Teva 30mg Vs Aurobindo Pharm Amphetamine Salts (adderall) (Page 7)

Updated

For several years I've taken TEVA 30mg Amphetamine Salts 2x daily with consistent positive relief. Focus and a feeling that I could have a productive day gave me a reason to get out of bed. On 8/21/2014 all that changed to nervous anxiety filled days staying home. What caused the dramatic change quickly became clear. The generic Adderall produced by AUROBINO PHARM which my regular CVS Pharmacy filled my RX with on 8/21 was less than effective it was exasperating the very symptoms for which it was prescribed. FDA is an ineffective bureaucracy controlled by lobbyists for foreign and domestic pharmaceutical companies making huge profits in generic drugs at the expense of the health and quality of life of others. The manufacturing of inferior or possibly harmful medications by greedy corporations will continue to grow until a strong GOOD DRUG coalition is formed. Tomorrow I know I will be calling my pharmacy, CVS Corporation, my Dr., and make a report to the FDA. I will also try my damnedest never to purchase a drug produced by AUROBINDO PHAR.

No, I work for Ford. I guess most of you expect to feel high from Adderall, I take it for ADD. Teva is side effect city for me, not why I was prescribed (generic) Adderall. Aurobindo does what it is supposed to without all the nasty side effects, but again, I take it for ADD, not recreationally.

I believe it works like Stratera, which makes me sick. No i don't expect to feel euphoric off of adderall. Marijuana works fine for me.

I also take adderall for focus at work.

Maybe a Ford employee can explain why the Aurobindo U31 tabs I got didn't register anything on the Marquis reagent test.

The white mallinckrodt adderall showed the orange color it should have. The pink Corpharma tab I had shows positive for amphetamines. Those were my control samples, known generics that seemed effective.

Tested 3 Auribindos. The only orange I saw was from the peach coloring they use. Not one had enough amphetamine to show positive.

ChadB Ford, just switch to Strattera, that's what you're taking.

Re: ChadB (# 121) Expand Referenced Message

I agree. I was on aurobindo for almost 10 months and they saved my life. In November my pharmacy changed my morning 20mg dose to Teva and afternoon 10mg to Sandoz. I thought nothing of it at first, but after a day or so, I was spiraling. I assumed it was holiday depression or seasonal affective disorder. The Sandoz seemed ok, but the Teva (orange footballs) were just plain ineffective. I really appreciate resources like this, because I honestly felt like I was going crazy or regressing back to where I was before I was treated. Side note: pharmacy explained that they can't get Aurobindo anymore? Has anyone heard anything about that manufacturer?

Hi, they were backordered but starting to get Aurobindo. I got the Teva at cvs. It’s completeky ineffective. Generic drugs need stricter manufacturing regulation.

I have taken Adderal x 3 tabs per day, I get them from CVS, Walgreens, wall Mart
Sometimes I get a script that is close to useless, normally my scripts work, my insurance says it will pay for Brand, but no pharmacy keeps it and don't say yes, when I asked them to order is In advance. I've read their can be as much as 30% difference in strength. What company, if you know, makes the best generic formula?

These mf krs should be in jail. They have caused a sibling irreversible damage. CVS replaced Teva brand with this garbage, without labeling notification. Several years ago they didn't, but now I think they tell you your generic has been replaced by the toxic one from India. Who does not know about the utter disregard for the health and well being of others from Indian drug manufacturers. FDA are you listening? This toxic company with its toxic medication is destroying lives.

Teva now owns Aurobindo, so this toxic s*** will come under the Teva name soon. The XR still have a patent covering the formula, if you can switch to XR it seems to be ok. But holy crap! When I take those crap IR Aurobindo/now Teva, I will cry for no reason the rest of the day. I’ve had to make a choice in my health for my afternoon dose and say “no way”. I’ve even tried to push through the side effects, but nope, still s***.

Re: MrsRobbinson (# 127) Expand Referenced Message

Hi,

First and foremost, Teva is NOT owned by Aurobindo as of January 3, 2018.

See last press release from August of 2017: Aurobindo Pharma Ltd and Intas Pharmaceuticals Ltd are in the race to acquire part of the European assets of Israeli generic drugmaker Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd in a deal that, if completed, could be the biggest overseas acquisition by an Indian pharma company.

