Updated

Would like to know if anyone had side effects from Prolia but they went away - and how long did it take for that to happen?

Re: Poodle (# 20) Expand Referenced Message

Please can you show me the place where you got this "fact" straight from the horse's mouth? I want to go to the doctor who put me on Prolia and show him evidence.

After 2 years if suffering, I went Gluten free. At that point, my Thyroid became regulated (My previously well regulated Thyroid for 18 years, became wildly unregulated soon after Prolia). After 3 years of of fatigue, lethergy, mental status changes, GI distress, blurred vision and a 20 pound weight gain; I read about how Gluten affects the Thyroid. Bingo! I immediately dropped 9 pounds, now 15 pounds down and feeling better. Gluten is very inflammatory and can inflame the body in ways other than Thyroid, such as skin, for example.

That is so awesome, Sal. To find that solution. Gluten is bad for everybody! I try to eat as little processed foods as possible and gluten free or whole grains (at a minimum) it's so hard to take it completely out of one's diet, but there are many options available for us today!

There certainly are many options, I don’t feel deprived at all. Gluten free
has changed my life.

I feel for you as I am in a similar situation. Only one injection and I am not taking another. If I end up in a wheelchair it will be by my own doing not someone else. I do not trust the system and I am a nurse who was part of it at proud at one time.

Hi Debbie, I was on prolia for two years and never again. I had all over pain from head to toe, muscles, joints and bone pain. I had swelling in my feet, ankles and hands and kept putting on weight. I have been off about a year and half now. two months after my last shot I decided no more and I used a good hemp cbd oil. the first week I started sleeping better and gradually the pain got better. for me I believe it really helped. everyone is different. check with your doctor if you should consider trying it as it may affect any meds you are on now. its worth looking into

Re: BB (# 18) Expand Referenced Message

Yes I had one injection Mar. 7/19 and have had every adverse effects that they have listed. I am in my 7th month and still have effects. The worst is my asthma is severe now when it was controlled and I now have right ventricular heart failure. So no I am not happy and would rather have not ever had that poison. I am still working on looking where I can take this and will keep all informed.

It took me two years to recover. I did not recover completely though. My joints, especially wrists and fingers, ankles and toes are still very painful and misshapen. I know I couldn’t have developed Osteoarthritis overnight, but in a matter of months I went from
no symptoms to severe symptoms. I do NOT advise this medication except in a few cases such as : Bone cancer that is a metastasis, someone who is on long term steroids
or someone who drinks alcohol excessively, for example.

Re: Sal (# 292) Expand Referenced Message

I have been off Prolia for a year-- have weird hand and toe malformations in the joints... The joint just pops up and looks odd.. is painful but not horribly so; also there is red skin and a rash around the joint. I just look lumpy and the joints are tender. Also- I have been trying to find out where Prolia is actually manufactured ( what facility, what country) and have been unable to do so. The Amgen site has pictures of American plants and indications locations globally but I can't find specific information . I would like to track the inspection reports.

Re: Sal (# 292) Expand Referenced Message

I would not recommend Prolia to any one who had cancer because of the way in which this monoclonal antibody tampers with the immune system, particularly the T killer cells which are the forefront of defence our immune system has against cancer. Prolia causes a disorder in the immune system thus triggering autoimmune disorders in the thyroid, the cardiovascular system, etc. Some have developed Lupus, others Graves disease, Hashimoto, rheumatoid arthritis, etc. Prolia is giving a lot of money to some to the expense of thousands of women’s health, world wide .

Mea culpa. You are correct. This drug is poison.

I was told that the side effects of Prolia were rare, too. I told them about this website and it didn't sound like side effects were rare to me.

The pulmonary doctor has been the only to not poo-poo my strong suggestion that the issues are from this deadly drug.

Update on my puppy: Smudge Alpin MacRuff is a Cairn terrier. He loves to ride in the car and he loves people. Due to terrier hyperactivity, his training is taking longer than I thought it would. We've been through two levels of dog training at Petsmart so far. I managed to get my hubby to do it with me.

My chronic fatigue is still really bad. I need a nap in the afternoon just to semi-function. More energy would mean I could work with Smudge more. Smudgie love kids. The trainer suggested he would be a good therapy dog for kids. That would take time and energy I don't have right now but something to consider in the future.

I'm hoping he will settle down more as I continue working with him on the heel command and teaching him not to jump on people.

Zak George's Dog Training Revolution is a great resource. And I found a book specifically aimed at terriers called From Tenacious to Terrific.

If you're on Facebook you can find his page Smudge Alpin MacRuff and he's on Twitter, too. We're doing a doggie cookbook together.

Hugs,
Nikki

Re: Nikki (# 296) Expand Referenced Message

Just wanted to get this out there. If you live in Canada a legal firm called Mackenzie Lake did take Merck, pharm to court related to Fosamax and there was a settlement.i am going to contact them on the Prolia issue to see if they have an interest in a class action suit or something like that. Look the Fosamax case up on the internet as it was 2017 I think.

Re: Shirley (# 186) Expand Referenced Message
My T-score is -5.3 due to childhood kidney disease. I took Prolia for almost two years. Every time I received an injection, I developed a UTI. Furthermore, I also developed severe dental disease after a lifetime of perfect dental health. I've been off Prolia for 18 months and my kidney function continues to deteriorate. I have no way of proving that is the cause, but I regret ever having a single dose.
