Implanon Severe Depression And Suicidal Thoughts. It's Real. (Page 2)

My daughter who was naturally a funny, happy adventurous person her whole life became severely depressed and had suicidal thoughts from the very beginning of her use of IMPLANON. Anxiety and panic attacks, non-stop bleeding, Even hallucinating towards the end. It was so bad, she was house bound the last few months of her life. She took her life during one of her severe bouts of severe depression. She had this implanted in her body for 2 years. Could not find a doctor to remove it, even planned parenthood to her sorry, not our problem. UNBELIEVABLE. What do these pharmaceutical companies think women are for? Do we not have any more worth then their test monkeys or guinea pigs that they can just stick something in our bodies without concern as to what it does to our mind not to mention only 40% of women who use it actually can trust it to keep them from getting pregnant? 654 women out of 1500 got pregnant while having it in their arm. Oh that's another thing, since when is it ethical to put something in your body that an x-ray cannot find? That's right, if you no longer have your paper work you received when it was implanted, best of luck trying to find a doctor to take it out. They cannot just x-ray your arm because it does not show up in x-rays. UNBELIEVABLE................This is not only unethical, it sucks that our government approved such a thing. Maybe because it was initially designed for low income underage sexually active girls who they consider to be to irresponsible to take a pill everyday. Is this the governments answer to keeping the welfare system from growing? And so what if they have the paper work to show where it was inserted, the "match stick" as they call it, moves around in the body. The doctors who insert it are most definitely in the pocket books of the manufacturer, MERCK INC. Something needs to be done about this.... And if you are suicidal, remember, IT ISN'T YOU OR YOUR LIFE THAT HAS GONE BAD it is the implant in your arm. {edited for privacy} DO NOT HURT YOURSELF. GET IT REMOVED NOW before you let it get the best of you like my beautiful daughter did. Thank You....

Hello,
My name is Kellie and I posted back in April. My daughter experienced all the anxiety, depression and suicidal ideations! She was and is still cutting and had a overdose of medications. We had the implanon/nexplanon removed in May 2015 but she still has not returned to her normal moods or self! She is currently taking antidepressants, anxiety and mood medications! Otherwise she would not be here! She is only 15 years old and hate that my daughter has to take all these medications but that is all I know to do. I feel very strongly that the implant is what caused her to go into this deep depression and anxiety! Hope you continue to seek medical help as this is a very dangerous situation! I am very fearful each morning I wake that she may not be with us any longer ;(. Good luck to you and your family!

Hello, my daughter had the implanon inserted for only a month and had horrific side effects, panic attacks, anxiety, depression, anger, suicidal, severe sinus infection, acne and sores on scalp. We were fortunate in that the Dr removed it at our request. It took ages to remove and had moved in her arm even after that short period. The removal was seven months ago and she still has a sore arm on and off and dreadful anxiety and depression and sores on scalp. Anyone we go to in the medical profession say we cant blame the implanon for her condition as if it was the implanon she would have got better immediately. Prior to implanon she had never had any of these troubles. Has anyone else had it removed and not fully recovered straight away, I would love to hear from you. We don't know what else to do. She has been to numerous doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists, natural medcine specialists and been taking hormone powder drinks.

suicidal, anger

My daughter got the implant about 8 months ago. The first few months were ok because she had been bleeding continuously for 4 months and the implant stopped bleeding. However, she now suffers from depression, severe anxiety and panic attacks and she is suicidal. This was her senior year in college of which she would have graduated this coming May. However, due to the severity of the depression, anxiety and panic attacks she dropped out of college this semester. She just turned 21 and I am completely clueless on how to help her. She actually told me the other day that while I am at work she thinks of ways to kill herself before I get home from work and find her in time to call ambulance. She also told me that she takes her seat belt off and drives through red lights at 40 to 50mph hoping someone hits her. It breaks my heart for her to be going through all of this. I truly believe it is the implant causing these problems. She was never this way in the past. She had no desire to get out of bed, to leave the house, or even to live she says. And this was a young woman who was about to graduate from college to begin the next chapter of her life. Any help or information in this matter would be greatly appreciated

Hello ladies, my daughter has been on the Nexplanon implant now for 6 months and she too has had severe mood swings, depression, and tried to commit suicide three weeks ago. I believe it's caused by the devel stick. She was a happy outgoing young lady until now; getting it removed soon but for now im on 24 hour watch and her anxiety is out of control. She can't go to school or be alone at all. This needs to be taken off the market!!!??

My beloved granddaughter committed suicide in May of 2015. She had just had this birth control implanted. She had been on these two drugs for several years; Implanon and Nexaplanon. I am looking for any information you may have: Class Action Lawsuits, FDA rulings/new guide lines.

Additional Comments about IMPLANON: I decided on implanon because my periods were so painful I couldnt walk around without a hot water bottle pressed to my stomach and had constant chunks bigger than sandwich pickles. For a week, sometimes two I would be house and bed ridden which was effecting my working life. I have had a dry mouth since a couple of days after the implant and the first week I did have some dryness downstairs but I added extra things like nuts to my regular diet to promote vitamin E and oils to my skin and body. With the extreme bleeding side effects I think anyone who gets implanon just so they don't forget the pill and complains is just ridiculous. With all the complications you need to be aware of what you are gambling. I had 4 periods in 6 weeks previous to getting the implant put in so I felt like I had nothing to lose by gambling on the hopes that implanon would maybe fix or regulate my already wacky and heavy painful cycle. There are plenty of other forms of contraception for those who cannot deal with the idea that it effects everyone differently and you don't just get what you want from it. It's not a present its a means to an end for those who are willing to risk the chance of those side effects.