The assets include the oncology, pain management and women’s health divisions of the company, two people aware of the talks said on condition of anonymity. They added that the process, which is being managed by Morgan Stanley and Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BAML), is expected to receive bids that are upwards of $ 1 billion.

This will be the second time in less than a year that Aurobindo and Intas are vying for Teva’s assets. Last year, Aurobindo unsuccessfully bid for Teva’s Actavis UK Ltd and Actavis Ireland Ltd units and was pipped at the post by Intas, which paid close to £600 million (around Rs5,000 crore) to win the deal, Mint reported in October. The transaction was part of the European Commission’s antitrust divestiture requirement arising from Teva’s acquisition of Actavis.

Secondly, I am not a Doctor, nor an employee of any of these big Pharma's and am only adding my personal experience with Brand Adderall (made by Teva Select), Corepharma, Mylan, Generic Teva, Vyvanse (good god those made me mean and aggressive) and Aurobindo- and perhaps offer my "take" on the current Adderall availabilities. Also, needless to say, all our bodies metabolize these drugs in a different way so I reiterate this is not a promotional commercial for any brand- just my opinion based on experience.

When I first started Adderall, I was getting the CorePharma by Global/Impax. What can I say? They were awesome 1 month, meh the next month and awful in another month (big time headaches). What I noticed with Corepharma was the closer they came to their demise, they lacked any past punch. It was almost like they knew the product was coming to an end and quality went to hell and they started to skip on the salts.

So, Core became extinct so now what? From there my Doc and I went through Mylan, Aurobindo, Adderall Brand (made by Teva..ha) and Teva generics and Vyvanse again.

To make long story short the Teva was all over the place. Extremely potent and anxiety producing 1 month to absolute crap the next (like most are saying here).

The other generics of Mylan, and Aurobindo were not bad but seemed to be missing some of the Amp. That I consider critical for my focus. The Vyvanse again - only clean- made me a mad man.

From this point, I went on the Adderall Brand (By Teva Select) and experienced decent concentration and little side effects but a co- pay of $130! Fast forward to Jan1 2018 and Express Scripts tells me they no longer will cover Adderall Brand and all payment would be my responsibility. Investigated price: (60) pills $495! Talk about stick shock! Obviously this was no longer an option.

As I have had a 16 day Holiday (with 1 day usage of Teva) from the last Adderall Brand script, I figured my tolerance could be somewhat "reset." So my Doc wrote my a script for 60 generics (30) mg and told me if I needed to bump this up to 90 he would. I told him no for this month.

So I spent about an hour checking my usual pharmacies prior to my appointment to see what was out there. Well, surprise. Surprise most we're all Aurobindo and a few had Teva generic....decided to go the Aurobindo route as I took 1 of my daughters Teva last week with crazy chills and NO/NADA appetite...and no mood enhancement.

So I have a ton of work tonight and took 1/2 of the Aurobindo 30 mg. Meet my wife for dinner and was in the best mood I have been in a while! Hmm, placebo effect?

In any event, I will revert back in 1 week and let you know how its going but I believe there are two things going on here: (1) Holiday of over 2 weeks (2) reset of the fillers form what you previously we're use to.

Hence, (again for the length of this), the time you walk away from your current brand and "reset of semi-reset" your tolerance has a huge impact on the varying generics previously taken. I also believe there is some self-fulfilling impact to everyone hearing one works and the other doesn't.

It's your journey and hope you all find some relief from what we have to choose from...

Cheers!

Re: MrsRobbinson (# 127) Expand Referenced Message

Hi. Just to clarify, Aurobindo was going after the European products from Teva due to the required divestiture of some of Teva generics due to the buy out of Allergen. The products were not Adderall but cancer drugs, etc. It has not happened and Aurobindo is bidding against multiple other Pharmaceutical multinationals.

Anyway, I have been on everything and the Teva Brand was decent but very costly! Hence my insurance dropped it in 2018.

I had a choice now between Teva Generic and Aurobindo. I chose the latter and must say I believe it was the right decision. Until Teva get's their house in order I would not trust those sweet tasting, diabetic coma pills.

Good Luck!

