For anyone else wondering, I can also confirm that "dye" is the only thing separating these two pills.

According to nih.gov, the 10 mg/325 mg and 10 mg/750 mg tablets include "D&C Yellow #10 Aluminum Lake"

You can learn more about this drug on the page for Acetaminophen + Hydrocodone

I hope this helps!

Well, jbone & David, I can't see why so many, myself included, have had such ad reactions to the white Watsons. I don't take narcotics often but I did for 11 years. I have never had this type of problem with hydrocodone as I did last week! It didn't touch my pain at all and it made me very sick! Something is going on with them, most definitely!

There is something very wrong with the white Watsons besides being less affective ,I get headaches sleeplessness, irritability, and dry mouth, the only thing I know is that actual Watson company pharmaceutical sold to Activis which another pharmaceutical company. this is not the same pill. I tested this pill for 10 days now.

I was just given these by my pharmacy. I have taken pain medication for over 10 years... I've had about every brand of 10/325 on the market in the past with not one issue EVER. I can also confirm there is something seriously wrong here with the Watson 853 white pills. I am on day 2 with them and they are GARBAGE. They are not effective whatsoever and something has changed with them. We need to organize in some way, get these things chemically analyzed for every ingredient in them and also get an analysis done on the old formulation. There is going to be a difference in some way. This is an outrage.

I'm of the belief that they probably haven't reduced the amount of hydrocodone in them (if they have they are going to be in serious trouble. They legally have to be within 20% of the labelled amount), but have changed the delivery mechanism in some way. It's almost as if they are like time release pills.

These are instant release pills; however, and they are meant for breakthrough pain. If they've manipulated the delivery mechanism or added time release to them... or something that prohibits instant release they are going to be in just as much trouble. This is fraudulent and pain sufferers deserve some answers. This is absolutely ridiculous.

The White norco are so horrible I had no problem with the yellow why do they do this take away meds that really work great and play around with your health. They need to let the pt make a decision on whether or not they want the yellows or whites.

I can vouch for the above complaints, the new Watson 10/325 "white" pills that do not work. I have a terrible back from installing carpet all my life, and have been on Norco generic and Oxycontin for about 2 yrs now, I was never a fan of the Norco to begin with, always made me sick and constipated vs just taking Oxycontin. I've gotten these white Watons 3-4 times now and cannot stand how they make me feel, I also suffer crazy headaches, abdominal cramps, trouble breathing out my nose at night when I take these for my BT pain.....WTF did they do to this medicine??

There is NO difference. The correct term is the "placebo" effect. I have been on hydrocodone for 5 years from 5mg to 10mg and they have always been white. I had the opposite reaction when one time the the pharmacy gave me the yellow instead of the white. They said the only difference was dye. In fact the yellow took longer to work because of the hard outer coating. One suggestion is to take s tylenol along with the hydro since they lowered the tylenol in the hydro to 325mg. That helps. And drink a FULL glass of water with the pills.

Re: HokieFiend (# 7)

These white pills Watson 853 make my feet feel like they are being compressed around the arch and the underside of my foot. It hurts and starts within 1/2 hour after taking this medication. Hard to believe they are making these properly. Too many generics out there and too little oversight by FDA. Who is testing these? This is the third generic since I took the 304V by Qualitest. CVS used to carry that generic and it worked excellent for me and did not need an increase. 5/325 mg. Read where there were actually a million controlled meds delivered to a rural pharmacy in So Car. and not enough population for that quantify. Where do they get they active ingredient? Shorting generics and the true people who have diagnosis and symptoms are expected to tough it out as their other generic pills are the same. Bull. I am a retired RN. Trying to get Qualitest is next to impossible. Talked with a pharmacist who is going to try to order it for me. Have had peripheral neuropathy for 10 years from Lovastatin, and have been able to cut out Neurontin as it had side effects similar to this generic. Twisting feeling that was painful in each foot. But Neurontin also made me feel unbalanced, and had memory issues, recalling words, and feel my synapses are starting to work again. Please what does it take to get the FDA to look into this. Too many people with similar complaints and we are not getting the medication that was ordered and that we need. It is hard to accomplish anything when one is in pain. Lovastatin symptoms were brushed off by doctor and pharmacist and they contributed to this condition. Too late to get in on legal action, but I hiked 8 miles with one mile elevation and felt great. Now going to the grocery is a days over the top draining energy. They ruined my retirement. Still have a claim since they hid the side effect from the doctors and pharmacists but find a doctor who wants to take on a pharmaceutical. One legal suit is full of claimants.

Re: kr (# 4)

You are so right! I have mentioned the following before, commenting on other people's posts, but really want to get many people to see this as I can, just so more will be aware. They (government & FDA obviously) are really screwing with these meds in a bad & dangerous way. I had a terrible experience last month with a "new generic norco" of course the pharmacy tells u that it's just a new generic they have been given but had the same strength & ingredients which was total be. Be aware of a new generic for norco 10-325 by a company called aurobindo pharma, I WISH I had the funds to get THIS CRAP analyzed. I never had such a terrible reaction to any other norco, it gave me a terrible migraine. Queezy stomach, & no pain relief at all. I had to argue with the pharmacy about it, tried to be nice at first until they just blew me off, & refused to do anything about it (family fare pharmacy FYI) so had NO pain meds for a month / I do have chronic pain issues, so I changed pharmacies before I made it the 30 days (barely) before I could get my next script - made sure ahead of time that I wouldn't be given any crap from Aurobindo pharma - this crap was made in India BTW so I'm thinking it will FINALLY be OK but I was given the white Watson 853, needless to say I was very disappointed! Of course I was told by the pharmacy that this was a good brand, because I had told them ahead of time, about my TERRIBLE experience with the "fake" crap I dealt with the previous month. The white Watson didn't give me as bad of a reaction as the fake India made stuff, but still have me a headache & hardly ANY pain relief at all. So, screwed again for at least a month. The people saying the only difference is yellow dye being removed don't know what they're talking about, or maybe they're on the side of the pharmacy or drug Companies. The sad thing is a lot of people would have to get with a GOOD lawyer to have some of this crap analyzed, & file a major legal case. It's terrible that so many of us REAL pain patients are treated like this, & SO FAR AT LEAST the big bucks drug companies & pharmacies as well as the FDA are getting away with this BS.
