Coming Off Invega Sustenna (Page 16)

Updated

Hi,

I was given Invega Sustenna at 100mg a month for 10 months since Dec 5th. My last shot was on August 29th 2013.

The medication gave me severe anhedonia and I have lost the motivation and willpower to do anything. I can no longer experience joy, happiness, or pleasure from anything I do and I have no interest in doing anything. I constantly feel restless and uneasy and I just can't shake this feeling away no matter what. All of these started about a week after my first IV.

I have been off this medication for almost 3 months now and I have yet to feel any improvements. I have read that it has a long half life of 25-49 days and that it can stay in your body for 300 days. So does that mean I will have to wait a year to start feeling better?

Any info on someone who has been off this med would be greatly appreiciated. I am interested to learn how many months it takes to feel better after invega sustenna.

Thank you

Re: Johnny (# 300) Expand Referenced Message

Hey jhonny, the drugs make the brain work slow. That’s why people have less thoughts, no imagination, and their mind draws a blank... Is there any improvement in regards to that? Do you still feel slow or is your brain starting to pick up the pace? What a horrible drug. I will be a year off in a month and a half.

Invega has cost me so much in such a short period of time. My last shot was in October '17. I've experienced severe anhedonia, loss of libido, cognitive impairment, and insomnia. I really think we all should get together and file for litigation against the makers of this medicine and the doctors who recommended us to take it.

I’m reading people have no luck at even 2 Years off this nasty crap, I myslef will be 1 year off end of next month and I don’t think I will ever be the same again

Reading stories online doesn’t help because some people are not that aware of themselves they think they are recovered but they actually not and still run by the drug

Wut do we do

I’m a year off next month, no hope. I feel I have some sort of brain damage. I don’t feel I will be recovered in another year, the drug permanently alters your brain. I’m screwed for life, the doctors, health care system and my parents ruined my life, these people deserve to be behind the bars.

I’m not reading any success stories from this nightmare.

Re: Sandh (# 304) Expand Referenced Message

My parents ruined my life putting me in the hospital. They detained me for three months all because i thought my email and facebook had been hacked. They called it a delusional disorder. I wasn't a threat to myself or others. They drugged me with invega immediately. They detained me for so long i lost my 7 year job with a company car. It's been a year since this and i cant get out of bed....the drugs have made me overweight and i cant fit my clothes.... I am now unemployed and live under a thumb at my mums and im 38. I never had mental health issues before all this and now my life is screwed from hospitalization. It's wrong. They have devastated me and i have thought since these injections of ending my life. I dont have one anymore. I am now severely depressed and in poverty. This is all started from one panic attack.

Re: Narshe81 (# 2) Expand Referenced Message

Hi Narshe. I know exactly what you're going through. My 19 year old daughter is dealing with coming off invega cold turkey from 256 mg to 117 mg, Now she's completely off the Invega Sustenna. I research a whole lot about different medicine that i thought would help and finally i gave up and let a natural medicine Dr. take over. He is a herbalist and he knows his stuff, he's now got my daughter on an all natural vitamin regimen detoxing her internally at the same time. He hasn't got to her brain yet but she's slowly coming around even though she still talks to the voices at times but any way here's what she's taking: the brand name Standard Process is the vitamins she's on - they also have their own website where you can purchase these same exact vitamins online. She takes Vista 1 {2 per day} white in the am and black in the pm. They're in the same bottle. There's an energy one but this made my daughter flip out so I don't recommend this one or the beta food. These kinds of energy tablets are not good in her case. Then there's Prosynbiotic [3 per day] and then vista 2 [2 droppers per day] and when i see her having a hard time with her racing thoughts i give her 2 St. Johns Wort and sometimes a 5-htp which some people claim the 5-htp makes them aggressive but everybody's different.