Re: Hate Aurobindo Brand Adderall (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

The aderall made by this company is HORRIBLE. I hate it when my pharmacy is out of other brands and get stuck with these. They taste like cardboard. What is the % generics have to be to brand.?

You took the words tight out of my mouth. I even thought maybe my new Doctor was prescribing me with a placebo. I don't know how to report the substandard potency or lack there of.

Took Teva 30mg then and it was perf. I switched Pharmacy from Walgreens to Kroger because it was cheaper ($4?!) haha.

Got home and saw I got Aurobindo. I knew nothing about it and was like “ok”. Took half because I split it up in the day.

Teva is like a smooth transition into focus gear, like a warm cup of coffee.
Aurobindo was like catching a whiff of the coffee but it blowing away quickly.

Talked to the Kroger pharmacist and told them Aurobindo is trash. Spoke with my doctor the next day, handed over the Aurobindo and got a new script. Walgreens and Teva for life!

I was originally on Corepharma 15mg generic Adderall IR and it worked AMAZING. I was on around 10-15mg for my first year... until Corepharma was discontinued (at the time I didn't know, the pharmacists didn't tell me....). I got Aurobindo... which was possibly the worst medication Id ever taken. I was usually on 10mg, and I started to notice that my medication only worked half of the time, but most of the time I got really tense, irritable, jittery and I got headaches. After about a month, I asked my doctor to increase my dose to 15mg since I thought the medication simply wasnt working. Side effects did not improve and I finally found out that I was getting aurobindo and not corepharma. Did research and realized there was a difference between generics and that others were in the same boat. I ended up finding another pharmacy that had Corepharma (still discontinued at this point, I still didnt know).
Which I got two months worth of Corepharma from... then they ran out as well. They were the ones who ended up telling me that Corepharma IR adderall was discontinued months ago.... Since then I've tried Teva (Only had about half the potency, I took 20mg or 30mg... or even 40mg and when it worked, it worked for about 2-3 hours). I've also tried adderall XR, but that gave me extreme anxiety and tenseness. I went and tried 2x-3x 10mg pills of Sandoz IR adderall but it also barely worked... I went and got a 30mg pill of Sandoz Adderall and it... works sometimes, sometimes it doesn't and I get some side effects. I also needed longer acting medication so my doctor also perscribed Vyvanse.

I'm a pretty big mess right now because of this situation. I didn't know I really had really bad ADHD until about 2 years ago when I first got my medication. The difference was night and day. Literally went from a sub 2.0 GPA to a 3.9-4.0 GPA. Medication inconsistency has been a rollercoaster and I've started to lose sleep and I'm noticing the health issues now.

Doctors nowadays either don't understand the issue (they don't know different generics affect people differently) or they just perscribe more medication to mask the side effects when lowering the dose would be more effective.

I'm seriously tired of this s***. F*** the pharmaceutical companies charging a fortune for generic medication thats extremely inconsistent.

You're not alone! Aurobindo is horrendous - I felt the same way when CVS changed generics. I found Teva to be the most effective with least side effects for me. And I have the same experience with the XR as you do. So crazy that they can all be called the same medication and be so vastly different. Any luck with Vyvanse?

Re: Spacey (# 134) Expand Referenced Message

Now medication effects are going to be different for everyone, so how Vyvanse works for me likely won't be the same for you! I have a slower metabolism. Since the active ingredient in Vyvanse needs to be broken down through your digestive system before it can be absorbed, it takes a lot longer for the effects to kick in. I feel the effects of Vyvanse kick in around.... 1.5-2 hours later. I'm still experimenting with my dose, I'm likely going to lower it further... however for me since I take it with adderall IR, I'm not 100% certain which effects are overlap from the other drug. I feel a bit overstimulated at times, I get heart palpitations, feeling restless at times with racing thoughts. These are all side effects of too high of a dose, so if you go with a much lower dose you might not have this issue. However vyvanse seems to last longer than Adderall, and it doesn't have much of a "kick". At lower doses its likely a lot smoother so you're less likely to notice a huge impact like Corepharma Adderall once did to me

I took Core Pharma for years and it was the best! Since I’ve been unable to get those I’ve tried several different kinds and the only one that comes close to being as effective is Aurobino. All of the others, including Teva, were worthless. I have called about 75 pharmacies around Texas today trying to find Aurobino, and still can’t. I hate it when this happens!

ha... I got the opposite. I HATE aurobindo. Gave me intense anxiety, tenseness, made me jitter, headaches... And all the pharmacies around me carry either Aurobindo or Mallincrockdt...

