Coming Off Invega Sustenna (Page 15)

Updated

Hi,

I was given Invega Sustenna at 100mg a month for 10 months since Dec 5th. My last shot was on August 29th 2013.

The medication gave me severe anhedonia and I have lost the motivation and willpower to do anything. I can no longer experience joy, happiness, or pleasure from anything I do and I have no interest in doing anything. I constantly feel restless and uneasy and I just can't shake this feeling away no matter what. All of these started about a week after my first IV.

I have been off this medication for almost 3 months now and I have yet to feel any improvements. I have read that it has a long half life of 25-49 days and that it can stay in your body for 300 days. So does that mean I will have to wait a year to start feeling better?

Any info on someone who has been off this med would be greatly appreiciated. I am interested to learn how many months it takes to feel better after invega sustenna.

Thank you

Thanks I will try b-6 and b-12, will order them. I usually get all my supplements in a Canadian brand called Aor, the cogni q I get is around $35, the brand I get assures that it’s high quality that’s why little expensive. I’m doing better I’m sure I’m gonna be ok in few months.. slowly coming back to reality. And thanks new year is where the recovery is. Good to hear that your kidos doing well.

Word of advice from a concerned parent who is also going through with my 19 yr. old daughter dont waste your time with these psychiatrist and hospitals, there only gonna convince you that your child is depressed or schizophrenic and that she needs to be on these meds which is nothing but poison and the symptoms only get worse. Take your time, and trying get her winged off these psychotic meds they will only harm her mentally and physically in the long run. Trust me i've been there and still getting over all this and its heartbreaking to watch your child suffer. I watch my daughter every morning struggling with all these side effects even though shes now off this mess. Never again.

Getting close to 10 months, still helpless no memory, can’t live by myself. How many more months do I have to wait before I am myself again? My parents aren’t understanding, I’m stuck at home with them, home jailed. It's suffocating. I’m close to a year out... When will the nightmare end? I don’t think people ever get back to 100% again or it takes years to heal.

When will I be able to move out, live independently and feel pleasure or joy?

If anyone has recovered from this, please write here to give us hope.

Hi guys

I pass my 6th half life next week, I’m glad to make it this far. And then my 7th and last half life for the drug to eliminate completely is on March 7th (another 50 days) ‘goodbye invega

Almost close to a year off, thanks to all those that helped me along the way. Hopefully we recover completely by 18 months

Just wanted to share that with you all, every single day is the same when you experience no emotions. So reaching half lives is little milestones and atleast you feel that you’re getting close to being yourslef again.

I wish you all nothing but health and happiness
@ruth hope you’re well, and your daughters doing good.

Congratulations, so good to hear. If there are things your still struggling with please mention it. My daughter's getting better slowly but surely with gods help. I'm trying new vitamins with her that is keeping her content as well as myself. 5-HTP, St. John's Wort and Melatonin at night has been her best friend and is working wonderfully for her. Thanks for all your thoughtfulness and concern. It's been a great support for the both of us and a reminder that we cant give up. Some days are not as good as others but this too shall pass and we'll make it through. Thanks again for listening. P.S. - And thanks to the young man on here that mentioned these vitamins. You saved me. Thanks.

:) I’m still pretty much struggling everyday but I can function now, like looking after myself and things. My emotions and memory imagination still bad, but I think the process is so slow I should slowly get better in summer or be recovered by end of the year. You slowly transition back to normal without you realizing with time that’s wut I think happens. Thanks, you truly been a great support. You have helped me during days I had nobody to turn to. Keep being there for your daughter, you’re lovely. I will keep you guys updated I hope I’m myself again in summer but it might take longer since the drugs are so strong and really mess you up.

Re: Sandh (# 285) Expand Referenced Message

Here's a few health benefits of (5- HTP)- Balances your mood, reduces cravings, consume fewer carbs, helps to fall asleep and remain asleep longer. (Serotonin) OR (5-Hydoxytrayptine)- a neurotransmitter and works with the nervous system and helps with anxiety, regular sleep and depression. (Vitamin B-12)- good for mood, adrenal fatigue, and hormonal imbalance. (St. Johns Wort) works excellent with (5-HTP) to put you in a calm state of mind (mood health). My main focus with my daughter is making sure that she's in a calm, happy state of mind and being coherent while letting these psychotic drugs wear off and every day is a challenge for me. I thank god i took the right steps. I may have mentioned some things on here that i'm no longer working with but nothing so far has harmed her, only helped, and it is a challenge trying to figure out what works and what doesn't work so i will try to continue to share my experience with these different vitamins but i refuse to go back to the psychotic drugs and have them tell me any different because I've been there and I've seen the damage in the long run and it's not fun but heartbreaking for anybody. Just a few tips.

Hi. i wanted to thank you. you've helped my 19 year old daughter tremendously with the vitamins you mentioned on here the 5- HTP and the st john worth it works wonders for her that and the b-12 vitamin i even found some melatonin with 5-htp in it to help her sleep at night and I've been sharing this with other as well so thank you, thank you your a life safer god bless you if you know of anything that helps with the disordered thinking and memory that you may have use please let me know but mean while st johns and 5-htp my best friend so anyway i just had to tell you thank you as a parent going through cause there's so many individuals out here reaching out for help but don't have a clue who to turn to or anyone to turn to and its a heart breaking challenging every day without knowing where to turn to so once again its up to us to help each other as sad as this world is so once again thank you, it brings tears to my eyes to hear my daughter tell me shes feels happy and is showing contentment even though some days are worse then others but for now this is a start.