For her, the St. Jonn's Wort puts my daughter in a happy calm state of mind to where her mind's not all over the place. I did experiment with B-6/B-12 but it was too much for her probably because the st john's wort calms her and the the b-6, and b-12 is an excitatory vitamin which gives you energy instantaneously. I guess that's not good when taking a calming vitamin like St johns wort. Also, Vitamin D-3 and Vitamin C are excellent, but you want to make sure your vitamins are not synthetic but all natural which the brand Standard Process or First Chapter usually are and there's others out there. There's also protein powders out there with all natural stuff in it like kale, beets, spinach, etc... Just read your labels and ingredients, plus no caffeine or sugar as this worsens things. Nuts and seeds are good and fruit. Try organic foods, not processed foods, exercise helps and watching inspirational shows on Tv even funny cartoons and music. Anyway, I just wanted to share this with you. One thing i do know for certain is we have to wing ourselves off these psychotic drugs they're distributing out to us. They're not good and they love keeping us blind to the real reality of these drugs. I know this much for certain so be aware. I love my daughter and it's been a living hell dealing with all the meds and side effects from these drugs. They really messed my daughter's head up. I just pray that she will continue to get better in about 6 more months or less with this new Dr's help.

Read this!

I just want to say to everybody that I've been of this injection for year and a half now and everything is back as it used to be! Everything will go back to normal, you do not have to worry. I almost completely lost semen, had no libido and sexual function, I couldn't achieve orgasm, my nose was closed all the time, I felt the mental numbness, akathisia and everything else that others experienced too. Nothing is permanent, this is matter, not a living organism, not a virus, meaning it cannot reproduce and remain in your system forever, like herpes for example. Eventually (after a quite long time though) it will be out of your system and your hormone levels will be back to normal, as they used to be. The reason why (I think) you won't find successful stories coming off this medication is because most people just simply want to forget this terrible experience like a bad dream from a long time ago and they simply don't come back to forums and bring the good news. I told myself that I am going to go back to all places and tell people not to worry and that they can be relieved, after I'm fully recovered and can confirm this. I know that side effects are really terrible, but you just have to be patient, and rest assured that it will not be forever. It may take longer for same, shorter for others, but eventually it will be out!

I wish everything best to all of you!

Re: Floyd (# 309) Expand Referenced Message

Hey, thanks for writing. How many shots did you have? Are you taking any other meds? I've been a year off and had 4 shots of paliperidone. Have you taken antipsychotics long term or short term?

Re: Floyd (# 311) Expand Referenced Message

Thanks for reassuring the other sufferers. Is your memory still a blur? Did you get your imagination and thought process back? Can you live on your own now? What makes you say you have recovered, are you completely like before? I want to live on my own once this nightmare is over. Can people lead a normal life after these drugs? The drugs cause brain damage.

Re: Johnny (# 313) Expand Referenced Message

I'm 13 months off .. the antipsychotic drugs make you depressed cause they deprive your dopamine and serotonin

My friend who's a pharmacist said I need to go on anti depressants or I'll forever be like this
I'm messed up cause of invega and there's no way I will take more drugs

Will things change can we for real recover.. will things go back to normal

Re: Johnny (# 317) Expand Referenced Message

It's inhuman, and shame that these kind of drugs are approved and not banned.. I'm onto my 14th month
I guess I'll be happy to recover even after 3 years off in early 2020.. but honestly I don't think there's really 100% recovery from the drugs, it affects you long term or permanent

Anyways wut has improved lately, how's your imagination and thought process ??

I was on the Invega inj. for three months which is 4 shots and I just got a final injection to wean me off it because I turned into a zombie. I do not recommend this med to anyone looking to lead a normal life. For people searching for feedback on this med, it caused me severe restlessness (akathesia), loss of personality (anhedonia), loss of libido and lethargy. I drink coffee but it does nothing anymore. Most days I feel hopeless and helpless to the effects of this med.

Re: Verwon (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

Can you tell me how to get off Invega? I am on the 3mg tablet each day but was on 150mg depot inj. each month for six months prior. How do I reduce slow release 3mg a day or can I go cold turkey? I have been on the tablet for 9 weeks.