TL:DR: I switched from 15 mg to 20 mg on Aurobindo and suddenly had a whole host of new problems: trouble sleeping, jittery focus, and inflammation in my mouth to the extent that my tongue has a perfect impression of the inside ridges of my teeth, I'm constantly biting the sides of my tongue, and I have sores opening up in the corners of my upper lip. Anybody else have this problem?

Full Story:

After fighting (and largely failing) to deal with my ADD, I asked my doctor to prescribe Adderall back in Nov '17. I had a bad experience with it in my teens, but with a baby and a new job, I needed all the focus I could get. He started me on 15 mg.

I went with Teva from Walgreen's for the first 2 months, but because the drive was cumbersome, I went to the CVS down the street for month #3 and got Aurobindo. Didn't notice a difference other than taste of the pill.

However, my experience was still a steady regression. Not going to lie, my first impression of Teva was subtle, but effective. I thought it might be a placebo, but after missing a dose or two, I noticed a decline in impulse control. Unfortunately, the pill was still losing ground overall with controlling the random focus shifting typical of my particular type of ADD.

At my 3 month check-up, I asked the doc to up my dose, which he did very hesitantly. I went to the pharmacy over lunch and started my second daily dose that afternoon. Immediately I noticed a stuttering focus, but I attributed that to my body adjusting. Then the swelling began...

I noticed my mouth felt both sensitive and hot. My tongue was rubbing my teeth and not from nervousness behavior. Sometimes, as the mustache of my beard grows out, the short hairs will make shallow cuts on my upper lip, to which I attributed the growing sores in the corners of my mouth, but after a day of them getting larger instead of healing (one opening up to almost 1/4" dia), I stopped taking the pills all together.

After a day, the swelling was almost gone and the sores closed up. Thinking it was the dosage, I cut the 20mg pills into quarters and took three quarters to equal the 15 mg dosage. Immediately the cycle of swelling returned, but not as fiercely. The next day I dug out the left over 15 mg pills (same manufacturer, Aurobindo) and experienced zero inhibited focus, no swelling, and the same lack of effectiveness that caused me to ask my doctor for an increase in the dose in the first place.

So what have you got, internet people? Any sympathizers? Any advice?

Re: Ethan (# 138) Expand Referenced Message

Oh my god. I could have written what you just said (including the beard part, ha.) In the last couple months I have been dealing with HORRIBLE swelling and sores and inflammation in my mouth and throat and I have done enough on/offs of the Adderall now to pinpoint that it is the Adderall and not some other weird disease. This is also after having been to urgent care a couple times and the nurses not knowing what it was attributed to.

I take Teva 20mg IR as well as 15mg IR. It has been a nightmare with these mouth symptoms and I have been on Adderall for two years--this only happened one other time, also in December/January of 2016/2017. I am so happy to have read your post, even though I'm so sorry you are going through it too. But WOW. It's like some f****d up allergic reaction with so much red swelling on the roof of my mouth, my throat, tongue... unbelievably painful and has left me sick, sick, sick for the last couple months.

Anyone else?!

Re: Justin (# 139) Expand Referenced Message

You took put up with the symptoms for "a few months"!? Good god man! I couldn't stand it for half a week!

Its interesting that you experienced that with Teva (also, the IR stands for Instant Release right? I've never tried the extended release). I had my reaction to Aurobindo (CVS generic), but Teva seems to work a lot better with my body chemistry. I'm on the 15 mg nominal release (regular release? Instant release? I don't understand pharma naming rationale) and I feel like my mouth may be a little sensitive: its easier to burn from hot food easier and cute my tongue and cheeks with teeth. Still, its barely noticeable compared to the massive swelling I had on Aurobindo.

Also, I got back on the Teva 15 mg, and now I don't feel as strongly about needing to increase my dosage. Maybe the Aurobindo was just not working with my body chemistry.