My advice: Do not put your child who is below the age of 21 and not full developed on an implant. Put them on the pill or better yet give them a smack on the butt and tell them to stop spitting around. You are the ones who choose to put this in your body and the side effects are clearly stated but no one wants to do their own research. Take your own blames when you don't like the outcome because the doctor and the company didn't force you to take this form of birth control.

Hi. It is horrible to hear that more people are going through this hell. You should try your best to find a solution to get it removed as quickly as possible!!! It is definitely the implanon, and the longer you keep it in, the worse the symptoms will get, and the length of the recovery period will grow. Please always remember that it is the implanon that it messing with you, and that you are not crazy or depressed.. I've gone a year without the poison, and it is safe to say that you can endure a 100% recovery! Hold on!!

I'm very sorry about your loss.... I currently have the nexplanon... I've been housebound I'm a medical student at the moment and a single mother... Thankfully my boyfriend helps talk me out of these severe episodes of depression...but I fear one day he won't be here and I will do the unthinkable... I've had the nexplanon for almost 2 months now and I'm a horrible mess. All of the side effects I have them. You said its the governments way to prevent the welfare system from growing you're right.. They ask you about depression before insertion. I went to a neighborhood health care for my consultation. They basically said screw the consultation I'm giving you the nexplanon. Depression? Ah you will be fine then minute you feel depressed we will remove it. I called them in distress about my mood swings...suicidal thoughts...well they scheduled me a month out... For a consultation...not removal....I'm about to cut it myself out of my arm. I don't sleep not because of my toddler but because its made me manic and given so much anxiety and depression I can't leave my house... I'm always on panic mode 24/7...

Hello, my daughter is 14 years old and had the implanon inserted in her arm 9 months ago and now she is in a mental hospital for attempting suicide! I really feel it is the implanon that has caused her severe depression and suicidal thoughts! I am going to make her an appointment to get this poison out ASAP!

I am so very sorry for your loss!! You should consult an attorney. I had mine removed Sep 11, '14 and my psychosis went away quickly. I have NO doubt it was the problem. I filed a report with the FDA.

I am so sorry to hear this! I honestly was very suicidal for a long period of time. It was horrible. I am more stable now due to other medications I am on. But I am looking forward to getting it out soon! My heart goes out to you. my sister and I both had bad reactions to the implanon/nexplanon.

Praying for you during this time!

My daughter had the implanon for a few weeks and she had now taken her life. I couldn't figure out a reason for what she did and started thinking about her behavior since the implanon. She was crying for every little thing ..wanted to sleep all the time ..stopped doing her make up and then one day we found her in her room hanging.

I have nexplanon after 3 rd child. Implanon after second baby. I didn't have any issues the first time but now it is 10 months after my daughter was born and 8 months since it was put in and I am losing it! I don't know what to do. Trying so desperately to keep my stuff together but I am losing control and my emotions are running wild. I am on 100 mg of Zoloft daily and it doesn't even touch my depression. I don't know if the issue is the implant or am I just needing new meds? My sister had it in and she swears it made her crazy. I constantly feel down and want to scream at everyone.... I hate myself and how I am right now. Feeling very hopeless and my depression is prolly the worst it has ever been.... With no reason. I have wonderful kids and wonderful husband with supportive family. All working and stable! Why is this just now effecting me after 8 months?

I had a serious psychotic rage event last weekend that had the cops called on me by the concerned neighbor. I had tried to remove my implant myself. I can't come up with the $400 to get it out. I have 4 kids ranging in age from 16yrs to 7mo. I am so angry at myself for getting this. Worse I let my 16 year old get it. Hers comes out tomorrow.

Please go to your doctor and demand he remove it. Take a copy of the Hippocratic Oath with you. Maybe he/she will remember why they became doctors in the first place. if he seriously refuses, go to another one and another one until they remove it. My daughter tried to get it removed no doctor was willing to except the liability of f---up her arm in the process. I believe, no I know in the end she was afraid of what would be left of her since she could not get it removed. Please tell someone how you are feeling and why so they can keep an eye on you. It only takes one minute of letting it get the best of you to make a tragedy. Gob Bless and Good Luck

Hi everyone!

I am a 21 year old Norwegian girl, and had my implant taken out 2 months ago after dealing with the same horrible side effects. Severe depression, anger issues, crazy anxiety and suicidal thoughts. It was only due to great luck that my mum decided to Google the Implanon after witnessing the total breakdown of my mental health. Though being Implanon free for the eight last weeks, I am still really struggling with the hormones that are still stuck in my body. But I am starting to the see the light in the end of the tunnel. Thank God. I’m crossing my fingers for everyone of you out there fighting the same battle. We will get through this. Please don’t hurt yourself, keep reminding yourself that it is not you that have gone crazy, it is the hormones that have been injected into your body. EVERYONE ELSE; NEVER TAKE THE IMPLANON.
