saver candy! Lmao! I've been reading these comments for a while and they're so funny sometimes, some people have no business getting themselves involved. Yes stopping subutex will cause withdrawal. It like methadone must be tappered down. You must wait 3 days after last methadone before taking suboxone or subutex.

taking 110 mg methadone will definitely not cause opiate withdrawls.

If you've been relatively clean and have not taken methadone recently, then I am concerned.

It mat cause an OD and death by respiratory depression.

This is not always true. I was on 120 mg of methadone, my doc said to not take my methadone for 3 days and then start my Suboxone. I did that and in 10 minutes I was in complete withdrawal. If you taper to almost no methadone (1-2 mg) , you then can wait the 3 days for first dose of Suboxone. You need to be in withdrawals before taking the Suboxone. I am warning anyone to be very careful. It took 11 days for me to be ok after I started the Suboxone, and I ended up back on methadone. Methadone has a 24 hour HALF life, it remains in your body for a very long time and the naloxone that is in Suboxone will knock the methadone out of the way while putting you in withdrawals. The point I'm stressing is TAPER DOWN ON THE METHADONE FIRST.

How can you say they're not clean? They are very clean and I'll tell you how. We are not going to drug dealers every 2 minutes spending every dollar that we have to feel high. We could be with our family or be around people. We have our energy again. You know what I don't have to go to a drug dealer soon as I open my eyes to go feel high. My body is at peace. My mind is at peace and you guys are doing a good job. Keep it up. I'm happy cuz you're clean.

Yeah just wake up tomorrow and don't have a drug problem. If it worked like that then we would just do that. If you are not abusing the subs or Suboxone then you are doing the right thing. Don't get caught up on the definition of clean or sober. Just do you and worry about you.