Re: Sandh (# 282) Expand Referenced Message

There really isn't anyone. I get all my strength, patience, understanding and endurance from the man above. I'm 45 years old and been through a lot in those 45 years. Both my parents are passed away, brothers and sister all got their own lives not doing good and cant even help themselves cause they're going thru life's challenges. All my friends are back in another state. We talk once in a while. There are mornings where I don't want to get out of bed because im feeling like I have too much to face. There's days I wanna cry but I don't, there's days I want to scream god make this go away but I know he's working on it and it's on his time not mine. My 20 year relationship is not the greatest and this has really taken a toll on the both of us physically and mentally. We both take turns taking care of our daughter throughout the day but we both have a double shift at work. Our regular job and then when we get home. So being able to go to work helps as well as being able to laugh and talk to different individuals and hear their stories, but nothing compares to the indept level of grief I deal with at home. Most people complain about petty little things and have no idea what I deal with behind closed doors and most wouldn't understand anyway unless you've been there. So I look to god for all my strength and answers and it gives me comfort to get on here and know that there are others going through the same thing as me and that I'm not alone and somehow we can help each other.

Re: a concern parent (# 290) Expand Referenced Message

Hey Ruth, stress can lead to many things, try to leave things and past behind.. move forward with happiness, live life to the fullest. I know you have a daughter to care for. But live everyday like it’s your last. Try to resolve things with your partner life is short.

Thank you for all the advice, I will try the supplements, this damage feels like forever. I think I lost myslef forever it’s devastating. I loved every little thing about myslef and I got myslef in this mess now I’ll be a changed person and won’t find myslef ever again. Life won’t be the same. It’s sad, but you enjoy your life. Don’t worry about the years that are gone, look forward to the years ahead. Do things that make you happy. Try dancing and other things. 40s are the new 20s :)

How’s everyone? I’m passing the 7th and last half life in 1 month. The drug eliminates within 10 - 12 months, but the effects last way longer after the drug is eliminated. Some people recover around 2 years off and some don’t, their brains are altered.

If someone knows a recovery story please share it.

I read one review today, a guy who was on inj's. of invega sustenna for 6-9 months. 9 years later he leads a normal life, runs his own business. But his dopamine and serotonin is still blocked, he feels no emotions, pleasure, joy, nothing.

I have nothing to look forward to, I feel like I’m ruined for life. My brain is affected so much I feel like even 2 years isn’t enough time for it to come out of this mess.

Update on my daughter whom been off the Invega Sustenna shot Apx 3 month now shes still not quite herself she still talks to herself but very little and quietly. I no longer give her the 5- HTP cause its temporary only for a month it shouldn't be given no longer then that plus you have to be careful cause it also will cause you do lose weight drastically. so were now working on getting her to gain her weight back with healthy foods high in proteins and calories, plus shes now taking Turmeric Curcumin complex which enhances the memory working great so far, B-100 complex (timed-released) a extra B-6 ( 100 mg) Folic acid (400 mcg) and B-12 work hand and hand with the brain cells Vitamin D-(2000) IU.,vitamin C (1000 mg) and Flaxseed to help digest food and Probiotics to help keep you regular and the the St Johns Wort 300 mg which is a life saver when it comes to her needing to calm down and be in a positive mood and Melatonin 10 mg and ZzzQuil nighttime sleep- aide- its non-habit forming works great and gives her a good nights rest and wakes up refreshed we are no longer taking the niacin unless in a daily vitamin form which isn't as much. If anyone is wondering i do monitor my daughter acting and reaction to all these different vitamins so that i can find something that works for her plus i also study the positive and negative of the vitamins that helps so if things change this may be why but overall my daughters improving slowly that what counts and she no longer taking those psycotic meds. even though its still gonna take a min for this medicine to completely leave out of her system but at lease now i feel safer

Re: a concern parent (# 294) Expand Referenced Message

Hey Ruth, lovely to hear that she’s slowly getting better. Right, what matters is that she’s off the anti-psychotic meds, you've done really well :)

I have turmeric at home, Indians have it in their tea, I will give it a go. I need to start taking my supplements. These days I sleep around 10 hours a night and I’m not taking anything to fall asleep, my sleep has improved.

Thank you for all that you recommend, with this thread and your support I have thankfully made it to almost a year off.

Hope that you’re well :)

Johnny (# 267) --

Hi jhonny, how are you doing? Do you think you’ll recover 100% around 2 years off this crap. I’m at 10 months off and I can function but I’m in bed day in & day out. In other words a zombie. I don’t see s*** improving; even around a year and a half off no improvement with my memory. I don’t remember who I was before the inj's. I’ll be extremely happy if I recover at 2 years off.

Re: Sandh (# 298) Expand Referenced Message

Hiya sandh. I'm 15 months off the poison and my memory is good, prolactin is normal, depression is getting less, still not much effect from alcohol or cannabis. Hopefully I will be better at month 18. My emotions are slowly coming back. No zombiness now anyway. I hope we all heal from this terrible drug.
